I remember when I had my suicide attempt. I was rushed from the ER to the hospital, too out of it to talk. I was laying there and just remember the sad looks on the paramedics faces. This episode reminded me a lot about that. The sadness on their faces with both the teen and the lady. Feels so strange, how it can effect so many unrelated people. I hope they're all doing alright.
Because suicide is the most selfish act of all, and they work to save life. They are disappointed that one has no thoughts of the future, and all those who would suffer at the loss. Each person is put on earth for a purpose. It is not to commit suicide.
Why is suicide selfish? I know that if I was diagnosed with a terminal illness I would not want my family or myself to endure that hell, or the medical bills.

I've been in an ambulance once. Delivered one of my twins at 20 weeks in the back. I'll never forget how amazing and kind the EMT was. He did every thing he could to save my baby and she was still alive until the head of the NICU came down and told the nurses to stop working on her and my second twin that I delivered in the ER. EMTs are for saving lives. Doctors are for money.
I am sorry for the loss of your sweet twins. In the US most hospitals refuse to offer aid to infants born before 24 weeks gestation, which is considered the age of viability here. But I have always thought how heartbreaking that is. And I've heard of younger preemies surviving.
@@trishamartin9023 yeah I mean I knew when I was delivering them that they couldn't make it... But the age of viability has changed because someone decided to give a younger infant a chance and fought for them. One crazy thing I forgot is that we got a bill for to ambulance rides because my daughter was born in the ambulance.
I think even if they know the babies wont make it, they should do everything in their power to make sure they are treated with care. I wish they didn't have those rules in place because some preemies have survived earlier just because they were given a chance.
Yup, once you are born you start getting billed. God how tragic is that though, to be billed for the gas and transportation being used, coincidentally, while your child breathed her few seconds on earth. I'm so sorry for the loss of your twins.
I wish the health care in the US. Was like UK they are so caring always going above and beyond to help all their patients. And Helen and Julie were life savers helping the 17 year old boy💙🙏🏽
I totally agree with you; but, unfortunately everytime it comes up for them to try to get it done here in the US, between the medical/insurance companies that don't want it & people screaming that it's a "socialist" program, it just seems to disappear again 🥺
Wow I’m really shocked at the amount of time they were trying to help that 17-year-old I don’t think a US crew would do that at all I really don’t think so they kind of just was calling the police or something and then they were nobody really does outside of their area I’ve never ever seen that here if you fall between the cracks you’re just kind of screwed
I don’t like how people talk bad about America/USA. People get taking care of here whether you had money or not. Some people dig there own holes and Choose their own life paths. It is sad that a 17 year old is homeless. I have a heart and have worked in the medical field for years and have given money to assistant my home health patients and bought them groceries. People do make choices and are stubborn. This 17 was stubborn for what ever reason, he was stubborn and was hiding something.
@@denisepope4478 I agree with you. Often in America it is meth. American teens don’t always appreciate school, so they do other things to take up the time when they should be getting educated, and often they have no family support to encourage the right behavior. And after four years of idiocy in the White House, many Americans feel bad behavior is quite acceptable.😢
Unfortunately, a lot of young people who age out of the foster care system also end up on the street because when they turn 18, often they are just left with nothing....no roof over their heads, no food or anything else.🥺 I just don't understand why they don't prepare these kids better than they do.
Oh, please! That 17 year-old had the option of picking up a key to a place but didn’t like the area it was in? He ends up in police custody instead? That tells me that he’s probably one big problem at home, and it’s easy to tell that everything likely had to be his way or no way. These ladies did everything they could possibly do to help him. He wouldn’t stay at the hospital to have his jaw looked at, wouldn’t pick up the key to his own place that would mean he would be inside and off the cold streets, and he had the cojones to turn the place down for any reason much less such a stupid one.
I was a medic for almost 10 years and I’ve seen things no one should ever see. One problem I had was the crew who saw the elderly woman with pain. EMS can usually check a pulse ox, heart rate, blood pressure, and an EKG. I was a medic in the US and if a patient wanted to go to the ER you had to take them no matter how foolish the call is. Very few places in the US allow medics to refuse to transport. There is a good reason. We couldn’t take bloodwork and run the results, perform a cat scan or even an x ray. If something happens to the patient because medics stated that they were fine and refused to transport to the hospital it’s a huge liability.
For calls that are non-emergency, there should be a charge. UK don't realize how lucky they are. Here in Alberta Canada we have the AHS, which is very much like the NHS, yet the ambulance is a cost for ANY call. $250 if the patient is not transported and $385 if the patient is transported. With these charges, we still run out of ambulances on a regular basis.
I hope the 17 year old boy and the last homeless woman was able to get help. It’s like this in all countries including mine in the US. Things need to change
They are overworked understaffed and underpaid and that needs to be addressed and HAS needed to be addressed for some time now. What makes it worse is it's worldwide here in the US we have the same problems. In fact, the city I live in which is the third-largest in my state announce at the end of last week they are suspending our fire department ambulance service for a year. We are in the middle of a Pandemic not to mention the county I live in and the one next to it has some of the highest numbers of virus cases in the state.
Its plain and simple.... if they dont like their job then they should quit. When you are responsible for a person's life there is room for errors. Just because they are over worked and under paid doesnt mean they need to take it out on patients. No excuses are ever needed!
