TH-cam university isn’t a real thing and people think they can skip out on the education and just do it themselves when that’s not how it works.
I’m not saying that in a rude manner at all I promise , I’ve just seen so many people mess up their hair from trying to do it themselves then they end up having to pay twice as much to get it fixed . Finally someone said this in a succinct way. Not to mention, I cannot tell you the countless articles I’ve stumbled upon that are meant for professional hairstylists/colorists that give advice and ways to make ‘idiot proof’ services ‘seem’ more ‘high end’ with the single purpose of making the client BELIEVE that they can’t do it at home and they also tell you how to ‘justify’ [AKA:: fool, trick] charging higher prices. So for example: they say to never charge based on the amount of time it takes to ‘install’ hair extensions ‘because it’s a fairly simple and straightforward process’ and then it goes on to advise the reader in multiple workarounds for getting the most money out of the client. I respect the work and even more so respect stylists with actual talent but I hate the trend of hairstylists being snobby and condescending...even the broke ones /awful ones. Anywho.

Absolutely love this tutorial, and have been using this technique at home the last year and a half with amazing results! My hair is much healthier now that I'm only doing this 3x a year and it's the longest its been in a decade due to the lack of breakage from not bleaching it constantly! Thanks for this video! 😁❤
I have just followed this tutorial step by step product by product and WOW It has exceeded all my expectations . Thank you for sharing your tips.. AMAZING!!!!
Finally a local stylist. I hate finding someone I love and realizing I’d never even have the chance to get colored by them. But you.. you’re right here 👍🏽😁
After spending 1 year cutting my own hair, what i can do reasonably well by now, and after watching a ton of your Videos just made my order online of a bleaching powder, developer and shades eq to tone my balayage/ highlight attempt. Now all i have to do is wait for it to get delivered and give it a go!
I'm a hair stylist of 12yrs & am about to use this technique on myself! I was also trained by Redken & use their products as well; this is for sure the easiest technique to do a DIY baylayage! You go girl! Deffo a helpful video! Thanks fellow stylist,😋😎😍
Thank you for your tutorials! I have been binging for the past few days lol. After going to three hairdressers that can’t seem to cut my hair to the very basic cut I show pictures of, I’m going to do it myself. Thanks for all the tips. It has nothing to do with the amount of money,it has to do with someone listening to what I want!!
@@Cmm474 that’s so disappointing and I’m sorry you aren’t satisfied after spending so much money. I have been very satisfied with doing my own cuts and color! It might be worth it for you to do a virtual consult with Silvia and get some advice.
Thank you thank you thank you for making this!!!!!!! I have never gotten my hair to lift to where I needed it to be or get the tone I wanted, but now it’s perfect!!!!!! My banding is gone and so is a majority of the warmth I had. I’m so happy! Thank you!!
Omg I just attempted this for my own hair because I'm just done going to the salon. And this was sooooo hard 😆 BUT I was able to manage. And it came out pretty decent for the first time ever doing touch up or highlights 😬😳
🎉❤❤I did this to my hair, and the only thing I used was blonde me bleach instead. No smell, some bleeding bud the toner process she mentions, makes a big difference. Finally had time for me! Thanks girl. Once I do this more and more, the better the outcome! Thank you
This video came just in time. I'm putting in my hi lights today. I just noticed something I must have missed in passed videos. Teasing the root before bleach application... hmmm... Gloss at the root... I'm thinking that's going to help with hot roots, that struggle is real for me which, is why I avoid going above a level seven lately. Love it...
