I'm a logger! This is a very sad thing to watch. This is (or was) one of the most trees we harvested in the Wl kettle Moraine area. Now it will take its place with the chestnut. This was stopable when it started in Detroit Mi! But are leaders did nothing! Unlike the chestnut we had Gov. Agency's to stop this! Detroit new about this years before it spread !theu new how to stop it can anyone tell me why they didn't! And why we aren't sueing them for breaking the law! Thats right there is a law for this and they did nothing!

Good thing that bloody insect hasn't reached Utah! I've got a five year old ash growing in my back yard. It's my fastest growing tree so far and I've become quite attached to it.

Wouldn’t you want to plant more ash trees to outpace the emerald ash borer instead of not planting more?
The tree is becoming endangered so why not plant billions of them to help overcome the issue?
(I just bought 35 White Ash cuttings from a fella on Etsy and I am excited to plant them here to beautify the state of Illinois, especially in the fall.)

The ash borer population would increase to match the higher population of ash trees. Food chain

@@GibbSaw63 Exactly, as we saw with the ubiquitous street-tree "monoculture" of American Elm.

Because insects propagate faster than ash trees.
