Already tried it with bowels and salah. DC with no experience and they think he will magically change the franchise. He is only as good as his QB and OC
Who he surrounds himself with is important, just as his ability to check ownership and be trusted to make football decisions with his GM with no distractions. An established HC takes the job and likely isn't putting up with any BS from Woody or the front office and will do it his way.
Detroit’s defense is constantly giving up points, had a bottom 3 pass defense, and just got lit up by a rookie in a playoff game. Not just another 1st time HC with a defensive background, it’s one who hasn’t even run a strong defense…. He’ll have nothing to offer a young QB when we draft one, he won’t offer shit to our offense, and it’s been impossible for us to find good OC’s with inexperienced defensive minded head coaches. The problem with many of the offensive/experienced guys is that they don't want this job. I think some people simply prefer an offensive HC. I prefer a proven and established leader. Any first time guy comes comes with questions. I think Glenn can be a great HC in many situations but the Jets job is simply different. Many x factors. I'll never understand how many have changed their tune from a month ago. Woody was acknowledged as the biggest problem and it's tough to see a first time HC/GM pairing keeping him out of things. We never go the established HC route and there were a number of candidates to interview that we didn't, or they didn't want to, whatever the reason, it doesn't give me a reason to celebrate the process or hire until actual results are shown
Just wondering what Aaron Glenn has done to deserve being a head coach? His defense has been one of the worst in the NFL. The lions had one of the easiest schedules and they had 3 marquee games Buffalo and twice against Vikes. Buffalo scored 48 points and Vikes put up 29 and while the lions held them to 9 points in the last meeting it was Darnold (sp?) who prevented the Vikes from scoring not the Lions D. Spags would have been a 1000% better option.
The real coaches that were proven were to be had last year not to mention Lamar aswell, it is what it is we should be so lucky if we land Glenn compared to what is available
They missed out on Payton and Harbaugh, but even this yr plenty of guys who had winning experience that the Jets seemed to have no interest in, or they wouldn't take the job. Whatever the reason it doesn't give me a reason to celebrate landing on another first time hire. Results will get me excited
"I would never say I hope the Jets lose so they can fire Glen", if infact, that's who the Jets select as the next coach . I've always have said I don't want a first-time head coach...I need someone who's been there, & done that !! No offense to Glen!!
Similar mindset. Any Jets fan would be rooting for him if hired. It would also be fair to have doubts or questions based on the teams history and unknowns that come with a first time HC taking on this task
I loved Aaron Glenn as a Jet player. That this train wreck of a team needs an experienced HC, with a history of success. We are right back to the place where we hired Robert Saleh. I truly hope we are not at the beginning of 4 more losing years
I think most fans all want the same thing. But it's definitely fair to question the process of a team that has repeatedly failed and ignored many candidates with winning experience.
Agreed, but also part of why I don't think this process deserves praise. Their ineptitude has kept many of the top candidates away with others they seemingly didn't even want to interview
i'm in agreement with ya PT..... need to see results. Not question Glenn, but at this point in time it's not about a HC or a GM..... it's about the direction of this franchise. I now those guys are important. but this franchise has been a joke for so long it's now time to see the change. We've talked about it long enough, now it's time to see it, no matter who the HC or GM is....
Experience or Noob coach I think no matter what it will be the same results. It comes down to winning and losing how this city treats you. The two things that needs to be fix is ownership and how the media is covering this team. Woody is an idiot that wants to be the center of attention. The media will keep covering the Jets as jokes until the team puts a clam on that
No one is goin to talk about Joe Douglas article in sports illustrated relieved to be fired an having to answer to teenage boys an as long is woody Johnson is the owner we ain’t doin shit
Real jets fans brace yourself for another cycle of 1) social media junkies overrate every off season move the jets make just to get positive feedback on social media 2) pick a scapegoat from among the guys they didn't hype (since no way jets fans were wrong) when we are inevitably disappointed during the season 3) realize the whole team is overrated when changing the scapegoat does nothing, blame woody and cry that we're cursed 4) repeat
I've been through the cycle enough, hope we don't have a repeat. Fair to be open minded and a give a chance to whoever is hired, but also completely fair to question the entire process when they haven't gotten it right in over a decade. Results are all that matter
I am not so sure that we should put the onus of changing the culture on Aaron Glenn. The biggest problem with the Jets is Woody Johnson. He needs to make changes to himself and the way that he conducts business before anything else will change. Robert Saleh has interviewed for a number of head coaching jobs and he is currently a finalist for the Jaguars job. That tells me that the rest of the NFL believes that Saleh wasn't put in an environment in which he could succeed. If Woody Johnson doesn't change, then nothing about the Jets will ever change.
