Let be real... The female voices “I want you, want you” in Exo - Obsession and female voices “kill me softly” in Taemin - Idea are make us feel some type of ways 😳
@@si_multifandom_ch_5099 you are not alone i thought all this time that this is a female voice in obsession with a lot of autotune on it. Indeed a clown🙂
2 videos back to back! Wow! BoA did additional vocals for it. the “killing me softly” is her. Also, only Taemin can pull off a magenta velvet jacket. 😍 The song was produced by Adrian McKinnon and Tay Jasper who are SM regulars for NCT, EXO, SHINee, Red Velvet and more. So no, I suppose it’s not produced by people behind HWA. 😅
The entire album is a cohesive story that you need to put together from the clues Taemin has given us in interviews and his IG Lives. Basically, this and the "Criminal" MVs depict what is happening in Taemin's head. Taemin was never in Hell in "Criminal". According to Taemin the "hell" you think you see in the MV is Taemin in the deepest, darkest depths of his present ego -- the "victim" of Stockholm syndrom with his present ego being the "Criminal". (I guess you could call it his own personal "hell" rather than biblical hell.) Taemin said that this portion of his album, Act 2, was based upon Plato's Theory of Forms. While I understand the concept of this philosophical theory, my 18 YO daughter expresses it in writing better than I could, so here is how she explained it: "I think Taemin is chasing after the idea of "Taemin." Just like Plato's world of forms, there is an intrinsic idea of the "identity" of "Taemin." Taemin is chasing after this identity to reach higher levels of "Taemin-ness." Just as we have an idea of a chair, (a throne is considered a type of chair because it has "chairness"), so Taemin has the idea of "Taemin-ness." As Taemin tries to go further in his discovery he realizes that it is impossible to reach true "Taemin-ness" because it's perfect, and perfection is impossible for the flawed human to reach. Only a higher power made the concept of a "chair" or the concept of "Taemin" and only perfection is able to realize them." In other words, Taemin, through this new album, has stepped up a level into a newer and better "Ego" by abandoning and leaving his former "Ego" behind--the Ego who thought he was the messiah or could bring forth the messiah (perfect Taemin) through sheer will alone. We see the struggle between his dark former self trying to hang on and the newly emerging, brighter Ego breaking free into the light through the lyrics, images (light and dark), and dancing. "The shadow is holding the night and getting darker"…..but…."Inside my heart under, under, under, beautiful silhouettes….sweet voices….you are my messiah" leading him into the light and a new level of Ego and the idea of a new Messiah; a higher power outside of himself. The Hebrew word "Mashiach"(Messiah) means "one anointed with oil". In the New Testament, Jesus is the Messiah, the one anointed with oil and perfect a higher power, as illustrated in Plato's forms. As a Catholic, this fits in perfectly with Taemin's philosophical worldview. He's searching for the Taemin that God meant him to be -- Perfect Taemin. However, his old Ego thinks he can do this on his own. That is his struggle -- pride and arrogance, or let go and let God lead. Intuitively he knows that perfection is "beyond the limit of realization" and he grasps for "your shadow I finally found" and "throw myself into the ideal," he understands that "all the colored emotions inside become the unlimited range." Despite knowing and feeling there is perfection within himself, he can't access it alone and this inability to bring it forth through force keeps driving him but "The brightest presence in my world, the absolute value, you, my idea, you are killing me." Why? Because he can never reach the perfect fulfillment of Taemin. "The dangerous dream that swallowed me is proven by You." This "idea" that he can be perfect through his own effort and merit has been "killing him softly." "On the night I cut you out from my heart (the old Ego thinking he can become perfection on his own) finally I open my eyes." At the end of the video he's finally shaken free of the old and put on the new. This is all just speculation on my part garnered from what Taemin has said and being Christian myself, although not of the Catholic denomination. I actually don't subscribe to any particular denomination as they force limits and man-made doctrines that Christ never intended from my point of view. Another song on this album is our long-awaited release of the complete "Heaven". Taemin sang a portion of this song at his concert, and we SHAWOLs/Taemints have been begging him to release the entire song, and he did! I'm sure it was intended for this project all along, and HE DIDN'T DISAPPOINT! The song is stunning. I hope you will react to the lyric video.
