SIDE TURKEY | An evening walk through beautiful Side Old Town in Turkey including shops and Temple

- A night time walk through stunning Side in Turkey from the Athena Temple to Side Old Town shops and restaurants. Come with us for a walking tour around this amazing historical old town to check the shopping and bars and restaurants in this fascinating part of the world.
Side is a resort town on Turkey’s southern Mediterranean coast. An ancient port city, it's known for long beaches and Greco-Roman ruins. In the center are the remains of the 2nd-century Antique Theatre, which seated up to 15,000.
The white marble columns of the Hellenistic Temple of Apollo near the harbour. Other sites are sprinkled throughout, with finds housed at the Side Museum, a restored Roman bath complex.
We begin our walk at the Temple of Apollo and Athena in Side, also known as Apollon Temple or Apollon Tapınağı.
Side is a tourist, holiday and cultural hub on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.
Down at Side harbour, the re-created colonnade of the Temple of Athena marches towards the blue sea, while at the top of Side old town's gentle hill, the 2nd-century theatre still lords it up over the surrounding countryside.
Between these two ancient relics, the lanes of this once-docile fishing village have long since given themselves over to souvenir peddlers and restaurant touts hustling for business.
Despite the constant stream of visitors, the liberal scattering of glorious Roman and Hellenistic ruins sitting incongruously between shops means you can just about imagine (if you scrunch up your eyes) the tourists picking over togas rather than T-shirts.
Among many major attractions in Side is the Temple of Apollo which is known as the symbol of Side. The people of Turkey and the foreigners have all revered the beauty, ancient charm and loveliness of this temple throughout the years.
From the temple we walk down past the harbour passing the amazing restaurants and bars looking out to sea and you can sit here watching the boats go out for trips.
If you are looking for the best place to eat in Side Turkey then this is most definitely the place to head for.But Side is also the best place to shop too so we continue our night time walk along the harbour front and turn right to head up to the amazing shops that come to life in the evening time.
You can find the best shops in Side here, selling everything from sunglasses to clothes, shoes, even tea and foodAt the end of your day shopping in Side you will want to relax and have a bite to eat and there are plenty of bars and restaurants here to choose from too.

neil,we've just booked a last minute hiday to side any tips etc what was your honest thoughts of the place,would you go back?
I'd 100% go back
Tips: go to Managvat Market for the experience and wander round the place, but try not to spend all your money
Do the night boat trip from the harbour - that's fantastic
Get lots of photos around the Appollon temple ruins - it['s amazing
In the main town shopping bit there's a bar hidden away (it's in this video actually) called Pasakoy (I think). inside is an amazing garden thing and it has turtles and allsorts!
The roman amphitheatre is a must visit too (really really cheap to get in). It's at the top of old town
Don't be tempted by any shops who try and pull you in and try to sell you tea 🤣
We did an excursion which was the best day ever, going to an abandoned city, a zoo, a temple, and the blue lagoon type place on a boat which was amazing
Honestly it's a fab place and you'll have a great time but definitely HAGGLE!

What currency is best to take in Antalya? Euro, or Lira?
Any really - they take pretty much anything
Best to change money once over there to lira Prices are in euros and dollars as Turkey has runaway inflation at the moment I went in April and one day it was 17tl to £1 next day it was 20
