Had the opportunity to run a dozer boat for almost 5 years and it was an absolute blast. Rain or shine Summer or winter i was bobbin around. Loved it. If you ever get a chance to run one do it.
I got a dumb question that is probably answered by "the amount of debris makes them unviable" but why not use jet propulsion with these sorts of boats?
Hey Justin! Not a dumb question at all! I am sure there are a few opinions around this as there are some pretty well known workboats that use jets just fine but there is a simple way to think about how propeller size and speed relates to how hard a boat can push or pull. If you think of a tractor vs a racecar it is very similar. Tractors have huge wheels that turn slowly, they produce lots of grip but cannot go very fast. Often tractors do not need much HP from their engines, yet they can pull amazing loads and do tons of work! Racecars on the other hand, have relatively small wheels that spin very fast, they have huge amounts of horsepower but would not be very good for pushing or pulling heavy things at lower speeds. A dozer boat propeller is very large compared to most boats this size (our 16' dozer has a 32" propeller), this makes our dozers more like a tractor than a racecar. Jets might work in some situations but are better suited to high horsepower and higher speed boats that do not need the "traction" for pushing or pulling. Hopefully that answers your question!
@@drop_marine Yes it does, I know when it comes to most tug boats that they get better pulling power the deeper the hull sinks into the water, so i figure thats how your dozer boats work, thanks for taking the time to answer my question

That would be an interesting job , lets see , you must love roller coasters , and marry go-rounds , and fast elevators ! Wow I love all three are you guys on the west coast of Canada by any chance ?
Hi Joel, blueprints are not available for this boat but there are several others who have made RC models based on similar vessels. Good luck with your build!

😀lol I thought this was a meme.... it reminds me of the 3d print tug boat that a lot of people first print. took me a min to realize this was a legit thing.
Thumbs up on 25 years later, companies/people still putting M&B colour patterns on things. I should track down an old 90's f250 and do the same for a mill service/welding truck.
Why does every company insist on having the most advanced technology for their builds? I doubt they would actually need to use half the equipment there to make a decent boat
When I buy a lake and need a Dozer to move my logs, I'm definitely buying Drop Marine. 🙂

Sounds like fun. Why did you stop doing it ?

I challenge Drop to get their boat up on plain.
All they got to do is put it on a truck and ship it to Saskatchewan.
A few minutes in I knew I was looking at common sense Canadian engineering and design.
canadians lack common sense so how exactly does that work
We appreciate your feedback!

Awesome video! Looks like an amazing team to learn from and work with.
That looks like a Welsh coracle for the21st century........Superb
It's skookum, what do I need to know more... :-D Damn, I watched too many AvE videos to know all these words.
Haha Skookum it is! We are also big fans of AvE over here too!
oh ya she's skookum bud
That's cool. The US NAVY have one of these.
Boomin beaver
This is so well produced, very slick cuts
Great vid ! nice to see full size state of the art , we build radio control models ! Wales UK.
That's great! We'd love to see some of your models!

Well done infomercial.
As far as looking forward to next 50 years, the resource will be clearcut before that.

Awesome dozer. Great work.
Thank you!
I don't need one but I want one!
WTF, I did not knew such boats exist :D
Where can I get blueprints for this boat ? I want to build a RC boat like this one.

Dude I want one just for fun.
What engines do they have?
This video doesn't really say anything....
I’d like to try one of these out. What does it cost to get one??
How about a grapple on front, sides and rear. 😊😊
Is there some reason why they are not called boom boats anymore ?
Much Success !
Thank you! We have enjoyed your channel as well!
I don't have a lake or logs...but damn I'm up for owning one of these. 😂
Gotta build a giant bath tub.

These boats have a full steel hull
The navy should buy this
they had one though. "boomin beaver"
Is this a beaver class tug boat?!

This thing is awesome!
They should put lo lift grapple on it
I want one ❤

The TubTug!
Better hp and efficiency and the navy is using them now
They're impressively capable boats! We'd love to supply for the Navy.
