My choir sung his Sepulto Domino on 21 Oct 2023 and I was completely mesmerised by his harmonic language. At once shimmering and the chord progression, unexpected.
The very first time I heard this, years ago, my jaw dropped to the floor. (36:36 on) Bar none for me the very best mvt of all in Z's many many choral works. It showcases his splendid energy, counterpoint, and syncopation to the utmost.
A volte penso che la musica profetica di Zelenka, più che un tentativo di dare gloria a Dio,sia un segno della Sua esistenza.Se questo non piace a chi si chiude davanti al Mistero,invece da godimento inaudito a chi crede che lo Spirito Vivificante sa sempre stupire e commuovere.
Come deve essere per ognuno:dare gloria a Dio in letizia.E in una cifra melodica armoniosa e festosa Zelenka lo fa egregiamente.Lo de anche a chi ha corredato il testo musicale con immagini bellissime.Grazie.

Merci pour cette MISSA et ce moment avec ZELENKA Eternel sublime.

Absolutely a great piece of choral music. The Gloria is just about perfect.

He apparently re-used the beginning of this for his C Minor "Miserere" which has been recorded a few times by itself.