I tried this! Didn't use proper foil and stripped some kitchen which was difficult to work with so definitely invest in salon foil. I also used the Moroccan sand root tap and then blended a little of that with the mist EQ for my overall toner. I am no expert and the bleaching was far from perfect - although colour lifted fine, the toners really make the look and fix and unwanted orange as well as blending the bleach lifted parts. Would highly recommend if you have lockdown hair woes! Thanks so much Silvia! I love my new hair and can't believe I managed to sort my blonde out as I'm a natural brunette! X

You are simply the best on youtube, sharing all this knowledge. Thanks to your tutorials I have been able to maintain my hair at home and usually asked where I get my hair done and getting compliments. Thank you 💖💖
Looks so easy to do it by yourself, but I know that it's hard... Want to take a risk and to do a touch up on my roots by myself. Thanks for sharing with us. You help us to find a right and easy way to do.🥰♥️💐
1. You are GORGEOUS 2. Love your videos; straight to the point & not annoying like most tutorials lol 3. I’m a 5 year licensed cosmetologist & even this is hard for me! Don’t want to be annoying but my hair is SO THICK & LONG this shit takes me foreverrrrr wish I lived closer to you! Thanks for the helpful video xxxx
Oh my gosh. Watching you do the back of your hair just by the 'feel' of painting it...showed what a MASTER you are. I need to come to San Fran . to see you.:)
It’s now May 15th, 2020. I have been trying so SO hard to keep my unlicensed/uninformed hands off of my hair but I have an incredible lack of self discipline, my balayage has completely grown out and Im seeing way too much of my natural hair color for the first time in like.. i dunno .. how old would you be in 5th grade? Well, take whatever that age is and minus it from 30. Anyway, I can’t take it anymore and I’m just gonna go for it. I’m so happy to have this video as a guide and a great source of information. Wish me luck!
love all the videos ,makes it seem so easy but the public does not have access to redken shades eq hair colors, the only hair supply there is ,is SALLY which doesnt carry them
Your videos have helped me so much. I am unable to go to a hairdresser to have my hair coloured as sitting at the shampoo bowls can be quite damaging to my neck (I have EDS, my joints dislocate and partially dislocate v easily). But I love being creative with hair colour and thanks to people like yourself, Ive learnt how to do it myself. Been doing it for about past 30 years, luckily have never ruined my hair doing it myself. Although sometimes my colour choices have been questionable! 😂 Thankyou for teaching us, and being respectful about it! I'd love to be able to have a professional do my hair, while I sip tea and gossip with the hairdresser! But unfortunatly its not something I can do. Your hair always looks great. 😃 🌹🌹🌹 Edit: dodgey spelling! 😂
After spending $300+ for multiple botched highlights/balayages, this video is a god-send. I have been doing my own platinum blonde for years but want to transition to something more dimensional.
When i bleached my hair for the first time i did a great job.I was not scared i had no clue how it will came out.I just did it. But than when i saw some bleach fails on youtube.I thought i could fail aswell like them. And now here I m failing every time.Bcoz im scared.I think we should never be scared. Its hair.It will grow out or we can cut it off.
@@mywavesofgrain bcoz all the time i think what if my hair breakes off, what if i let it to much the process, what if i need to cut it teally short. And all the unnesesary thoughts. Then i let it not enough sit on my hair or it comes patchy out. So better if i didnt watch all the videos bcoz i would be more comfident now and maube i would react in the right time.
Can't wait to watch this! I used your babylights tutorial and mixed it with what I've learned through other stylists on TH-cam and Instagram videos (and filmed a video that I still haven't posted) and it went really well! Maybe I'll try this next! :)
I really want to learn how to do this myself!! Ive spent $300 this year getting my hair done twice..both times ive showed the hairdresser exactly what I want and my hair somehow never looks like the pics😑. This time specifically said i want my hair brighter/blonder and its actually darker...
It's not very hard to do, just make sure you do a strand test to see how your hair will lift using whichever products you choose :) and if you're doing the whole head and you're slower, do one half, process, wash etc and then do the other one. Do not rush or over process
I'm still trying to finish the very first bottle of Olaplex (got it cause your recommended it and what a life saver for the daring and DIY girl, like myself). The Redken kit is easier to use. I only used it once (because I had to try it). Can't wait to finish it so I can see how the Redken bonder works over time.
I just want to thank you for all your help, you look gorgeous being pregnant as well. you an Adam remind me of me and my bf. you two are funny, you can tell you guys have been together in pandemic. lol I will try me best to follow this video and I will let you know how my hair turns out. just waiting for the rest of my product to get here.
