Vastly underrated. Finished this a few weeks ago. My first Halo game since Halo 2. When this came out I didn’t have a chance to play it. I did immediately think it looked amazing. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that, it’s still pretty damn good. I very briefly played reach at a friends, and was bored, fighting the covenant again? What’s funny is this came out in my early 20’s. I only had internet on my phone, and wasn’t following any gaming news. I thought to myself, “what if a different developer got ahold of Halo and brought in different enemies?” That’s exactly what happened. The Forerunners were formidable opponents in the beginning, and were getting under my skin on the first couple of missions. On the last missions they didn’t stand a chance against me on heroic. They look pretty sinister as well. I love the beefed up weapons, the sprint button, and the power ups, especially the shield. The last two made recharging your shields easier, something I always had a gripe with. Unfortunately I didn’t care much for the story, and I think the finale with the Diadect felt a little too Call Of Duty esque. The lack of ammo also prevented me from using my favorite weapons.I was relying on the forerunner weapons, which were cool, but not good as the UNSC weapons.
I thought it was a rather good _Halo_ game. The story, the amount of character development added to both Chief and Cortana, and the new artwork was great. The only thing that I felt was very lacking was the soundtrack. It will never be as good as what the original trilogy offered in terms of its music.
Honestly, thee weapons sound so much better in this game than in previous games. They felt more powerful when you fired them, and that did wonders for the gunplay. This is the first Halo game where I really enjoy the combat as a direct result. Basically, I wound up enjoying the gameplay here more than any previous Halo game. I, also, like the Chief and Cortana part of this games It felt like Chief not only had a proper personality but grew and changed over the course of the game. He had a real arc. I liked that.
This was my first halo, given that iy really impressed me. I went on next to try halo 3, odst, reach and finally CE. Honestly from all the praise for the other halos i didnt enjoy them as much as 4 (i guess it became my nostalgic favorite). 4 had a really epic fantasy-like music in some parts and preferred that over the war movie kind of music that i felt was in some of the other halos. Also i love playing the flood mode in multiplayer.
If I had a dollar for every time you complain about the flood, I would be able to fill my car with a full tank of gas. Seriously you complained way to much about the flood in these Halo videos. Other than that you have spot on reviews and I enjoy your reviews of other video games. I thought Halo 4 was okay and every year I replay Halo I usually stop at Halo 3. Halo 5 was a complete joke and waste of time.
Halo 4 is the first in the series I played and I personally think it's the best. It's a grind, but I've beat it on legendary(solo with cowbell and catch enabled) several times. Reach is my second favorite.
@@Padlock_Steve just because you dont want it doesn't mean it should not exist lmao. If they never brought the chief back everyone would be complaining
I loved this game, great campaign that for me, was memorable. It deserves its place in the Halo canon, though the story could have been better. It integrated too many details from external sources.
I think the reviewer's Halo burnout showed in this video review. Halo 4 was my first Halo game.....my first Xbox was the 360 slim(old school Nintendo/PC guy here...). I got Halo 4 and Forza 4 the day I picked it up. Both awesome games. As far as single player goes, I think Halo 4 is the best of all the Halo games I've played.....and I've played them all except for ODST. The story had weight to it as you are trying to save Cortana.....it had the typical save the world story as well, but trying to save your girl invested me more emotionally than any of the other Halo games did.....and for the record...I hate the flood too. My second favorite Halo game is Reach.....looking forward to it on PC in next few days(today is 11/30/19).
This was the first Halo campaign I never beat. I just really hated fighting the Promethians. I did however love the multiplayer more than any other Halo. Yeah blasphemy I know. But I was good at it lol. I liked the maps and weapons too.
Marshall Studios no he means the gameplay was boring and uninteresting and had a forerunner story arc that you had to read books to understand (And yes I do read the books but not everyone does so yeah).
Marshall Studios There is no good Halo after Reach and nor will there ever be, if you like 343 Halo games then that is your personal taste but objectively and factually any Halo after Reach as been absolute shit and does not in any way qualify as Halo.
@@bennettfender1546 Halo 4 does not require you to read the books to understand the plot. I understood it entirely before I ever even touched a single book in the series.
@@jedi196 - Objectively speaking, Halo 4 was a far better game than Reach. The story was better, the characters, and there was ACTUAL character development. The only thing Reach beats Halo 4 in is soundtrack. Don't mix your personal tastes up with objective facts.

One thing you forgot to mention is how Master Chief is more vocal during gameplay than in other games and he'll banter with other characters.

The soundtrack is good especially 117 arrival and belly of the beast
I liked the story for this game but the gameplay didn't feel very halo to me.
your reviews are top notch, you always hit the nail on the head, and i wish you had more views and subs

That is a rare opinion.
Halo 4 is fucking awesome. ODST, REach and 4 are the three Halo games where I like every level
I like it, way more than 5
And I still think that this game needed a proper fight between Chief and Didact.
Great work as always man

Halo 4 is good but to say that it is better than Halo CE - Halo Reach is ridiculous
Same halo 4 is one of my favorite games

The ending is really sad tho :(
I'd forgotten that I'd played this through to the end on the 360... obviously not a memorable game
Maybe for you but I really liked it

Best reviewer on TH-cam, bar none..
I really feel that the series should of ended here.
@@Padlock_Steve naw 4

Should have ended at Reach. The story was concluded by that point. I mean we could get a few spin-offs before Reach. But after Halo 3 that’s it.
2:21 I need clarification. How is that a Plot Hole?

Best review of this game, hard to find a good review of this because of all the controversy
The mantis is badass. I wish Halo would be based around these.
You can't call Halo Halo if it ain't got any halos in it.
I vote that 343 call future title "Master Chief and Pals"
New Batllerifle design bad mk?
Well done!
Jesus this game is shiny
Ouch, though. The language...

Forced story, shitty tron artstyle and annoying enemies and levels. 343 killed the Halo series, I'll stick to Halo 1 - Reach.
Halo CE - Halo Reach are difinitely the benchmark but I did enjoy part 4. It wasn't bad by any means imo. Halo 5 was a trainwreck.
halo 4 is not the best neither is halo 5. but halo 4 is still a solid game. Halo 4 is a 8.
It's a 2012 videogame and looks better than BO4
Lol also on a 360 originally
This was the first Halo campaign I never beat. I just really hated fighting the Promethians.
I did however love the multiplayer more than any other Halo. Yeah blasphemy I know. But I was good at it lol. I liked the maps and weapons too.
I can’t stand Halo 4. It’s a chore to play and not fun. I never wanna play it again.
This was a shitty game, but a shitty game with heart. As opposed to the soulless trash heap that was Halo 5.
lol troll fail this game was great.
Tsuko Para I wouldn't say soul I'd say an actual attempt was made with a little passion. Bungie was the soul of Halo.
The worst halo right along side halo 5
Are you high this is the best Halo game to date.
@Smugglerscomedy Halo 4 is objectively good. Much better than Reach.
@@GSFuckUCun..t that is a rare opinion
