In Antigua 🇦🇬we call it both locust and stinking toe. Powdery texture that could choke you sometimes, but also became sticky in your mouth. We loved it as kids😋
We call this locust in Belize. Don't know why they say it stinks! Just a different smell- smells much better than 'stinky toes!' We loved eating these when we were small!
I am 70 years old , had some of it yesterday afternoon . This time of the year is the season for the ripe ones . There are two types a tiny one with two or three seeds is called stinking toe the larger one is called locusts . The tree is used in the manufacturing of furniture the fruit you eat the bark leaves and the shell of the fruit could be used for tea . It is said to have benefits in lowering blood sugar .
Love this fruit as a child. Just ate it. Parent bought it at the market and we have always enjoy it. It's not as stink as it seem. Very sweet and enjoyable.
Good morning,I'm from St Elizabeth and as a child I ate Stinking Toe; no idea of all these benefits. Thanks for the information. Our Island is blessed and so are our. people..
There are several trees in Kingston & St Andrew. It's also in plastic bags for sale in some supermarkets, fresh fruits & vegetables shops and the market. This very afternoon (April 6, 2024) I told some folks I was going to do some reseach on the nutritional value of Tingkin Toe. Thank you for this video!
I have had a punch of this fruit and it was soooo good! I think the ingredients were dragon stout supligen condensed milk with vanilla cinnamon it was so good, but I don't care to eat that fruit just like that.
I think we only have 5 of those trees here on St.Thomas Virgin Islands 🇻🇮 We do pick them when they are solid brown and never had a problem. If the sound hollow when you tap them, they can eat when picked. Some Rastafarians make a drink from it also.
I love it. When I was growing up as I child I ate it. Probably one of the few who would do so. Went to Dominica and saw it there. I am aware of the nutritional value, saw it on PBS.
At our school in Clarendon there was a tree. The locust stinking toe tree It's all over Clarendon . We grow up eating it. So it's not new to the Clarendans
Well now that i know more about it cant really get it easily but i will try to find sir Helly soon would really like to make the drink i think i would love it thanks again mr Gayle we look forward for more of these videos

Blessings bro really love what you are doing. Keep show casing our unique jamaican fruits and plants. I want you to do a program on fruit called Miami, it is Brown skin with flesh like mango with a cricket ball size seed inside. Someone told it can be found in the St. Thomas, Portland end. Continue doing the good work
As a little girl I used to suck them and break the seed horizontally to be used as dice . We call it coubawe in St Lucia. The trees usually grow along the river banks.
There is another tree here called locos it round snd green with a space in the middlñme made from the missing stem. There i the big ones and the smañmll ones from two different trees. Who knoes the man from the bible could have been eating that locus too.
Of course you can pick it but i suppose it's a case of waiting for them to mature and thats when they drop off the tree by themselves. Locust is an insect too. I can't remember it being that stinky. To me It tastes like powdered milk.
I wish that all of us with some land space grow at least a tree. There are other fruits that are going extinct that we need to grow for the next generations.Seriously.
we eat stinking toe alot when we were kids growing up , not knowing how nutritious it was,we also rub the seed on stone to get it hot then use it to burn each other
This fruit is called STINKING TOE or LOCUS IN 🇹🇹 TRINIDAD I LOVE IT...I ATE THIS FRUIT AS A CHILD...BUT IT IS SO HARD TO CRACK THE POD AND THE TREE IS SO VERY HIGH. 😢

Makes a power punch with breadfruit stout milk, just blend and enjoy. Stinking toe wine calms the tired body.
