      @@lmao9526They might understand a few words, but I imagine it's more in their reading the tone of voice and body language. I can get our rambunctious Tortie to stop misbehaving just by saying her name in a particular, sharp tone of voice. Stops right in her tracks, stares at me with eyes wide for a moment, then slinks off to probably resume misbehaving, just out of my sight.

      @@williamfluck148 you haven't seen mad. This is nothing. My former cat had 2 personalities: one inside the house and another when he strayed past his comfort zone and sort of got confused, lost, threatned by the neighbor cats smells and strange hurtful plants. He was an indoor persian that never explored outside so when he escaped briefly i'd track him down and he would usually be im this state where he was so out of control that he didnt even recognize anybody, it was kind of insane. His eyes were wide open he would be in a licking outward state and in a stance ready to destroy you if you backed down or touched him. My mother once got bitten and took 10 stitches. I had to use a broom that he would lash on to in a berserk state which he forcefull grabbed on to and i would transport him to the house like that into a closed room so he could cool out for at least half an hour. It was very stressful. We couldn't let him leave because we wanted to protect him and also because he would get into that state. But want to know the best part? He was the sweetest most delicate cat I have ever seen. i just loved him very deerly and miss him a lot. He went to his polar personality. It was really extreme good and bad. Cats are awesome. He was a very missed company.

    • @RedZeshinX
      @RedZeshinX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      @@klajdisinanaj3977 That's the wrong attitude, you have to think of cats as basically little people with their own dignity, autonomy and will, but who are simply unable to speak or understand what you say. Would you "assert dominance" on a deaf and mute human being in order to exact their compliance? Sure you could break their will so they subject themselves to your every whim, but you will never have their trust, nor will you have a truly loving bond/relationship, they will always tolerate you with suspicion and animosity the way a political dissident regards the rule of an occasionally benevolent yet fascistic overlord. If you are patient, loving and kind you can gradually earn a cats trust and teach it to tolerate the strange things you force upon it that it can't quite understand, even if they're painful, to the point that they eventually figure out that you're not doing these things TO them but ultimately FOR them.

      My am. shorthair was a feral for the first couple years of her life. She doesn't mind getting in the carrier and being toted around at all, but as soon as she hears the car engine or we get rolling she's freaking out clawing at the gate to the carrier and howling. Luckily her checkup vet is only a 3 minute drive, but the few times I've had to take her to the animal hospital which is 30m away it's been a real ordeal. She's panic breathing by the time we get there and I have to let her out in the car to calm down a bit before we go in. As long as the engine is off and the car isn't moving she's totally fine with being in there, even curious to explore the new environment. I think it's deep seated fear of cars/engine noises from when she was an outdoor cat.

If a situation or overall atmosphere seems tense or threatening to a cat (or any animal for that matter), then yes, it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest for the cat to react in the way it did. However, she never raised her voice, or had a certain tone that would threaten or anger the cat. It’s more so the temperament of the animal itself, and how it’s feeling as of currently. Moods can be caused by anything, not just by provocation.

    That's one voicestrus cat, when he hangs out over the edge of the cabinet he's really belting it out there. I could only imagine it would have to be much louder in person. he's definitely making the point very clear no doubt.

    Couple tricks I've used to get my kitties used to going to the vet/in the car/going into their carrier
    #1 Keep the cat carrier in your living room/bedroom/whatever room you spend a lot of time in. Keep it open at all times. Helps your cat think of it as part of its "normal" environment
    #2 Put a small blanket/towel that your cat(or you) sleeps on a lot in that carrier with the door open. The carrier has a familiar scent and calms the cat
    #3 Occasionally put food/treats in the cat carrier. Put the carrier in different places in the house when you do this.
    #4 After you got the cat used to the carrier, put it in the front seat of the car with you in a way so the cat can see you.

    • @Discordia5
      @Discordia5 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This is great advice! My cats love relaxing in their carrier because I have always practiced steps 1 & 2 with them.

    • @realevostevo
      @realevostevo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And if at all possible, occasionally take your cat to another place that he or she enjoys. Much easier with dogs as a trip in the car could mean going to the park or beach. With cats you might be more limited to a friend's house that has a pet that yours enjoys being around. But at the very least try to get your pet to not associate the carrier with going to a place they don't enjoy.

