Hey Ken! Congrats! I last told you I got the Van Der Hagen DE razor with some Wilkinson Sword blades (not Gillette ones) and I seem to nick myself around my mustache and lower neck area every time. Also, I noticed the razor pushes the blade a little further out on the sides on the razor (not the blade sides) and when I'm trying to do my mustache across the grain it always touches my nose and almost causes some unexpected nicks there. You recommend different blades? Different razor? Or both? Also, I'm a huge fan of Sweet Whiskey smell. I can't seem to find anything that fits that scent for soaps and aftershaves. Recommendations?
Thank you for sharing the story of your friend's sudden passing, Ken. I am 63 years old and was diagnosed with a squamous cell carcinoma on the base of my tongue in November of 2017. The cancer had metastasized to my lymph nodes on the right side of my neck and was classified as Stage 4. I spent the months of December 2017-January 2018 in therapy which consisted of radiation treatments every week day and two massive doses of chemo. Ironically, one of my long-time friends had begun treatment for the exact same condition just a month prior - using the SAME doctors and SAME protocol that I would be using a few months later. Sadly, the day after my tumor was discovered, my friend hemorrhaged from the tumor site and bled to death before they could get him to the hospital. So, a week later, I found myself delivering his eulogy only a few days after being diagnosed with the very same affliction. To say your story strikes a chord with me would be an understatement. Today, one year and two months after my treatment was completed I am 60 pounds lighter, feel better than I've felt in decades (albeit my taste buds are still a bit of a mess), the PET scans and MRI's find "no observable evidence" of my cancer, or anywhere else in my body. God is indeed great. The journey was difficult for me, my wife and son. But, I can tell you, there are many others being treated for strains of cancer that violate their bodies much worse than that with which I battled. Those people are heroes and I pray for their deliverance every day. Your recommendation to get checked early and often is most appropriate. My perspective has completely changed. I now try to enjoy the details of life (some days more successfully than others). In fact, it is that new perspective that in a large way prompted me to start wet shaving with a safety razor just a few short weeks ago. I have successfully transitioned a mundane morning chore into a delightfully therapeutic process, one which I anticipate with joy each day. And for this, I owe you (and a few other TH-cam channel providers) a debt of gratitude. Life is indeed fleeting, my friend. Thank you so much for sharing this joy with us each week. Thank you for sharing the story of your friend and how it affected you. Continue to relish in the minutia of life! Steve
When you said "I like talking to you guys" really made me smile. Just one of those "appreciate the little things" type of smile. Like listening to you talk to us Ken, I hope you can get by this difficult time and that you enjoy yourself for him. God Bless you and your friend.
Another great video Ken. I too would like to send my best wishes to you on your friend's passing. Always sad times, but nice to remember the good in a friend.
Another great shave, Ken. My condolences to you on losing your friend. Cancer sucks. A year ago my dad had surgery for lung cancer. And just few days ago he had six month scan and thankfully he is still in the clear.
Thanks for yet another excellent review. I’m putting my order in for this razor now. It seems to be the top in class. All the best to you & your family.
Great shave Ken! 💈So sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It’s nice that you got to see him before he passed. Be well and have a great week! 👍🏻
thankyou for sharing the soap pics as i was really looking forward for it in your shave den video.. we dont mind messy, so dont be ashamed to share the love... P.S really amazing razor.. another nice video.
Sir, long back - after watching your video - I search your products. My budget and product source not matching !!! Now I watching your video with love and respect. Like favorite hero's movie. Sir, I waiting for your "Indian shave" (you mentioned in this video) Thank you so much. Happy Sunday (here Sunday morning - India)