I agree with most of what you said. The biggest problem is indeed Woody. I do think that a strong HC is probably the only thing that can change the culture though. Maybe someone powerful/established enough can garner that respect and force ownership to back off. Idn if a first time coach can do that
@LetsTalkJetsRadio I think it really depends on how the HC comes in. If Glenn is it , he has leverage, bc Woody supposedly wants him,,but Glenn has other suitors so if Woody doesn't agree to stay out of the coaching he can walk. We also can hope woody after how embarrassing it has gotten will realize he is not considered a good employer and pull back ( I know wishful thinking ). He had several of the top.hc candidates out there turn the jets down, and the word out there is they didn't want to work for Woody.
I predicted weeks ago Aaron Glenn. I am not excited about the hire. Being a fan since 1980 would of liked a proven HC. I always feel The management are chancers.
I’m sorry , I would not hire him. Nothing personal but I really don’t know how he distinguished himself. Someone needs to explain to me why he’s a better candidate than Brian Flores? I think this isn’t a place for first time coaches. The fact that we aren’t interviewing McCarthy is baffling
Do you even know if they asked him? And maybe he said no? McCarthy has downsides too, mostly he is a stubborn old mule who insists he is an offensive genius when his offense is Hacketts.
I want winning experience, not just experience. Flores doesn't do it for me. Would honestly prefer swinging on a Glenn or McCown over Flores who has won nothing as a HC
@@LetsTalkJetsRadio Flores resume is undoubtedly better than Glenn’s. He was one game under .500 with a team that was picked to finish with the first overall draft pick in one of those years. He also completely turned around a bad Vikings D. What has Glenn done to earn this job? Someone please explain to me
I won't say I know how it's going to end. I like many of Glenn's qualities. This job is just different. Think it's definitely fair to question how they land on the candidate that they do and whether a first time guy is capable of changing this mess
Jets fans do this every year. We shoot for the stars expecting nothing less and then we settle for the ugly girl at the prom and convince ourselves we actually ended up with the Prom Queen.
I'm keeping an open mind, like what Glenn brings to the table..just need to see results before declaring any new era of Jets football like we've done in the past.
@ proven ability of identifying defensive talent in the draft and free agency , implementing that talent in his defensive scheme which resulted in multiple top 10 defenses, proven ability to adapt his defense when they sustained injuries. Glenn has not shown that ability which is very worrisome since he will be managing personnel on offense and defense
I agree. Thinking that Glenn was a better DC than Saleh is crazy. Doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a better HC though. But how do we know? Taking Glenn over Flores is crazy
Listen bro, you gotta right to be negative. At the end of the day, we’re all fans who’ve committed blood, sweat, anger, and tears to this team. We’re tired of all the losing and the organization not properly self evaluating what they are doing wrong. If you’re an Aaron Glenn fan, you’re entitled to that opinion. If you’re not a Glenn fan and wanna root for him to go, honestly that’s fine too and those fans can do them. They aren’t less or more of fans than anyone else. We’ve all seen the same processes, sayings, and kinds of hires take place. I’m personally not an Aaron Glenn fan because the Jets have hired defensive coach after defensive coach in this century and it hasn’t worked. Don’t give me the argument that “The one offensive guy they hired was Gase”. They simply picked the wrong offensive candidate when you had McCarthy, Kingsbury, and Monken as finalists. And didn’t we hear this “leader of men” shit before with Saleh? What happened? It blew up in our face. Not to mention, Glenn’s unit outside of 2024 hasn’t been a top unit. And injuries aren’t an excuse on either side of the ball. In laymen’s terms: This process has been screwy. If fans want Glenn, that’s fine. If you don’t want Glenn and want him gone that’s fine. We’ve all suffered with this team and at the end of the day, especially when you invest money in a team that hasn’t had a winning season in 9 years, playoffs in 14, home playoff game since before I was born.