To #ElleBangs, this video is amazing!!! I ordered all of these products a couple of months ago and have been scared to try this... but, I literally just got done doing this and my hair turned out so perfect! It’s not as light as yours, but that is because I wanted to keep it a bit more natural. I would say if someone has never done anything with their hair, go watch pros do it first in person. I used to bleach all of my hair for years but was not brave enough to try hightlights because it takes skill. But, ElleBangs, you are an awesome teacher and again, thank you so much!!! I love my hair! 💋
I honestly am scared to go to the hair stylist. I’ve had so many horrendous things done to my hair by professional stylists at both highly recommended salons and cheap places that I’m just scared of another bad haircut or color. I cut my own hair now and I’m thinking about doing color myself now too. I don’t want to mess it up but I don’t know if it’ll be better or worse than what they’d do at a salon
Have watched you for a long time, I'm a stylist and also do my own hair. Thank you for sharing, but the hardest thing for me is teasing the hair and getting the teasing out.
If you've previously had highlights which have grown out and therefore don't have much blonde at the front as you already had, would you recommend sectioning a centre section in the middle of your head (as you would if you had a half head of highlights) and doing a few foils at the front rather than starting from the sides and just baby lights on top?
WOW! this is amazing! I love your hair. You made it look so easy and flawless! Id never attempt this at home but thank you for showing us how to do this!!
Wow! You are really good! I have watched so many tutorials on easier ways to do my own hair. By far, your's was so much more helpful. I've always done my own hair ( I did go to cosmetology school) and I'm a fellow Blondie. Thank you for simplifying this difficult task.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO, I really would like to try this but now I have two questions 1st. Are those products available to non licensed? And what to do to keep the results from becoming brassy orange tones?
They are available at Amazon no license needed. I really love how she works with the products. I'm a cosmetologist but my hair is waist long and do the bleach by sections front, sides and back, you need to just get the hang of your own hair, as everyone's hair is different to process. Mine is very delicate with bleach and if I would do it all in one sitting it would be a big mess(will burn) I do, do the toner all at once. Hope this helps you😘
@@JamiesLife I don't mean to sound harsh...I would NOT recommend buying professional products from Walmart. I would only buy, if you are not a licensed cosmetologist, from a salon. You are not guaranteed a fresh product from Walmart or any store other than a salon. Im just saying and again not trying to sound harsh. They can be expired products.
I love your videos. The only question I have is that I have used shades eq for years. I have fine hair and it does not stick to my roots/regrowth/healthy hair at all. I have to put a toner perm on them to soften the line. Unfortunately.
why is that edge of foil folded inward? right now I highlight using grocery store aluminum foil roll. I tear same size sheets. I would have to fold them but I don't understand the direction and purpose. sometimes I get leakage of the highlight solution squish out somehow and touch a group of hairs that are those in between row not being high lighted and after washing and drying I'll see a blond row of spots kinda like what you showed in minute 5:22. I'm trying to not highlight so close to the edge to avoid that but I also want to highlight as close to root as possible.
How do you maintain blonde high lights. Be all my life I would to dye my hair light brown and I would pull my hair through the cap, put the bleach on the hair on cap. Leave it in an hour then rinsed it. I always used revlon color silk in light brown and purchased the revlon high lighting kit. But every 3to 4 month I would repeat the process. Now at 58, I have gotten really exhausted to continue doing it. So I did it a year ago all over my hair the high lights the following month the grays were out. So I went to a salon. The lady just did my top of my hair by she said I had done my high lights like a professional. I worked at Sally Beauty Supplies for almost 8 years. And I never used their products by I was use to using what I always used. I am still doing my high lights. I love to do it. Only that I am getting older. It’s harder. Enjoyed your video. Take care.❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
????? Where do you suggest we (non-professionals) buy the Redken products you have listed above???? SalonCentric is a professionals-only store. Looking online, there is only eBay (and that's not guaranteed) and some at Walmart, but they are "out of stock." Where do we buy the Redken products, or what is a good alternative hair color brand (please provide shade-codes info) that is available to be purchased by non-professionals at a local beauty store? Much appreciated!
Hola me encanta tu trabajo. Una pregunta si no podemos usar los mismos productos que tú utilizás cual me podrías recomendar. Soy estudiante de peluquería. Xfa necesito tu consejo. Una saludo Didi
Wow your hair looks beautiful. I went to the wrong salon i guess and got my hair ruined and now I feel like I need to shave my head. Its so brittle and broken off and terribly frizzy looking. Not sure what I could do to save it. How could I get you to do my hair??
