I think another weakness of Highwayman that isn't a glaring omission, but worth mentioning, is that he doesn't really have any method of self defense beyond a single block token given by Double Cross, and a single Dodge token given by Take Aim and Duelist's Advance+. It's not a huge deal, especially since his HP is decent, but it does add to the dynamic of him being a consistent damage dealer and support, that still needs teammates to take care of him in order for him to be safe.
I still find it funny how in a universe full of powerful deities, abominations and otherworldly creatures is the biggest menance some random thug with shank and pistol lol. But seriously, I like how they kept his role as damage powerhouse from first game that has answer to any situation, but still needs team support as all his skills are damage or debuffing oriented. Plus take aim practically giving him insane power boost which can turn tide of battle.
Still going through it, "Support" shouldn't have quotation marks. He has utility skills that completely counter certain difficult boss phases and encounters, e.g ravenous reach. Maybe, instead, replace it with "utility". Man's 7 tools of the bandit.
I will never stop talking about how good Double Tap is on Sharpshot. That combo token on the second shot is nuts with a Leper in your team. Melt a size two on turn 1 or hew two small targets for one kill and a stack of damage for turn 2
@charles9590 I was actually doing Grand Slam runs with my team I won with while black out drunk and accidentally stumbled upon it cause I kept forgetting to change the abilities and just wanted to try it. Changed my entire strategy with my team.
@hawkonroyale431 it's only when the skill is upgraded and it only receives a combo token from the second shot. It's good with characters who need combo to be effective(Leper) or if they can get a kill and activate a secondary effect (MAA Crush heal).
@hawkonroyale431 If you care about dodge tokens you can just shoot twice with double tap plus it removes block tokens also and removes your negatives, I never use tracking shot with sharpshot unless Im at the Sluice.
When it comes to rouge highwayman, when it comes to reposte generation, you have to choose how you want to play him, want to put him up front use take aim turn 1 every single time then spam wicked slice and/or double cross as double cross gives him block to pair with his reposte. If you want a mobile rouge then use duelist advance instead and alternate between duelist advance then grapeshot blast or point blank shot. You could use both by using duelist advance purely for moving him back to the front, not for the reposte generation, that’s just a bonus. While still using take aim as your main reposte generation. I prefer just using take aim, wicked slice, pistol shot, grapeshot blast and double cross.
@@ShuffleFMI don’t believe the “second shot applies combo on mastered” even appears in the skill loadout; it appears when you’re going to fire the second mastered shot. Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m basing this off memory.

