My Granddad used his Farmall 140 for tobacco. Had a Holland ?? one row transplanter. Had an old harvester that carried 1 row on either side. He had a stick barn. He quit growing tobacco about the time the bulk barns started catching on with the racks to hold the leaves. Now all that is gone and everyone uses combines.

Yeah I rode a Holland pull type 1 row. My two sons were helping my neighbor plant. I take a day off work every now and then just to cut land for him for fun lol

Like the man said! Youngins need to be broke in with hard work! I was on the setter way before that age and that was when the only dropped one or two rows at a time! This is one of the easier parts of it but it still 100 degrees when it’s done! Tobacco will definitely make a man out of ya!

Yeah that machine is like cheating compared to a finger planter. Lol thank you for watching.

I’d like to see how the plant gets from the cups into the ground. We had an old 2 row planter, it worked different.

When that cup lined up with the shoot the bottom opened up and it literally fell straight down like a dart. Plus the root ball was a small wedge shape because of the trays they grew in.

I grew up riding a one row. I still have it hope to use it some next year.

Some of the hardest work there is. I didn’t like the sticky sap. Glad we’re just corn and soybeans now.

Being that I got slammed into "I pay full premium" Obamacare and there is a 50% premium penalty if one smokes I don't know what a cigarette looks like. Ahem. Wife keeps saying Honey why don't you grow tobacco? She doesn't understand that the growing is the easy part: work is at harvest and curing then processing:if I smoked, which I don't,don't know what a cig looks, like, not sure I've ever heard of them.... Time to write that $1175.00 Obamacare premium check, while not smoking.....