The three coaches you mentioned didn't interview with the Jets, they turned the jets down ( Moncken, klingsbury, McCarthy ) . We did interview Nagy, but come on, he is a loser ,he was not a great head coach . I wanted an experienced head coach and I have questions with Glenn. That said every coach we hire has the great big storm cloud of woody and dicky and their interference .
Lol I won't go terrible hire route but I understand all the questions and concerns. Warranted for a team who never gets it right. Prove it on the field and everyone will buy in
I don't know. I mean, who's left? No coach who won a Super Bowl or got to the playoffs I think we can get. Woody is keeping us from getting an experienced coach. No one wants to work with him. I have no faith in what they do. I lost all respect for this organization.
That's part of what aggravates me about praising this process. Just bc some coaches didn't want to interview here (others we never reached out too) doesn't mean they get a praise for possibly getting the next best. Staying open and legitimately do like Glenn, just so many unknowns about a first time HC combined with this job in particular
The fact is no matter who they hire it would be a dart throw or a 2nd time HC who failed elsewhere. There is no GREAT candidate coming in to save the day. Only guy that made that cut was Vrabel but he was never coming here. Everything we question about Glenn you can say the same thing about any 1st time coach. I am somewhere in the middle. I am not saying Glenn is a lock to be good but i also don't think he is Salah 2.0 which i have seen people say and that is just a lazy take. No matter who they hire the Jets as an organization need to prove it to the fans. I will say this though, there are worse hires to make than Glenn. Anybody want to go down the Arthur Smith road? Because if Glenn goes to the Saints i can see him being a finalist.
I think the Saleh comparisons are simply bc there is no way to project how a first time HC adjusts to the spotlight, or how the people he brings in will do. It's completely different when everything falls on you vs being a DC. And this job in particular comes with many other variables with ownership and the losing drought. I like a lot of Glenn's qualities but I can't praise a process that didn't include many candidates with winning experience
I mean Belichick, Carroll, Gruden, even McCarthy. No interviews for them with 16 guys interviewing? I dont get it...Vrabel and Johnson I know didnt want to come here but that also doesnt give me reason to celebrate getting the next man up. I came into this process, like many, acknowledging the need for someone proven who has been there and done it before.
@ Belicheck lol stop please. After what he did to the Jets ok. Carroll is old you want a 74 year old man coaching this team? Gruden is getting paid huge bucks by Barstool to sit on his ass that’s why nobody is bringing him in. Mcarthy they passed over for Gase so that bridge was probably burned.
Yes. The fact that none of them including Belichick were interviewed is why this process is tough for me to praise. I'll support and get behind whoever it is, but praising a process that didn't include many of the top experienced names just seems crazy to me
Anyone praising any of these teams looking for a new coach is honestly laughable. Jets aside, all these teams looking for a coach is because their team was a disaster the year/years before……so just because they hire a new coach doesn’t mean anything is fixed lol. It all comes down to wins and losses for ALL these teams
Yes, but I think other jobs are different compared to the Jets job. The combo of a meddling owner and 14 yr playoff drought is not an easy fix. Many unknowns with a first time guy already. Also the worry that Woody is simply going with someone he feels he can control
Wasn't the general concensus....that the NYJ needed a proven HC to address the Woody Johnson concerns.....and the non-existent team culture? See how fickle NYJ fans are???...and why/how Woody Johnson keeps making fools of his fan base. Shameful.