You make it look so easy, Sylvia. However, I would never try this myself. I'm afraid that I would screw it up! Lol. How do you do the back?? That would be my problem. Lol. That's why I have had my highlights done by a professional. They know what they are doing. I don't. Lol. ❤
Great instructional video! I have a question about the root process. Did you have 2 mixing bowls for two different products? One for the 07N and 09NA ? mixed together with processing solution? Thanks!
I cant imagine using all these products. The only time I ever colored my own hair hair I used 3% hydrogen peroxide and my hair looked good and stayed soft
Gorgeous! And you make it look so easy lol! Quick question...Can you apply permanent color in the shades you mentioned, like I usually use 10A and 9N for all over color, but I really love the way yours look with just the toner. I tone my hair after bleaching and coloring, but I just wanted to know if it is safe to use color after highlighting, or do I need to just be toning? Ahh, being a blonde is so frustrating some times, but it's totally worth it in the end! Thx for sharing! Your hair is my dream color, cut, and style! xoxoJJ
My daughter and I tried to do this on a couple of sample pieces of her hair (we cut her hair so we could try it first). We followed your instruction from the video but the pieces of hair have a greenish tone to them after we toned the hair. Any suggestions? Should we use a different toner? Should we do something to correct the green after toning? Since we haven’t done this on her actual hair, we can try something else on the cut pieces if you can help us. THANKS! We love your videos!!
I usually never comment but I have to for this one. A week ago I went to the salon and they completely botched my balayage… I went in again (because I complained) for a complimentary re-do and it still looked so bad! So much banding and ORANGE at the roots, yuck! I came across this video and bought everything you mentioned. Honestly, after the bleaching i was a bit horrified… still some orange bits.. but I persisted with the Shades EQ and it came out SO well in the end I’m so happy with it. You are amazing. Thank you for saving my hair and saving me ££!! 🤍🤍
How would one get the same starting root color you have? If you were to create this color to cover grays, say, a day before going into lightening as you do I this video? I’m assuming Redkin would have those colors (blend of colors)? Would be a huge help! Thanks!
ellebangs thank u so much , I love beauty and hair mostly is my passion to learn more and be successful in this field , thank u for helping a lot of ppl ❤️❤️❤️
ellebangs I hope so I graduated in end of June and I got my license, I worked in a saloon for a month but the onwer said it was a low season and she couldn’t do it anymore , my question is how did u get started ? and what I can do so I can get hired in a saloon , like I looked for an assistant job , but nothing yet ? Like I word in a saloon as assistant before for 3 years but not the state , so do u have any advice for me how I could get started in the field
Taz Star get hired at a salon that continually offers continuing ed. I worked for Toni and Guy straight out of school. Mandatory classes. 1 year for cutting. 2 for color.
This is reaaaally beautiful color. And the video is very helpful. But i have a question I can’t find the 30vol developer. What if i use 20 vol what will be the difference? And I can’t find the 010N gloss
Cool video! Will maybe try out in the future! Just got home from a so called stylist and this is the color i asked him to do... He just put radom strippes in my hair and told me at the end that what i asked for is too pricey and that he wanted to keep my hair healthy so he just did what he wanted... I could have put nasty strippes myself at home and save my money in the process because he charged a lot of money for his "masterpiece".This is for the people who tell you to go to the salon. I went and paid a lot of money to look like a clown :)))) Not to mention this salon should be the best in my town... #feelingsad
Ive only met a couple of hairdressers that actually listened and involved me throughout, and it turned out just how i wanted. They closed down :(. Over the years it must have added up to thousands of wasted $ to feel uncomfortable and get results that i didnt want. I do my own now! No idea what im doing but it ends up closer to what i actually want than these experts. These videos are a real help, along with a toner!
Looks beautiful! Quick question, Does all the teasing break the hair? I was uncomfortable with my stylist who teased each piece so much! And honest,y the color was not bright enough and I barely noticed a difference in color change

I have just followed this tutorial step by step product by product and WOW It has exceeded all my expectations . Thank you for sharing your tips.. AMAZING!!!!
