- Welcome to Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park a breathtaking expanse of infinite grassland. The preserve, part of the Everglades headwaters, protects the largest remaining tract of Florida dry prairie, an ecosystem shaped by cycles of flooding and fire. The park offers visitors and campers many experiences and amenities including more than 100 miles of multi-use trails to hike, bike or horseback ride. The trails roam through dry prairie, wetlands and cool, shady hammocks, offering views of the grasslands and its abundant wildlife and birding viewing opportunities. Be sure to watch till the very end to see the many animals and birds we saw here at the park.
The park's remoteness makes Kissimmee Prairie an ideal location for stargazing. Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park was recognized in 2016 as an International Dark Sky Park. This is the first Florida State Park to be recognized with such a prestigious award.
The park offers four different camping choices: The family campground offers a full-service restroom with hot showers and laundry. The equestrian campground with hot showers has paddocks available. The primitive camping area offers a wilderness camping experience. The campsites are accessible only by foot, bicycle or horseback. The astronomy campground offers a camping experience free from the intrusion of campfires and bright lights.
Park Hours:
The park is open from 8 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. The entrance is closed daily 15 minutes after sunset. Only registered campers or after-hours pass holders are allowed entry after dark.
Ranger station hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and state holidays.

That is the Yellow GMC from the other video, my friend John had invited us to join him at this park to see the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. This park is recognized as an International Dark Sky Park.

Thanks for watching. There are definitely lots of birding opportunities there at the park as well as lots of trails to ride. I would recommend a mountain bike if you ride.

Great review very detailed. Honestly looks like a great place. As a tourist like me it looks great just for a visit to the walking trails. Thank you for this i hope you are ok and had a great Easter.
Thanks, we had a good Easter and I hope you and your family did as well. The grassy prairie ecosystem has various wildlife and birds can be seen right there from the Campgrounds and numerous trails there.

Looks like a great place to camp for a few days. I like that the spaces aren't stacked on top of one another. If we do campgrounds, we definitely prefer state parks. Private campgrounds tend to be a little too snug for our liking. Thanks for sharing the tour.
We also like to camp in the State Parks and ACOE campgrounds. They are usually more space and semi-private. In addition to that we enjoy the nature trails and park amenities. Happy Camping! -Dat
That was a vert good review as usual. The campground looks very spacious and plenty of room it between of the campsites. The Astronomy sites are interesting, they look so close to each other. We’re always planning to visit and camp there but it never happened. Been very busy lately in real life though.
Hello Bob and Gracey, I didn't recognize you new channel name, Dudz My RV. Thanks for watching and complement. I think I put a little too much time into the video and am glad it appreciated. The Astronomy Pad is very tight and there is no white light allowed, not even from your RV. I would recommend going to the Equestrian Campground, Site 21, 22, or 23. You can always set up your telescope by the horse paddocks. Stay safe and healthy. -Dat

Looks like a nice park with a lot of history and animals. I liked the large trees and shady areas. I saw the dump station 👍. Is there water at each site or just at the equestrian sites? Hi Steve and Hiromi. All sites have water and electric hook up. There is only one dump station and dumpster, near the family campground. It is very cool that they have astronomy pads and is a "Dark Sky" park. Thanks for watching and commenting. -Dat

Thank you. If you do go, I would recommend the equestrian loop site 21 or 22 where the sites are larger than the family loop and is pretty clear for you to see the Dark Sky. After going to this park, we've been looking to learn more about astrophotography too. Safe travels. -Dat
Nice park. Very hot in the summer, only shade is the campground area. I wonder how the Kissimmee River restoration will affect this property. I'll be back soon.
The prairie doesn't offer much shade. Definitely be prepared with your hat and plenty of water. The campground is great especially for stargazing at night. I plan on coming back too. Best regards!

This is a very beautiful park..the views are awesome .does this park big five animals..that's elephant, lion,leopard,rhino and buffalo?
Thank you. This is more of a State Park, with campgrounds and nature trails where you may encounter native wildlife and migratory birds. It's not a wildlife park with the big five animals.

Hello! You don't need to have a horse to stay at the Equestrian campground. I would highly recommend staying at that campground since it's more spacious with lots of shades and you can see deers and turkeys.
