@@potatopotato8360 Born 1990 and can confirm, the 6th gen was the coolest period and generation ever. I grew up on the NES and N64 but that whole period from 1999-2006 was magical. Sci-Fi and technology was everywhere, I think that The Matrix was a huge influence on the whole entertainment industry

The GameCube was actually more powerful than the PS2 and the Dreamcast. The N64 was more powerful than the PSOne. And the SNES was more powerful than the Sega Genesis. Nintendo has kept power in mind most of the time for their systems.
Wii U is ultimately the best Nintendo console. It plays all Nintendo games, even most of the Switch library. But the GameCube and SNES were undoubtedly the hypest consoles of their time.
@@darknight10000 just goes to show that more power = less sales. When something is harder to optimize and make games for because of complexity, devs will ditch it. See also the PS3

And the Xbox Series X absolutely creams the PS5 in pure specs other than SSD speed but we'll have to wait and see how the next generation turns out. Also, the the GameCube did end up outselling the Dreamcast (for a number of reasons) and the SNES managed to beat out the Genesis. Power can equal sales but it depends on how that power is utilized. Sega made so many missteps in the 90s leading to their demise with the Dreamcast. And of course the PS3's architecture was fully capable of outputting spectacular looking games (Sony's own first-party devs did it all the time). The issue of course was the Cell Processor. It COULD deliver on all the promises Sony said it would. The problem was that it often took too much time to figure out how to get to that point. It was fully possible but most developers didn't want to spend the time and money to do it. Some did. Most didn't.

I was 10/11 during the PS2 and Cube launch at it was a time as a child were the future seemed so sci fi and mysterious. Matrix, 13th Floor, Fight Club, the PS2 launch, the music at the time... Never before and never again came this feeling of futuristic achievement and mystery back. What a glorious time to be a child
I like how Nintendo brought back the cool ads for the switch. When the Wii came out, they tried to aim the ads more towards kids, and the Wii U ads... god they were terrible