So, clearly Helen and Julia are the most precious ladies ever but can we also ship Ben and Julia?! They are so sweet and amazing too and like totally would be paramedic couple goals!!
I had to do CPR on my father-in-law in the hospital when he stopped breathing and the nurse left the room to go call the code and get the crash cart. I pray that you and your son will find the Love you’ve always had for each other. God heard our prayers. Remember the Prodigal Son….even Prodigal Daughters can find the way back to Home, back to Love with Gods Help. I know. ❤️🙏❤️
I wish the American Ambulance service Treated people like that they care so much for people watching this makes my night so much better
Helen and Julie are angels, absolutely beautiful big hearted women. ♥️
Bless your kind soul. Love from Norway
The little girl kept grabbing her ears, going to guess ear infection and fever.
I noticed that as well!!! Also I was thinking Tylenol!?!?
@@sonjam314 bringing a fever down with tylenol can be even worse. It drops it too fast and unnaturally. Not to mention tylenol is just so bad... If over 6 months ibuprofen is always the better choice.
ksierra4444 we had to alternate sometimes but having a daughter with a bleeding disorder and no spleen we personally had to use Tylenol first and we did tepid baths, cool cloths, ect.
My little girl always pulls at her ears. She’s been checked several tunes. It’s a soothing thing for her.
i betcha you're 100% right!!!
That's ridiculous
I think even if they know the babies wont make it, they should do everything in their power to make sure they are treated with care. I wish they didn't have those rules in place because some preemies have survived earlier just because they were given a chance.
Yup, once you are born you start getting billed. God how tragic is that though, to be billed for the gas and transportation being used, coincidentally, while your child breathed her few seconds on earth. I'm so sorry for the loss of your twins.
Ben and Sophie....💕. They are so kind.
Poor Maria. If I had been blessed with parents I don't know that I could leave them & go to another country. Sending her my love 💓
Cagney and Lacey are brilliant. Love those ladies. God bless 'em
Oh that sweet baby - my son had 2 febrile seizures when he was 18 months and it was the most terrifying thing. That poor mama ❤
I love Helen & Julie. ❤️
AWww.... the ambulance crew with the little girl was soo great with her n her older sister. 🙂
Never, never give up hope. You may never see the end but God does and we will pray that he sends you peace and sends him an angel to guide him.
The toughest job on earth, physically and emotionally
God bless all of you First Responders! You are all amazing. ❤️❤️❤️
All you Emits are wonderful You have a heart.
The little baby’s were so adorable. I hope the little one is okay 💕
If something happens to the patient because medics stated that they were fine and refused to transport to the hospital it’s a huge liability.
bless your kind hearts! I am grateful. I know where my sons are. I feel for those that dont.
When are the two getting married and I love Cagney and Lacey !! All such kind hearts ❤️
This vids is one of the most emotional one I watch
realy emotional. love this show
@@arcticrunning8370 same i've watched all the other episodes other then this one
WMAS TY so much for your human kindness towards people
Being a parent is the toughest job there is.
I think it’s rather hilarious at 45:45, when both paramedics were laughing, when the guy started singing. Not a bad voice, though
Rest In Peace Miss Lily
i have so much love and respect for helen and julie and the rest of the emts ❤️❤️
The two little sisters are so adorable!
I hope the 17 year old boy and the last homeless woman was able to get help. It’s like this in all countries including mine in the US. Things need to change
45:25 = his voice is amazing! I loved it!😁🖤👊
Very good service 👍 doctor and ambulance 🚑 wow
Wonderful ladies.
Seeing how drastically the situation in West Midlands has changed since the real responders series in 2008 it’s jarring and heartbreaking
I want someone to make me snug as a bug, too... They're just too sweet!
So, clearly Helen and Julia are the most precious ladies ever but can we also ship Ben and Julia?! They are so sweet and amazing too and like totally would be paramedic couple goals!!
I am always amazed at how non-judgmental these people are. It is not just a job for them. They truly seem to care
Not me. I’m extremely judgmental.
I had to do CPR on my father-in-law in the hospital when he stopped breathing and the nurse left the room to go call the code and get the crash cart.
I was doing compressions and saying, “Breath PawPaw Breath!!” With every compression. The code team made it to the room. The nurse took over the the compressions.
My father in law didn’t make it. He passed away on April 07, 2021. All that is left of the Pope Family on my husband’s side is His brother who is a drug addicted, my son and myself. I pray for my brother in law that God will turn his life around and break ties with the people he calls friends.
I fear he will be found deceased from a drug over dose.
On April 24, 2021, my father-in-law’s brother passed away. Our family has lost so many family members in 3 years mother in law, my husband, my son’s best friend, and my father in law, there are more. Aunt and Uncles, several cousins various ages. 12 deaths in one year July 2017 to July 2018
Bob Marley forever💜
8:30 Cliff, the husband, seems rather calm. 'It's just one of those things', he says. Okay.
For the old lady that fell down the stairs, this is why we have fire departments and stuff like that with medics stationed
Maria was so sweet!❤️❤️
The narrator sounds like Chris Eccleston, my second favorite Doctor!!
I hope Maria’s family in America saw this and went to see her. She’s so alone. 😢
God love you all❤
thank you for sharing
Aw, narrotor Christopher Eccleston! I knew there was something familiar sounding with his voice.
He can sing really good I was shocked
