I'm absolutely jealous, not because the size of the fish or the equipment you use, simply because you mentioned you go out fishing with your dad. I'm living in South Korea while my dad lives in The Netherlands (that's roughly 10k kilometers away). Although my dad used to love fishing, he can no longer do due to physical limitations. Coming May I will be heading back to The Netherlands for a short break, but fishing on perch and pike will be done mostly on my own. Enjoy the precious time with your dad, Sam, while you still have the chance.
very nice fish! out of curiosity (not to blame anyone!): Is not fishing for perch and zander in depths over 8-10meters (to be fair to the fish) already a thing or being discussed between fishermen in the UK? In Germany over the last year there has been an article in the biggest predator fishing magazine (der Raubfisch 1/18 "wie tief ist fair?") losely translated "how deep is fair (to the fish)". It summarised international studies about bass and walleye (as there is no study known about zander and perch and their anatomy is very similar) caught and released in different depths. It turned out that a high percentage of those species die when being caught in certain depths on the bottom despite being released. I don´t have the article in front of me unfortunately but the interesting part started at about about 8 metres when the mortality started growing exponentially. In depths over 15 metres the chance of survival was less than 10% (reason is most likely the barotrauma). So, a lot of German youtubers like Big L or Uli Beyer already advise not to fish for zander and perch in depths over ~10 meters. Fishermen in Germany are starting to avoid fishing that deep as the word spreads. So, I was interested whether that is a thing already in the UK? (again: not writing that to blame anyone but out of curiosity)
i see where your coming from here bro and i havn't read the article, but i can imagine this man has caught alot of fish at over 8 metres, i'm thinking if he found them to be dying he would stop doing it Im not trying to argue here so no hate please
Hi sam, great video, great angling. Can you or anyone else on here advise me on the box that you sit your fish finder on. Is that what your finder travels in to the venue or your batteries live in it whilst on the water?
Great fish! Perch fishing is so much fun! By the way, you can find Largemouths in Europe. It exists at least in Portugal and in Spain. It was introduced in Portugal by the end of the 19th century. Interestingly this species of perch doesn't exists there, maybe due to the water temperatures and climate.

Nice video! But like Mr. Redfin said, they are very big and fat now here. If we catch one it's at least 2 kilo now ;-)

Man come too the Netherlands, here you can catch 50+ Perch or more!
Yes, but nobody wants to tell me where exactly. And they have plenty of water so where to start?
Waarom nodig je ook niet wat Polen uit?, weet je tenminste zeker dat ons visbestand naar de klote gaat
Catch and release gaat boven alles voor mij!
Capture? Not catch?
