Vastly simpler and safer with a good sized chart plotter

Nice little video, straight to some important points. Liked the description of light sequences and recommendation to take notes of expected lights on the route. The first couple of night sails, I chose near full moons with little cloud cover and light winds. This gave my confidence for stepping up to the next level. My biggest challenge and risk has been other boat traffic. Shore lights can make it extremely difficult to identify vessels underway. Many working vessels have well- illuminated deck lights that obscure their NAV lights, and I've seen small fishing boats with no navigation lights or AIS at all. This year I've installed RADAR to complement the AIS.
    Happy sailing.

The first year my pals and I owned our 25’ C&C back in ‘75, we sailed day and night, and night sailing was the best. We were in our home waters of Buzzards Bay, so we knew all the buoy and lighthouse light characteristics by heart as we sailed between New Bedford and Mattapoisett or Woods Hole. It was great fun. Zero accidents over 20 years

Well I had to look up all those places on Google Earth. Wow. It looks like an amazing place to sail. Thanks for watching.

Excellent, very clear for an armchair Sailer like me. Thanks for another interesting video.

I watched a few of your videos in a quick binge session, John. They are clear, concise, well edited and well-animated. Putting videos together takes time and effort, especially with the added animation inserts. There are few sailing TH-cam Channels with such brevity and clarity: Toby Goes Sailing, Patrick Laine, and Sailing Wave Rover being the others I might count on one hand along with your channel. Thank you, and I hope the channel grows in relation to the effort you are putting in.

I HATED pulling into Mackinac Island in the pitch dark, no moon...son on watch at the bow, and trying to miss all the rocks and jetties....
If course I'd do it again, but I do need to get much better Thanks for the video...