      My deaf cat was very fearful of the vet and could let out the loudest meows you ever heard - - even louder than the cat here. @Aaron Smith's suggestions are fantastic. I did most of what he recommended except for putting treats in the carrier. Instead, I put my cat's favorite catnip toy in there. The other thing I did was after every vet visit was to do the drive-through at a fast food chicken finger place on the way home. My cat loved chicken fingers. I would order a lunch for myself and the workers would give me a free chicken finger for my cat after seeing my kitty in her carrier strapped into the front passenger seat. I would strip off the coating and let the cat have the chicken finger. Eventually, my cat couldn't wait to go to the vet.

    our cats are very different, one sees the vet, and especially their assistant as their personal flatterer and is so much more well behaved than he ever is at home.
    our fussy little princess makes her displeasure known to the entire city.
    and our third is so absolutely chill the doc could probably rummage around in his chest cavity without bothering him.

He is very afraid and ready to fight to defend himself-thus the hissing and growling. Hot to give him some space to get it together. Then try again with lots of reassurance. Beautiful boy?

    My two cats both listened to his tantrum and shouting with a level of awe. When my tom cat Jinx went to the vets to get fixed his sister Chloe threw a massive tantrum when I brought him back home. I had to put them in separate rooms so Jinx could recover from the procedure. Chloe also behaved the way Niles is in this video when I went on holiday to Tunisia and my brother took her to his house to look after her for me whilst I was away. She was storming from room to room in my place when she got home behaving like this.

    Agree. Abyssinians require a lot of trust building and patience, especially when confronted by strangers, ie the vet. They can be easily stressed. They bond tightly with one person, most affectionate cats ever. I'm honored to be trusted so completely by my cats, but I pity this poor boy ....

    I had a British shorthair the most placid loving chilled flop cat ever loved everyone loved the car loved water even coming into the shower as soon as he seen the vets he turned into a devil cat I never had problems giving him meds clipping his nails or anything but I don’t know he just went mental and then he would do exactly this for about an hour after no matter what I did to try to calm him or comfort him he would even refuse his favourite treats have he would usually do a back flip and high 5 for. The vet said it’s just his way of basically communicating his feelings just as we would if we were cranky. Some animals are very hyper sensitive to smells like death and certain other smells that animals release when in pain and fear which can cause these reactions. All animals pick up on these and you will often see them nervous fearful even attempting to hide and reactions like “oscar’s” were on the severe side. So we got used to it spoke back to him saying yes we know it’s terrible and apologising while he went from room to room making sure everyone knew he was wronged then he would go up into his cat tree sulk nap then he was over it. God I miss him. 💕

    When I’m in my room I play my playlist of music. My 2 Abby’s mix & 1 domestic have calmed down somewhat when I take them for a ride to the vet. I play the music they hear everyday. So far they haven’t freaked out like this going to the vet. I do bring their favorite snacks if needed. Toys too. I sit in the backseat w/ the crate and continue to comfort them.
    My male Abby yells like this when he’s wants something & I won’t give it to him. I don’t tease him with it. He just wants what he wants!! I tell him to “stop it” he tries to over power my voice! I just stare at him like “I’ve never had vocal cats like this in my life!”
    My 2nd Abby kitten female is so adorable!
    She’s beyond hyper! Makes us laugh everyday. The stuff she gets into and plays w/. She’s very creative!!
    They both get the Abby breed from their mother. Idk who their father is but the Abby blood is really strong in both of them. We didn’t know we had a special cats until we took them for their yearly vaccines & the vet gave them a once over. Ever since I’ve done my research!! We’ve (me & my 3 cats) even watch tv shows together about cats and about their breed (Abby’s). It’s so cute to watch them pay attention to the tv. ♥️
    Yes they’re smart, demanding, cuddly & affectionate creatures. Me & my cats talk everyday, all day! 😆😆

My Aby cats were upset by this video/audio, could sense Niles'stress They have always been sweet tempered but our vet said the breed in general has a short fuse in an office situation. Abys put their love and trust into one person and obviously feels his trust has been violated. Abys are very sensitive, not your ordinary casual type of cat.