I am no way at all a professional. Your tutorials make doing my own hair so easy. Ive been using your tutorials for a while now. Thank you so much❤
I’ve had her vids locked and loaded for a bit, I’m gonna go for it… today’s the day! #WishMeLuck 🍀 Lol
Sorry where did you find shades eq. I am not a licensed pro and would like to try this on my hair
This is saving me so much money, and now I can control how I want it. Thank you!!🥺
I'm a hair stylist of 12yrs & am about to use this technique on myself! I was also trained by Redken & use their products as well; this is for sure the easiest technique to do a DIY baylayage! You go girl! Deffo a helpful video! Thanks fellow stylist,😋😎😍
How did it go?
Can you make a video on how you do the rest of your hair like the lower sides and lower back?
Use a 2 big mirrors ❤️ saved my life I swear to god
Sip
@Political Queen ok
Ok
Thank you for your tutorials! I have been binging for the past few days lol. After going to three hairdressers that can’t seem to cut my hair to the very basic cut I show pictures of, I’m going to do it myself. Thanks for all the tips. It has nothing to do with the amount of money,it has to do with someone listening to what I want!!
Did you get it how you like? I just got mine done but not happy. Spent 400$ too so I’m going to diy the top section at least :(
@@Cmm474 that’s so disappointing and I’m sorry you aren’t satisfied after spending so much money. I have been very satisfied with doing my own cuts and color! It might be worth it for you to do a virtual consult with Silvia and get some advice.
Girl you make it look easy but it’s not. You’re just talented. Thank you for trying to help us sad little balayage fiends 😔
Where did you find the toners?
Love it...
I just did a platinum card technique on my own head, this video was so helpful for future applications!
Seriously!!! 😱 I was up at 4 am looking up your videos on how to balayage at home! lol
I’m soooo glad you filmed this video. Now I know I CAN’T do this at home. Lol 🙏🏼

ellebangs Don’t videos like this help ruin the industry even further for stylists? Enabling kitchen beauticians much?
No.
J RLOC Yes bitch.
DeathtotheAshes okay and not every one trusts going to a trained beautician. that’s why you can try at home

Lmfao!!! Same, I have the worst upper body strength
Exactly!!
You help us to find a right and easy way to do.🥰♥️💐
Gayane Khachaturyan how did it turn out
@@mylifeassoph43 Amazing! But it was a little difficult))
I have been trying so SO hard to keep my unlicensed/uninformed hands off of my hair but I have an incredible lack of self discipline, my balayage has completely grown out and Im seeing way too much of my
natural hair color for the first time in like.. i dunno .. how old would you be in 5th grade? Well, take whatever that age is and minus it from 30.
Anyway, I can’t take it anymore and I’m just gonna go for it. I’m so happy to have this video as a guide and a great source of information. Wish me luck!
love all the videos ,makes it seem so easy but the public does not have access to redken shades eq hair colors, the only hair supply there is ,is SALLY which doesnt carry them
You are amazing! How you can do the back of your head is beyond me! Absolutely lovely!!
Thankyou for teaching us, and being respectful about it! I'd love to be able to have a professional do my hair, while I sip tea and gossip with the hairdresser! But unfortunatly its not something I can do.
Your hair always looks great. 😃 🌹🌹🌹
Edit: dodgey spelling! 😂
Your hair looks stunning here.
Dark natural root
Bright throughout, not too ashy. Mostly bright and glossy
You're the best! 🥰 Thanks to your tutorials my hair is blonde & healthy & looking like it was done by a pro! 😉
Watching this now to retouch my hair. Here’s to quarantine highlights lol
Its hair.It will grow out or we can cut it off.
tolya A don’t be scared 😊
Why failing?
@@mywavesofgrain bcoz all the time i think what if my hair breakes off, what if i let it to much the process, what if i need to cut it teally short. And all the unnesesary thoughts. Then i let it not enough sit on my hair or it comes patchy out. So better if i didnt watch all the videos bcoz i would be more comfident now and maube i would react in the right time.
That's what I want a long time. It is absolutelly perfect. I try it tomorrow. Thank You! ♥️
Love your videos Sylvia! and congratulations on your new baby girl!
I love your videos. You are saving my life with these.
Where did you buy the redkin products from?
Just amazing! You make it look so easy doing it on yourself 🤣
THIS IS THE VIDEO THAT WE ALL WERE LOKING FOR! THANKKK YOUU SO MUCH! ♥️
Was waiting for this video for forever☺️ thank you for posting this!!!
This would take me forever to finish but the results are well worth it 🤩
Tried this on my mom and it turned out perfect! Thank you!