This song and MV is portraying Taemin's old self and his new/ideal self in relation to Plato's theory or something, it's too big brain for me some please take over and explain haha
Taemin is an amazing artist, entertainer, performer, singer and dancer. He's so talented like nobody can say otherwise, like NOBODY. He's so good, I can't breathe. Lol.
He said in the video he is somwhere in between hell and heaven. Also he is protraying his old self and his new self, this song is related to Plato's theory that's why IDEA is pronounced in that way. His brain is so big, and he comes with the best concepts. In my opinion that's what makes him so unique.
His creativity and artistic expression of his ideas and the fact he tries different sound and forms of music and manges to infuse it with his colours and his distinctive vibe is trule admirable.
Taken from a comment by Milinda Wilson from ChrisStillBeTalkin's Taemin "IDEA" Reaction Video 'As you may know, Taemin debuted as a solo artist in 2014 and "Idea" is part of his 3rd Korean solo album called Never Gonna Dance Again. It is part of a trilogy which started with his prologue "2 Kids," and continued with "Criminal" which is part of Act 1 of the album. "Idea" is part of Act 2 of the album and it brings the whole concept full circle. As Taemin said in an interview: "The two acts put together tell a story. ‘2 Kids’ is about growing pains and depicts the story prior to the story in the album. You can think of "2 Kids" as a teaser before the movie called 'Never Gonna Dance Again.' Act 1 shows a new side of me. I think it’ll be something you’ve never seen in K-pop before. And Act 2 is the end-all-be-all. It’s the ultimate level of intensity. Never Gonna Dance Again’ was originally the name of the concept. Because it doesn’t make sense for me to stop dancing. But I wanted to give a sense of rebellion with the irony of the title.” Some think, and I agree, that "Idea" is a metaphor for the way Taemin sees his career. He loves what he does, almost to the point of obsession -- like "my messiah" he is drawn to it and can't help worship it -- he practically needs to dance and perform to survive. But, at the sametime, it pretty much controls his life and living as an Idol means everything he does is done in the public eye and he will never be able to live a normal life -- his "dangerous dream that is engulfing him and "swallowing him" up. The stress and constant demand for perfection he feels may be "slowly Killing me," etc I particularly like the verse that says, "The blue light, When you and I face each other, Stained in it, All one's feelings, It's an infinite range, In my world, Most dazzling,The absolute value of you, My my IDEA." These lines seem to be talking about Taemin's fans. SHINee's fan color is pearl aqua blue, so the blue light you see in the MV and the blue light he talks about in the lyrics of "Idea," makes me think he is referring to the impact and influence the fans have had on everything he has done in his career. And although he loves and appreciates us, it has not come without a few sacrifices and negative aspects as well. The mutual love and respect between Taemin and the fans also has added a lot of extra pressure on him because he always wants to give people his absolute best and he is constantly trying to live up to an impossible standard of self-imposed flawlessness. So with every release from this album, the concept was designed to be darker then the last. In "2 Kids" he was emotionally and physically beating himself up with regrets and in "Criminal" he was living in a toxic relationship and being brainwashed to the point he was suffering from stockholm syndrome; he fell in love with the person (or thing -- i.e. his career) who is essentially inflicting all the pain and suffering on him. So in other words, even though you are being abused by that person (possibly a metaphor for the pressure he is creating for himself) he still can't help but love them and allow them to continue to hurt him, etc. :D "Idea" takes the theme one step further, and says that even though it was my idea and my plan to live this life, nothing comes without a price, and because of that need for perfection, any chance of being average or living a regular life is pretty much dead. Taemin has sacrificed everything to become the magnificent and unique performer and person that we know him as today. But there really is no one that pushes him or holds him to a higher standard then himself. Taemin has said that he really has never taken a true vacation since he was a trainee -- he started with SM when he was around 11 years old -- and he doesn't know what to do if he isn't constantly working and training. The thing that he hates the most is when people assume he has had it easy because he is part of a big and powerful company and he is so naturally talented. As he has said, there has never been anything that has come easy to him and he has only gotten to where he is today because he has worked hard to accomplish everything. He is constantly pushing himself to become the best of the best in everything he does, and his strive for perfection is what has made him the industry's top dancer and one of the most popular and well respected artists. Fun fact: The female voice you hear in the song is BoA. She is a solo artist also under SM and she is Taemin's highly respected senior who debuted with SM in 2000 at the age of 13 and, now after 20 years, she is known as one of the senior-most members of the industry. BoA is legend. Taemin is just one of those performers that leaves you speechless every time he steps on stage. He was born to be a performer and that is one of the reasons why he has become known as the Korean Michael Jackson. That is also why, as one of the top two performers in the industry (Kai from EXO taking the other top spot), and why he was made a member of SuperM. Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. If you watch Taemin dance more, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always be very Taemin-like. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin is art in every sense of the word. :D Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years, as you see with "Idea," he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him. And, as the youngest member of SHINee, Taemin's talents are one reason why SHINee are one of the top groups in the industry and why they have such legendary status. SHINee is made up of some of the absolute best singers, dancers and performers in the entire industry. With more than 12 years since their debut, they still command one of the top spots. When Taemin debuted in 2008 as part of SHINee he was only 14 years old and, yet, he was already known as one of the best dancers in the industry, and he has only gotten more magnificent over the years. Now after 12 years Taemin is still one of the youngest in many Kpop circles and, yet, he often has the most seniority and experience. He is so well respected that everyone looks up to him. He is a legend among legends. The funny thing is, although Taemin is ultra confident when on stage, when not performing his personality is the complete opposite. That's what makes him even more lovable and why he is so popular. When on stage Taemin can turn his sexy, sensual side up to 3,000 and he becomes the most powerful and magnificent performer that commands the stage. But the minute he step off the stage he becomes quiet and shy and he blushes when people compliment him for his looks or performance. When not on stage, Taemin, is known for being sort of innocent and kind of naive and a little ditsy, as only the maknae of a group can get away with -- he is 2 to 4 years younger than the rest of the SHINee members and he plays up being the baby when he is around them, and they pretty much will do anything he asks. He knows how to be cute when he wants something, but he hates it when someone asks him to be cute. LOL. ' Personally, you can FEEL the way the whole album's been building up to this. This is the final story arc (for this album at least) and it can't get any more epic than this (which I'm sure he'll prove us wrong AGAIN as he always does). Before I read the above comment, the MV already gives this strong feeling of obsession and surrender. I am absolutely in love with everything about 5HINEe, and I can't be any happier now that Minho was recently discharged and finally I can scream, "*SHINEe'S BACK!*". Okay, I won't keep this too long xD Lovely video and you've got a new subscribe in me!

I agree with everything you said! Taemin AGAIN slays it with a new concept, choreo, style, visuals, artistic and captivating dancing!! Just stunning! Taemin has grabbed my soul, again, and dragged me into his world and I’m loving it!!! I loved your reaction and the things you said and described. Take care. 🇨🇦
His dream or his goal of being an idol and being successful are both his saving grace and killing him slowly. The good and the bad coexisting being successful with your dream. That’s my interpretation. It’s an magnificent record.
Thank u for your reaction! He's definitely become his very own IDENTITY... And that's the name of the last song in the album, which we've been waiting since last year! 😭😭😭 And it's also where the whole storyline ends! He deserves recognition for all of his hard work... it was all his Idea!!! 🤩
The people who told you that some WAP songwriters were involved in writing IDEA were correct! Two songwriters for WAP, Austin Owens and James Foye, are also credited among the songwriters for IDEA.
Yass the emperor came back harder!! This song is based on Plato's theory, hence the duality. I agree, nobody does it like Taemin. He invented TPop, a legend.
taemin is not just an idol, he's an artist. a talented artist.
Yes this is fact

It means he successfully deliver the message of this song.
Taemin said the video represent heaven and hell and the forest is the rebellious scene but he also that it's up to your on interpretation. The song is about plato's theory on forms! Taemin really does it different then others and I love it so much!
💜💎💜TAEMIN OMG IDEA -"killing my softly"female vocal BoA 💜💎💜 Taemin's style is so good that it is breathtaking💜💎💜It's a masterpiece! I absolutely love it!!!💗💗💗Taemin deserves his own genre. Nobody does it like him. Taeminpop. Such a one of a kind artist💜💎💜
I think his white outfit is the crazy side of him and the Angel/devil scenes happens all in his head, his IDEA of good an bad, heaven and hell.
the "killing me" part is just wow 👏❤️
1:13-1:15 "this man is never afraid of experiment thing".. experimental music =SHINee thing.. he debuted in contemporer band 💙💙💙

The busiest male soloist of 2020! These last 3 comebacks - Taemin just has that [je ne sais quoi]

C'est fou comment il arrive à nous captiver. Il est incroyable.