A sleek and, in my opinion, somewhat futuristic looking Contemporary SE Razor. It did a fine job on you as you certainly had a most excellent shave! Congratulations on the 10K mark too.
Def want that razor ken! And if u make a kensurfs brush I'll take one! I'll be adding to the table to at the convention also couple brushes razors and soaps! Thanks for the video n have a great weekend!
Congratulations on the 10G! Be thankful your burst of cold weather isn't accompanied by shoveling snow lol. Last Friday I was chatting with family in Alberta, and it was -38 C (a bit over -36 standard) there. They had had an extreme frost warning for 30 days running. Kids still have to go to school, but all outdoor activities are prohibited. Here there's a couple inches of snow and schools close down for a few days lol.
Hi Ken- Great shave and razor review; thank you! The Vector is just a great razor. The number of shaves from the SE blades are also quite a surprise- they do last for a good number of shaves. I hope you are well; continued thoughts and prayers for the loss of your friend. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. All the best!
Great video, really thinking of getting this razor.. you sold me. Glad you enjoyed the movie. I myself will not be seeing it thanks to Bri Lardsons big mouth, but glad to know you enjoyed it with the family.
Great shave. Hey, if that bottle stopper has a groove in it, it's a dropper bottle. Turn the stopper until all the tabs line up and you can dispense it drop by drop. Turn the stopper and it seals the bottle.
Beautiful razor. Love my Supply SE and I get about 10 shaves out of those blades it seems to be common for SE blades as they are thicker and perhaps harder wearing. Enjoy the weekend Ken
Great shave Ken💈💈 I just ordered the new polished version of the Vector. Love the profile of it and it's supposed to be mid aggressive, right up my alley. Safari! Yes. great scent, timeless masculinity. Another great video bro. Enjoy!
Well i tried my Merkur progress and Feather blades...perhaps I'm at fault since I'm certain I went too fast, but i got cut several times. Great shave Ken. That is one gorgeous and very innovative razor that I would love to have in my collection but I don't have $200 dollars to get it just yet. Cancer has claimed a lot of family and close relatives on both my mom's and dad's side of the family and it nearly got me and my dad which both of us still feel the effects from to this day.
Ken I'm looking for a razor to mimic the single blade on the back of cartridge razors for easy lining of my beard. The small head of the vector has me intrigued. Do you think the Vector would work well for this?
Great shave , been waiting for a long time to see a shave with that cream from someone, you find it to be a good lather , slickness & scent ? Sorry to hear about your friend , that's never easy to deal with . Have a great weekend
Another great video Ken, I know you prefer de razors but could you do a side by side review of the Mach 3 Start Vs any de razor. I use both cartridge and de razors and I've just purchased the Mach 3 Start and would find a review from you to be helpful as your reviews are always reliable. I prefer de razors myself but find that in a rush, cartridge razors can be faster to shave with as you don't have to worry a lot about cutting yourself.
The Vector and Hawk both look amazing and I've having trouble choosing between the two of them. Could you let me know which performed better for you? The cost of the Vector doesn't factor into the equation for me, I'm just looking for your honest opinion performance wise. As always, another stellar video. Congratulations on all the subscribers, there'll be 15,000 in no time. You deserve it, have earned it and are a great guy!
Hey Ken, what a great shave! Good to hear from you getting over the sad loss of your friend. The combo of the Blackland Vector and the Rocky Mountain Shaving Cream seems to be fabulous. Man, this SE razor is awesome. Hope to see Blackland at the Big Shave in Phoenix. Your crystal skull to soak the brush in is stunning. Can’t find one on Amazon and not sure of its size. Would you mind to put up the measurements helping me to search for the right one. Thanks buddy 💈😎