Do you have the list of the products she used?
@@caroltyler2001 it’s in the description of the video. Check with your local salon too :)
I'd like to see Brad Mondo react to this video!
Morgan Nichols brad mondo isn’t that great
Some of the diagonal partings at her part line make me very very nervous. Legit 🐅 🐯
Why? She's a cosmetologist..
Goodness this is a treasure trove of a video for diy. Going to try this!! Thank you so much
Beautiful work! So original from you to do your own hair, and the blonde suits you so perfectly! 🤩👌🔥
Yay! Blonde specialist...??? .love it!💯
😂 This is too good! I was watching your old ones and about to do it.
IKR! I always rewatch her videos before I do my hair! Like players watching game tapes before the big game lol! Never hurts to refresh!
They aren’t. Only licensed professionals can buy them.
Hope this helps you😘
@@mariaelenacano8974 thanks I will look to buy them
@@JamiesLife I don't mean to sound harsh...I would NOT recommend buying professional products from Walmart. I would only buy, if you are not a licensed cosmetologist, from a salon. You are not guaranteed a fresh product from Walmart or any store other than a salon. Im just saying and again not trying to sound harsh. They can be expired products.
I’d recommend doing the front last if you don’t work fast, they’re the most fragile.
I love your videos. The only question I have is that I have used shades eq for years. I have fine hair and it does not stick to my roots/regrowth/healthy hair at all. I have to put a toner perm on them to soften the line. Unfortunately.
This is awesome . Can you tell me what did you use ? I do t understand what toner number you used . Thanks
5:12
How to apply the tap.. it looks like you made to formulas here.. do you alternate between the two? Or do you ultimately mix them both together?
why is that edge of foil folded inward? right now I highlight using grocery store aluminum foil roll.
Take care.❤️❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Wow, thanks for posting professional tips. Very informative.
????? Where do you suggest we (non-professionals) buy the Redken products you have listed above????
SalonCentric is a professionals-only store. Looking online, there is only eBay (and that's not guaranteed) and some at Walmart, but they are "out of stock."
Where do we buy the Redken products, or what is a good alternative hair color brand (please provide shade-codes info) that is available to be purchased by non-professionals at a local beauty store?
Much appreciated!
Thank YOU .
Omg someone has Finely showed us and did it slow so we can learn also
Sucks Australia doesn't have the Redken toner
Wow looks super awesome, I bet it must be hard to do your own hair.
Love her, I’ve been watching for years. Also I want that shirt lol!
At second step I couldn’t see if you mixed processing solution with 07 and 09 or did you use separately couldn’t catch it 😢 help plzzzz
I love your hair, Elle!! It's beautiful!! ❤
This would take me forever to finish although the results are well worth it 🤩
Hi, thoughts on highlighting COMBS. Seem like it would make it easier especially for back of head. Thoughts?
This is the best I’ve seen you luck I wish I can get my hair like that❤️
Can you comment a link to the products - hair dyes please? X
Hola me encanta tu trabajo. Una pregunta si no podemos usar los mismos productos que tú utilizás cual me podrías recomendar.
Soy estudiante de peluquería.
Xfa necesito tu consejo. Una saludo Didi
Awesomeness! Also, I think that's pretty hardcore you did this without gloves! ;-)
Wow your hair looks beautiful. I went to the wrong salon i guess and got my hair ruined and now I feel like I need to shave my head. Its so brittle and broken off and terribly frizzy looking. Not sure what I could do to save it. How could I get you to do my hair??
Learned it all from you girl! Thank you for these!!!
Thank you for all your wonderful tips and tutorials I've learnt so much ❤
You make it look so easy, Sylvia.
No se inglés alguien me puede ayudar a saber que tener se pone en el cabello que decoloro ayuda porfavor
I wish I had the patience to do my hair the way you do, looks great
How would one get the same starting root color you have? If you were to create this color to cover grays, say, a day before going into lightening as you do I this video? I’m assuming Redkin would have those colors (blend of colors)? Would be a huge help! Thanks!
I love it thanks for sharing
I just finished and get my licensed in the State of FL so that help a lot thank u so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love all ur videos

Your hair and color is sooo pretty
I love the way you do everything 💖💖💖💖💖💖
