    Way to go, Harry, gotta go old school, mate. I have no idea about computers either, but it was fun trying to work out a track. You get the satisfaction that you did it yourself 👍

    I got motivated about two hours earlier and one of my friends called me up. I haven’t talked to him in a while so I didn’t get anything done, but I was glad to hear from him so now after I eat some supper, I have to get down there again to work on my layout.

    You are spot on about the computer track design programs. Waste of time and never accurate enough as Carrera pieces just don't follow their plans with gaps etc. My track I call the test track I used pieces like a puzzle and it takes time but sure the heck is more fun than the computer crud. I just changed my old layout by one piece and adding weird decor and soon the testing starts again! Keep up the good info my friend!🏁

    Hi Harry, just watching a new video. I love how you plan your track using the marker in the track layout on your box while you save me a lot of trouble. I’m gonna use the same method because I’m not computers either.

    Harry, i like your layout method, nice work, I saw a layout I like, no dimensions but I like the shape and wanted a R3 curve at one end, and laid it out with what I had, then order the pieces needed to complete,

      @Scale_Slotcars_Latvia Same here, we got a American sponsor and legally immigrated back in 1979, and I was working on real cars from age 7, by the time I was 15, I was rebuilding motors, transmissions, and more. I worked 1 full time job, 1 part time job and had my own computer on-site support business at the same time so I could only go to university part time, which took a long time and I didn't take any hand outs, I paid EVERYTHING myself, then I did 2 years at a Trade School and got state certified in architectural engineering and Computer aided design, so these illegal aliens getting free clothes, phones, $1,000 to $1,800/month for living expenses, and more just really burns 🔥 me up, especially since it's legal tax payers like me that the government is using to fund all this, its sickening so I understand your situation a little as well.
      Always great chatting with you Harry.

    I'm better than most when it comes to computers, architecture, how the parts are manufactured, etc, with several good friends at PCWorld and there have been times when they ask me about difficult things they might get stuck on AND EVEN I PREFER PENCIL ✏️ AND PAPER 📃 when it comes to stuff like this. Your mind is just a better computer, the issue is that too many "young-uns" can't "think" or maybe "mentally visualize" something without a computer drawing it up for them, so good for you Harry. On the other hand, don't let computers freak you out, the worst that can happen is that it break, and you can always get another one 😉 cheers Harry.

    • @SCALE_SLOTCARS
      @SCALE_SLOTCARS  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's exactly what freaks me out about computers...evertime I try to do anything, it asks, "Are you sure you want to do this ? It may affect other programs!" And of course I say no ...cancel ! I hate computers, yes I use my phone which is a computer blah blah .but it even has ruined cars for home mechanics. Tons of stupid sensors that are over sensitive...ridiculous 🤬 gimme back the old days mate 🤗🤣

      You need not say more Harry, I have a 1995 Audi A6 (got it off a 2 year lease with almost 30k miles for $19,900 total) and its still going, 200k+ miles & 28 YEARS I've had that car with only minimal maintenance. Then there's my 2000 Porsche 911 Carrera 4, also got it off a 2 year lease in Jan, 2003, with 22k Miles on it for $78,500, and I've taken it on long trips, grocery runs, snow, ice, sun, sand, dirt, mud, road & track, it handles it all and I'm almost at 200k miles with that as well, and aside from $700 or so for a new clutch, pressure plate, throw bearing and having the fly wheel machined (I got 124,xxx miles out of the original clutch), and one screw up on the dealership part, they didn't properly pressurize my cooling system during one of the big $1,3xx "major" maintenances and 3/4 of the way way home (48 miles) on the highway, I noticed the temp Guage going up and before I could get to the next exit, a valve blew a hole in itself, so that was a complete motor & transmission removal, the dealership covered all the parts, but I had to cover the nearly $5,500 in labor as I had almost 92,000 miles on it at that point, but aside from those 2 things, it too is a dream. Then I have two Toyotas (a 85' 4Runner and a 93' Land Cruisers), now I will say that the parts are pretty pricey (but I believe that's because they are old and in short supply, but I can do pretty much all the work myself, NOW I come to my point 👉
      The last one I have is a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover LR3 4.4 V8 and although I bought it from a friend about 4 years ago for the last $4,800 that he owed the bank on it, it's has been a NIGHTMARE at every turn, the CANBUS system is terrible, and it seems like 1 out of 10 times it forgets what computer is talking and which one should be listening, but I got so feed up with the air suspension last winter, I swapped it out with standard Land Rover approved coil over kit, which only took me 4 days, just working on it for 2 hours at a time between my 3 jobs, and that solved that. BUT his wife lost 1 of the keys, so it only had 1 key and of course the battery that's SOLDERED INTO THE KEYFOB was dead, so I began what turned into a 5 month headache to get a spare key, as the dealership is 980 Miles away and they wouldn't let me order the key, even with a picture of me holding the title, my license, insurance and my friend that I bought it from STANDING IN FRONT OF THE RANGE ROVER, right by the VIN# in the front Windshield. So I had to waste time going there for the privilege of letting them charge me $515.90 for a keyfob that they insured me would START the Range Rover & using the physical secret keyhole, unlock/lock it, which is all I wanted. 5-6 weeks later it arrived and it would NOT START the Range Rover!!! I spent 4 months at every shop, local dealership (of course none where Land Rover as that was a nearly 1,000 mile trip that I really didn't want to do again, and NO one could get it to start the Land Rover!!! So I finally called the dealership and they said "oh, you need to have the keyfob PROGRAMMED and that's $229.99", needless to say, I was pissed, my 1995 Audi got a spare key from Getmany in 10 days with a simple paper explaining how to program it with the 1 key in the ignition, done and working in 5-7 minutes, and it was $108 including shipping), then I wanted a 3rd key for my 911 and Porsche had me a new key right from Stuttgart, Germany 🇩🇪 in 5 days, and it was all pre-programmed by my 911's VIN and total cost was $385, so when Land Rover wanted $515.90 for a key they said would open & start the Range Rover, I thought it's a little pricey but at least it will be from the dealership and good to go, oh plus the $495-$500 I had to spend in fuel ⛽️ for the drive there to order the keyfob, so finally the Lead Technician Supervisor said he "feels bad that his parts guy didn't understand how the keyfobs work and gave me incorrect information, and if I make the drive there AGAIN, that he would program it personally at no charge since I would have to spend another $490-$500 in fuel to make the trip there and back, so 1 stupid keyfob ended up costing ke nearly $1,600!!! And that was with everything above board. So with that said, how is that these crooks in the UK 🇬🇧 and parts of the USA 🇺🇸 can use Bluetooth to remotely connect to your Range Rover just by following you, then capture your keyfobs frequency and with a few other computer tools simply pull up next to your Land Rover in a parking lot (and while your in the shops), they unlock, hop out of the follow car, jump into you now OPEN Land Rover, and using their phone with a Bluetooth connected app, start your Land Rover and drive off all in under 90 seconds!!!
      This only pushed me away from wanting to get a "newer" vehicle, although that same documentary said that Porsches are some of the most difficult vehicles to steal, so maybe my dream of one day moving up to a 911 Turbo S might be alright.
      Oh, as for the questions you get that ask if you want to "Agree/continue" with their terms and services for a program, or "cancel", which just kicks you out of the installation, just press "agree" as there's really no other option so you either want to use their software or you don't.
      And with OBD3 it's only going to get worse, so keep your older vehicle running as long as possible.
      Have a great weekend Harry,
      Best Regards,
      Milo