I payed 13 Dollar and it is Gold Plated one. Amazing! Looking forward to use it. Sorry for your loss! But congrats for 10 k! You are making 1000 subs every week,or? :-)
Hey Ken! Quick question unrelated to this video (I love and watch them all) but I recently bought a 67 black handle Gillette super speed. I find it to be a mild shave but I also am getting some irritation and nicks. Do you have any recommendations for blades to use to make it a more comfortable shave? Or maybe the razor isn't meant for me. Who knows lol. Thanks for all the videos you post. Such a big influence to wet shavers everywhere!
Wow nice razor, it’s on my wish list but 195 big ones is a bit outa my price range.. wife says u buy that u might as well sleep with it!! Might be a fair trade off lol!!

Did that razor give you a much closer shave than a lot of your other razors or am I just imagining that? Either way, great shave and another awesome video Ken!!!!
Hey there Ken, thanks you for my new addiction, went ahead and got myself a new razor ( the Edwin Jagger de89 ) and a new brush ( the razorock plissoft ) and I have to tell you, that brush is super soft. I'm loving the content on your channel so far, and if you find the time to respond please tell what are the advantages of the natural hair brushes. Also, what is your absolute favorite soap? Thank you for the good content and keep up the good work! 💈
Can I pass anything in between from supermarket $3 plastic double edge razor that u tried last week and went on TH-cam to research for the best there is, looks like i found what I've been looking for. Great for under nose for my pencil mustache. Looks perfect and top end performance to not care for anything anymore. i also do only dry shaving after electric razor pass.
I prefer actual original single edge blades, like the ones for the GEM razors etc. I prefer them because they are more rigid and less prone to blade chatter. This was a great shave, it had a single edge razor, a great looking brush, and a face lather. Only thing better would be if you used Williams!
What are your thoughts on soaking the brush prior to the shave? I usually hear people say a 3-5 minute soak is good but some say as much as 10 or 20 minutes. I suppose it depends on the brush type but I always use boar brushes and I generally just go with 5 minute soaks. Do you find any real differences?
I am sorry to hear about your friend and your father, as you said, go to the doctor, get checked out. I was diagnosed with testicular cancer at age 26. I was lucky, I caught it early, and after a right orchiectomy, I am a cancer survivor. Go to the doctor, get checked out. It could save your life.
Great shave Ken. Looks like a good razor. Which of the single blade razors would you recommend. I am thinking of buying one. Thanks. I look forward to your response.

Do you know if Homegoods has a online store, that ships worldwide? Would be so cool to get one of those crystal skull!
Fredrik Hansen eBay carries them under “crystal skull candle holder”
Great Shave as usual Ken. I Love that Razor it is Awesome. !! I Bought some Safari recently so it must still be made ??
Chris Morley Excellent. It’s a great scent👍👍👍

You should have them do a KS brush and give the proceeds to a charity you like.....Beautiful instrument

Hey Ken,
I'm a brand new wet shaver. What is the Crystal skull? Im trying to find one and am calling it a "brush soaker". Is that the proper name?
Steel Hobbist crystal skull candle holder..check eBay
I prefer actual original single edge blades, like the ones for the GEM razors etc. I prefer them because they are more rigid and less prone to blade chatter.
This was a great shave, it had a single edge razor, a great looking brush, and a face lather. Only thing better would be if you used Williams!

Hey bro can you do another shave with that calypso??
Shawn Joncoaltz 👍👍
What are your thoughts on soaking the brush prior to the shave? I usually hear people say a 3-5 minute soak is good but some say as much as 10 or 20 minutes. I suppose it depends on the brush type but I always use boar brushes and I generally just go with 5 minute soaks. Do you find any real differences?
Richard Meyer The Badger and synthetic seem to absorb quicker than the boar
Wish I could afford that razor, sure looks nice.
She Shaves with Jill 👍👍
what's the name of this shaver? where I can buy ?

I am sorry to hear about your friend and your father, as you said, go to the doctor, get checked out. I was diagnosed with testicular cancer at age 26. I was lucky, I caught it early, and after a right orchiectomy, I am a cancer survivor. Go to the doctor, get checked out. It could save your life.

Great shave Ken. Looks like a good razor. Which of the single blade razors would you recommend. I am thinking of buying one. Thanks. I look forward to your response.

Would you ever consider selling any of your razors?
