Welll I tried and it was fun. It's not coming back up and sleeps too easy. I think my axle is too wide and the gap is too wide. The wood I used is very hard and possibly too smooth so ad you said uoi judt have tomake another one lol 😂@JoshsShop
@davejohnson9495 glad it turned out, no pun intended, bummer it won't return though. Like you said, maybe narrow the gap, don't sand anything inside the yoyo, and check the axle diameter also. Good luck on the next one, it is certainly a bit of trial and error. I have made quite a few and I still get a dud occasionally.
@@JoshsShop turned out a modified style and a butterfly style out of cherry, for a first go they turned out ok! Per usual if I didn’t chase every imperfection they probably would have turned out great. The butterfly pattern will sleep even! Thanks for the inspiration!
Excellent m8y thanks for showing us how to make them ,and what a yo yo star you are great skills in that also ,kids are not kids anymore we need them to learn these playground skills LOL .Gonna have a go for my grand kids . Ive liked and subd you ,Greetings from Wales UK
They are fun. The trickiest part of making them, aside from having balanced sides, is getting the gap just right. Too big and it never returns, too small and the yoyo doesn't sleep. It took me a bit to get it just where I like it. I hope it turns (or turned) out great.
Great inspirational video and some nice throwing at the end -- thank you for posting. Have you tried turning a yoyo in two halves with an independent axle?
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have done several where I turn the halves and they have a separate axle. I will have to make a video of that some day soon.
Thanks for this. I am going to try it.
Glad you found it useful. I hope it turns out well, no pun intended. 😁

Also try a bit of wax on the axle / string. though you will need to re apply every once and a while :)
The video of making it was very impressive, but the skills with the yo-yo were awesome. Good job!
That's very kind, thank you, and thanks for watching.
Finally a turner who understands yo-yos turns yo-yos! I love it! going to try one myself!
Thanks, I hope yours turns (no pun intended) out great.
@@JoshsShop Thanks! found a piece of cherry and a piece of hickory I think I'm going to try...we'll see.

Fantastic! Careful though, the turned wooden yoyo rabbit hole can be a deep one. You will end up with towers of yoyos in persist of perfection. 🤪
Nice demo. It's fun to watch the yoyo tricks.
Tremendously helpful! I just made a beautiful walnut yo-yo for my son with your tutelage. Thank you!
Awesome! I am glad the video was helpful.

@@JoshsShop Thanks for your response. I would certainly like to see a video of a yoyo in halves with separate axle. Thanks again for a great video
The Yo Yoda!

I like yo-yos just don’t know how to use them.