I don’t think Glenn is a sure thing. I also disagree with people asserting we should go out and get a sure thing kind of coach. That’s ridiculously unrealistic. We have no choice because we are the NY Jets. Even a sure thing experienced coach is NOT a sure thing in NY. Look at Aaron Rodgers. You can question it all you want, but we do not have the pedigree as an organization to demand any better. Jesus, of course we have to take a chance on the new coach. Look at the dumpster we own and get real. It’s a dumpster full of donkey dung. Fans need to take a chill pill and wake the hell up. No, Glenn is not a sure fire culture changer, ok??? Are we good now? We can all agree on that. Now this is what we have to work with. FIGURE IT OUT. Coach Glenn DO YOUR JOB! Just get Garrett open and I throw him the football. That’s what it is rn.
@joes3844 pretty much and I'm sure in order for them to want to come here they probably can't afford to pay them. With experience comes more money. Gruden, Mccarthy, any others your gonna have to pay them to come and fix a disaster.
Thx for keeping it a buck
Imo: hire mccown as oc and im still upset we couldn’t retain Ulbrich. At least for st coord or an assistant. LGJ 🧸

i'm in agreement with ya PT..... need to see results. Not question Glenn, but at this point in time it's not about a HC or a GM..... it's about the direction of this franchise. I now those guys are important. but this franchise has been a joke for so long it's now time to see the change. We've talked about it long enough, now it's time to see it, no matter who the HC or GM is....
Exactly! Actions not words. I'll be supportive but real excitement will be tough until real change starts to become apparent
Experience or Noob coach I think no matter what it will be the same results. It comes down to winning and losing how this city treats you. The two things that needs to be fix is ownership and how the media is covering this team.
Woody is an idiot that wants to be the center of attention.
The media will keep covering the Jets as jokes until the team puts a clam on that
And he still talks to parcell
So does Mike Francesa. So?
I don’t give a shit about anything until we find a franchise qb
How about a competent offensive line first?
I really would like an offensive guy PT. I also want someone with some experience too, I don’t want Glenn to get eaten alive here.
I'd prefer an experienced proven leader more than offense or defense
No one is goin to talk about Joe Douglas article in sports illustrated relieved to be fired an having to answer to teenage boys an as long is woody Johnson is the owner we ain’t doin shit
at 3:03 I had to cut you off bro sorry
Elaborate....are you disputing the Lions defense didn't struggle down the stretch?
@ no disputing the lions giving up points the last few games changing people minds or talking points. Its so lazy
Real jets fans brace yourself for another cycle of 1) social media junkies overrate every off season move the jets make just to get positive feedback on social media 2) pick a scapegoat from among the guys they didn't hype (since no way jets fans were wrong) when we are inevitably disappointed during the season 3) realize the whole team is overrated when changing the scapegoat does nothing, blame woody and cry that we're cursed 4) repeat
jets always win the offseason
if there was a super bowl for winning the offseason, then the jets would be like the patriots under brady/belichek
Saleh is going to sf as the DC.
I agree with most of what you said. The biggest problem is indeed Woody. I do think that a strong HC is probably the only thing that can change the culture though. Maybe someone powerful/established enough can garner that respect and force ownership to back off. Idn if a first time coach can do that
@LetsTalkJetsRadio
I think it really depends on how the HC comes in.
At least it’s not flores
Very true lol that would have been a tough buy in. Eventually I'll come around to whoever, but my expectations are admittedly limited right now
I predicted weeks ago Aaron Glenn.
Flores has issues too, like his coaching turnover. Flores is a great DC, but a Head Coach builds a team and Flores had problems with that.
Someone please explain to me
@@LetsTalkJetsRadioyou want the Jets to “ swing” on someone??? Really? How do you think that’s gonna turn out ? lol smh
Know need to apologize all true jets know how this going to end
I won't say I know how it's going to end. I like many of Glenn's qualities. This job is just different. Think it's definitely fair to question how they land on the candidate that they do and whether a first time guy is capable of changing this mess
Jets fans do this every year. We shoot for the stars expecting nothing less and then we settle for the ugly girl at the prom and convince ourselves we actually ended up with the Prom Queen.
