Where you live and how your parents speak at home has a lot to do with how you develop an accent.
Neelam is not completely Indian as far as I can remember.... She is a mixed race. Her father is a Gujarati. She was born and raised in Hong Kong.
It really irks me that people are giving her so much shit about her accent. No accent is bad dude. What you'll are doing is no better than those who make fun of "iNdIaN eNglIsh"... Or for that matter any type of English(French/korean etc.)
Her way of speaking coincides with a lot of south east Asian countries ( Thailand / Singaporean)
Of course you can also spot a fake accent but that only tells much about the insecurity the other person has so there is no need to judge someone.
Based on this interview, the only person I am rooting for is Bhavana Pandey, she sounds the most normal and not as cringey. Excited for the show.

Well Priyanka is in the US, married to an American, acting in a show where she has to sound American. She even used to have an accent coach to help her speak like an American. It's natural very everyone to pick up an accent with that much exposure.

It's not groundbreaking cinema, but it's super entertaining. It serves its purpose well. All the woman (except Maheep) are extremely likable

They haven’t worked in movies. Besides, a gigantic number of Indians prefer speaking English. It’s one of India’s official languages.
@@yasteca9803 yes, I am not saying everyone should speak Hindi. We have many official languages, but when their whole family works in bollywood which is hindi film industry, then it's wrong to be ashamed with it. Also even if they speak English, why that fake western accent?
What language they speak outside their workplace is their business. On the issue of accent, people from different strata speak differently. This is how their social group speaks, and there’s nothing wrong with it. The same applies for those who speak in a rather thick ‘Indian’ accent.

I am obsessed with this show! Finally finished the season and now I'm literally checking out each one of the cast mate's social media profiles and interviews. Going into the show, I KNEW it was going to be silly, but what I didn't know was that it was also very heartwarming seeing the love between all these women, and the honesty about suffering career lows of their husbands. I even liked how Sanjay spoke about nepotism and how he should be the poster boy for how nepotism only gets you through the door. It was fun seeing the camaraderie between their daughters, and how they all are like one big family. Also, I loved the glimmer and gloss aspects of the show, especially during their trip to Doha and Gauri's party. I'm looking forward to seeing more of these women in the second season InshaAllah

To say this show was a cringe fest is an understatement. I'm not Indian, but I did grow up watching Bollywood movies as a kid, the amount of times Neelam's acting career was brought up .... am I missing something? Was she really THAT famous as they're making it seem like in the show. Also, what the hell is up with her accent? Its super cringe. It's like she's trying extra hard to make it come across as natural.
I might watch this only and only and only for Neelam 😍
Film companion is always slaves of Bollywood Richie familes. They give give bad ratings to many south films and look down on other industries. They favour Nepo products of people who are friends with Nepo products.
No one wants to see their richness, tell them to act first and make proper content films

Two ways to have a hit presence on OTT:
1. Work hard, create quality content, be ready for critic reviews. Eg. Made in Heaven, Sacred Games, Mirzapur, Scam1992 and many many more. Some hit the popularity mark, some miss it.
2. Create Cringe Content. Reality show format where you don't have to worry about reviews, art and craft, script not necessary, promote bitching and judging of the characters in the show. Eg Indian Matchmaking, Bollywood wives, most of TikTok videos.
Indian matchmaking is not cringe. India's reality is cringe... So racist, casteist, classist, and now getting communal too
