But anyway, they probably had a lot to tell and show before they could allow Michael to break down. And he did so painfully beautiful. 💔😭 You can feel his desparation, his guilt and his all encompassing love for Alex. I am glad that Max came for help and has his back now. There is no way they can fix this but together as a team.
This has been the most real Michael has been. He can feel guilty about not listening to Alex's sign and angry at himself for chasing the idea of going home. But he is torn up about Alex. Michael is rarely this desperate, fighting for the people he loves.

I get why people are mad alex is not in most episodes, but to me it doesn’t seem like it’s just a writing problem? It feels like the actor was unavailable (maybe for personal reasons idk?) and the writers had to find a way to write him out of most episodes
Yeah, but the surgery wasn't until this spring. If you e.g. watching episode 1, you see him getting up from the sofa carefully, slowly, almost fragile, as Michael confesses the Gazebo thing to him. He was already in pain then and there were only a few episodes planned without him, but then it got worse and he needed a break. And yes he said some might not be happy at first but he also said the suffering will definitely pay off. (I can't get word for word together anymore. But I - personaly - sniff out a proposal from Guerin here, friends!) Then in spring was the surgery, where he was literally screwed. I saw the x-rays with a plate and 4 screws in the spine in the pelvic area. So for a while no more Shakira hip swings for him, which he love to do. But now he's training again, strengthening his back and seems to be fine. And he can wiggle his booty again. However, he filmed the rest of the season still with his back pain. I hope the fans appreciate that, he gave everything he could for Malex.

He was always in less episodes but he ended up having to have a surgery and that's why he was out.