LOSING SINCE 1969 !!! AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO!!!
I'm keeping an open mind, like what Glenn brings to the table..just need to see results before declaring any new era of Jets football like we've done in the past.
Saleh was a more accomplished and proven coaching candidate 4 years ago than Glenn is now. That’s the frustration.
How do you figure saleh was more accomplished
@ proven ability of identifying defensive talent in the draft and free agency , implementing that talent in his defensive scheme which resulted in multiple top 10 defenses, proven ability to adapt his defense when they sustained injuries. Glenn has not shown that ability which is very worrisome since he will be managing personnel on offense and defense
No he wasn’t lol
I agree. Thinking that Glenn was a better DC than Saleh is crazy. Doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a better HC though. But how do we know? Taking Glenn over Flores is crazy
@@painless465 Flores would be a disaster in New York
It’s one of 3 of there 2nd interview’s… Stay calm peeps… sooner or later they finally get it right… Knicks were able to do it
Woody.
Woody.
Woody.
Woody.
Woody.
Not going to happen…
Guess what? Woody isn’t going to sell, why would he? Top candidates don’t want to come here - why would they? I don’t hear fans praising the process.
Glenn terrible hire. We have had 1 good offense in 20 years and yet again we pick a defensive guy. Sad, jets are doomed yet again.
Did we even ask McCarthy or Carroll for an interview?
That's part of what aggravates me about praising this process. Just bc some coaches didn't want to interview here (others we never reached out too) doesn't mean they get a praise for possibly getting the next best. Staying open and legitimately do like Glenn, just so many unknowns about a first time HC combined with this job in particular
Just saying the name hynee says it all for me give me a break
😭😭
What top candidates didn’t they interview? You have to name names here. Ben Johnson didn’t want to come here l’ll give you that.
Can we not just hire an experienced HC and be done with it? If the Gruden's, McCarthy's and Carroll's of the world pass then so be it.
Yes. The fact that none of them including Belichick were interviewed is why this process is tough for me to praise. I'll support and get behind whoever it is, but praising a process that didn't include many of the top experienced names just seems crazy to me
@ Couldn’t agree more, PT.
Saleh 2.0
Similarities are there but Glenn would deserve a fair chance to prove he isn't Saleh. I just can't celebrate anything before results
im gonna be honest id be happy with Glenn, but this franchise will not win with Woody
I'm happy with Glenn compared to other options that seem realistic...not exactly thrilled when comparing to the rest of the field coming in
Wasn't the general concensus....that the NYJ needed a proven HC to address the Woody Johnson concerns.....and the non-existent team culture?
Lol sure just ignore he doesn't change team operations.
Another Bowles Saleh 1st year defensive coach whose defense got torched?..Yeah let’s hire him. 3 more losing yrs. Rename and Relocate this team!
Can we think about changing the fan culture? Too much negativity 👎🏽
Win and it changes 🤷♂️
No, this is not the right choice (Glenn). Detroit's defense isn't good and he will not change the culture. Flores is the right choice.
I want nothing to do with Flores either. Honestly would rather take a swing with Glenn if it was between the two. Don't see the hype with Flores
Nope. See you in three years.
Hes another inexperienced nobody who's not even good at his job as D coordinator. He gives up 30-40 every game. Nothing impresses me about him.
The Jets NEED an offensive-minded HC and I have no idea why Kingsbury and Mike McCarthy aren’t being interviewed.
Because they don’t want to come here
@@joes3844Kingsbury doesn’t want to leave Washington
@joes3844 pretty much and I'm sure in order for them to want to come here they probably can't afford to pay them. With experience comes more money. Gruden, Mccarthy, any others your gonna have to pay them to come and fix a disaster.
I'm not too caught up on offense or defense, just wanted someone with winning experience as a HC who is a proven leader
