That was an incredible performance!!!!!
Great job yesterday, guys! We made our mark!
"The little South El Monte that could."
Thanks for uploading the videos, Luis! :)
You are greatly appreciated at South El Monte.
Noone appreciates you
Congratulations to South El Monte! Seeing such a tiny band, many (myself included) did not expect much, then POW! South El Monte set the new standard for how BIG a small band can sound! Every musician could easily fit in with ANY band that competed today. Your Sousaphone is outstanding. A VERY musical performance. You have MUCH to be PROUD OF!
Drill Team Sweepstakes - Awesome!
Great stuff as ever! Full marks for South El Monte band and dancers- a credit to yourselves and the school for as long as this video stays on TH-cam!
Wow!! very impressive, a small band with big sound ! and very nice flute/piccolo sound through-out!! very nice
Band director was smart about assignments.
So close to taking our division. It was a bitter sweet victory taking 2nd since we're the starting band but got beat by only .15 of a point. Highest music score in our division and tied for highest marching score in the whole review. Workman beat us in showmanship :/ Well we set the bar high for the other bands in C to follow and we were happy to even go and place there at all. This has been the best marching season for us ever and I'm proud to be part of "The Little South El Monte that Could".
I'm glad to see that you got your channel back with all your content! I was crushed when I saw that everything was just gone. Good to see everything worked out.
Thank you. I'm glad it all worked out as well.
Luis, I can't believe you got the Arcadia performances posted already! Thank you!
So. El Monte had an excellent season, including this weekend at Arcadia. 25 members + Eagle Squadron = big, confident sound.
Thanks Luis for posting the Arcadia videos so quickly!
very musical throughout.. great job South El Monte HS
The color guard has more members than the band. What a great job they all did!
You're welcome, Emmerick. I was very impressed with your performance yesterday. Congratulations on a job well done.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
You were awesome, and should be proud of your performance! Very Solid and Musical performance! All in your band are to be congratulated. In a small band like yours, there is no hiding, especially when you are the ONLY one playing such an important part. That is also true for the trumpets, flutes and piccolos are really exposed in this march, and were awesome! Let's not forget the euphoniums and trombones as well. I hope you audition for All Southern Cal Honor Band.
Small band. BIG SOUND!
You were awesome, and should be proud of your performance! Very Solid and Musical performance!
I was in the West High Warrior Band (before being called Entertainment Unit), Ronald Large Director - 1974 to 1976, and an Arcadia High Apache from 1976 to 1978. I played for a number of years after high school in Mariachi Los Broncos (Cal Poly Pomona), and Mariachi Mexicapan (afiliated with East LA College), as well as a number of concert bands, big bands, (including my own big band) and brass quintet. After a long break from playing, starting to blow the dust off my horns and play again.
Strong little band!
@iDigidude what band are you with?
Peep the 1 Sousa
@iDigidude yeah Im the tuba player
I wonder why high schools use military music
Because we’re military style parade bands. Part if the culture in SoCal especially because a lot of these high school bands and the organisations that moderate and host the competitions were started by military vets back in the 50’s or 60’s.