Sergeant with undeserved commendation with command is really good when used on highwayman, forcing at least one hit on highwayman to trigger reposte. As it gives taunt.
For Sharpshot, i do appreciate what it does even if it is brain dead simple. But something I really enjoy with it is actually running Duelist. Having riposte on a hero that is designed for rank 3-4 is really good when going against enemies that are hitting from the back ranks themselves do the damage feels more valuable. It's also really good for dancing with someone like Jester. I appreciate the content!
Hi shuffle, yes it's me the sharpshot double tap CONSISTENTLY does more damage than pistol shot. I can show you the math and explain again if it helps any!
@@ShuffleFM Sure! So what you explained double tap does lose out to pistol shot there! But the cases I referred to are when you have +dmg dealt which are easily achievable and consistent. So to recap, no +dmg the moves are fine and have different uses, yes +dmg I personally think the moves are not fine since doubletap can quickly overwhelm pistol shot in damage and utility. It's extra cool too such that different +dmg amounts see different relative performances where double tap will go back under pistol shot. Let's start with a baseline, albeit favorable for double tap setup. HWM has +10% dmg memory, +3% crit memory, +10% crit trinket, +20% dmg trinket. Nothing special just normal finds. The expected damage from sharpshot doubletap is then 6.765 twice. The expected damage from pistol shot is 13.52. So it is totally completely fine to say you dont think it's a problem, you don't think it's overpowered because of this. But there are repeatable and easily achieved conditions where double tap outdamages pistol shot and I think that's a shortcoming that should be addressed. Again I totally respect thinking the negatives outweigh the positives and it isn't crazy, but I'm just showing the math that it is simple and repeatable for the utility move to out damage the damage move. A fun little side note is this happens due to A. rounding in the game, and B. the crit chances. Two instances of at least base 10% is a total chance of 18% to crit once, and 1% to crit twice, versus pistol shot's base 15%. Doesn't matter if you're taking aim but insanely helpful the rest of the time!
imo the hypothetical you listed of having those trinkets and memories are not normal. None of that is guaranteed and in the case of memories can take several hours. Can I see the math on how you achieved these numbers? Because from what I can tell it's only a .01 difference under specific conditions. So yeah I don't think that's OP. DT also isn't a pure utility move. It has execute and if it can't do enough damage for it to matter then it's pointless. It's very niche, but sharpshot's double tap work really well with runnaway's firestarter. Besides the basic damage you can get up to 6 burn per turn on a single enemy. It can absolutely melt bosses.
Funny how the team you recommended for sharpshot is the team I beat act 3 with a few hours ago. Can definitely vouch for it being solid, tho I switched Jester to soloist right before the boss to dodge tank limerance.
A really fun, although unlikely and stupid way that Sharpshot's double tap can outperform pistol shot is with trinkets that have a chance to apply DoT on hit. You get more chances to proc with it. This is not at all good and i would not recommend it, but it sure feels fun turning the ranged dps path into a blight character
The more I play Rogue the more I realise Take Aim is bait, unless paired with Shadowborn Repartee you get too much riposte tokens if you go for both Take Aim and Duelist's Advance. The speed token is the most important factor to take into account: it's really nice if Dismas has trinkets (non indelible Sharpness Charm for example) and quirks that reduce his speed but not as good if you have more than his base speed which is already pretty good. The speed token also helps with the Rat Skull crit token generation. The mastery is nice but I wouldnt say that is needed, it's +1 or +2 dmg for each riposte (3 or 4 with crit) Rogue's Duelist's Advance gives Dismas his very needed tankiness for a front-rank character. Rogue has arguably the worst Highway Robbery since he cant use it in one of the 2 ranks he's usually in
I don't fully disagree, but calling it bait is bit harsh. It can feel waste if he doesn't get hit at all keep generating ripost tokens. I feel take aim is good pick if HWM is not planning to move that much or take down cleave bosses. But if the plan is use grape shoot/point blank and constat reposition. Then yea take aim doesn't help that plan.
@hawkonroyale431 with bait I dont mean it's a bad ability but one that shouldn't be taken in all ocassions. Certain paths modify abilities so that you have to take them 100% of times, Alchemist and her blight attacks, Rogue's Wicked Slice, Sharpshot pistol shot etc. Take Aim is a situational tool for certain teams but I think the character loses a lot of utility if you dont go for movement skills in order to fix team positioning. The combat loop of Duelist's > Grapeshot until you execute with Wicked is more reliable, consumes a lot of enemy defensive tokens and if paired with crit items/quirks you suddenly turn into a stress heal machine with Grapeshot. I swap Grapeshot for PBS against most bosses. The other two slots could be Tracking and Pistol Shot for reach, Double Tap against bosses, Double cross against enemies with Block (Tangle enemies) and to support your own heavy hitters like Shadowborn Grave Robber, Warlock, etc. I dont usually run Highway robbery since you cant use it in first rank but there are fights where is mandatory to have it (Exemplar, Ravenous Reach)
Agree, it kinda is a bait. You only really need one riposte skill and Advance is arguably the better one since it does initial dmg, some move utility, gives a defensive token and most importantly has no cd. 3cd is waaaay too long for what TA does, the 25% dmg is minimal and doesn't affect base dmg and the extra riposte tokens are nice but usually never fully used up anyways. It would make sense to buff TA but for whatever reason RH decided to nerf Rogue DA below Wanderer level instead?! I don't even remember when this was done because it used to give 3x riposte as well. The whole path has reached a point where I'd say it's actually bait to pick it. It doesn't really offer anything of value compared to the other paths & wanderer but the sacrifice in a crit TA are quite enormous.
Oh damn somehow I, with my maths degree, never considered that 2 crits isn't equal to 3 turns of damage, it's equal to 3 turns of *maximum damage roll* damage Damn now I'm really wishing I used Take Aim way more before the nerf
Can’t wait to see what abomination will be probably a upfront melee or tank and hopefully the beast form will be used otherwise it’s a abomination meme 2 and this is a good Highwayman Guide glad they are buffing and nerfing to make things balanced 👍

Oh damn somehow I, with my maths degree, never considered that 2 crits isn't equal to 3 turns of damage, it's equal to 3 turns of *maximum damage roll* damage
Damn now I'm really wishing I used Take Aim way more before the nerf
Good content as background sound when working or whatever
Does the revolving door team still work? ( cleric , crusader crusader highway man)
Can't run multiple of the same hero in this one but yes the idea works
Shuffle you're my hero
Ive got some succes with Duelist 1,HWM 2 with rouge path,Jester 3,and Vestal 4. This looks like a good dancing team to me. Or am i missing something?
It looks good on paper
@ and in reality? :D
@@Nyucsi You may wanna use consecration of fortitude and battle ballad, otherwise yeah it's good
when are we going get reworked/new man-at-arms video?
Ideally next week
@ShuffleFM to be honest i am very excited for this. your videos helps me a lot at darkest dungeon 2 especially this dismas and the new jester video
Hey bro, cool video!
Ive been back into dd2 and wanted know if the duelist video is still a gokd means to understand character🙏🏿
It is, she hasn't changed :)
Can’t wait to see what abomination will be probably a upfront melee or tank and hopefully the beast form will be used otherwise it’s a abomination meme 2 and this is a good Highwayman Guide glad they are buffing and nerfing to make things balanced 👍
Man at Arms got nerfed heavily. So does Jester's Encore. Red Hook nerfed two of my S tiers heroes.
MAA still insane on wanderer. Now he has some different things to do instead. RIP sergeant though. Encore absolutely needed the nerf imo
Shuffle, maybe first of all you will finish DD1 Heroes guides. Btw good video as always.
I should. There are only 4 or 5 left
over under 2.5 "don't get it twisted"
Mods review when?

Can't believe they made dismas balanced... The crystalline gunpowder loading shameful locket toting corvid eyed god of thunder & lightning from days of yore is no longer. Now we have to use actual strategy & can't just bring along clones of the man himself to make skeletons bleed. Pity.
