How dare anyone suggest you cause drama!!! Life is full of drama and yes, there's drama queens, but you 2 are Treading the Globe, stuff is bound to happen, especially to Trudy who's been absolutely amazing! 🥰 My name is Marianne too 😁
Your paranoia of bears is so funny to me. I grew up in Alberta and camped in those mountains every summer, and never once thought to bring bear spray. LOL I only ever saw a family of bears once when I was camping in BC with a large group of friends and we just sat and watched them in the meadow next to our campsite while we casually ate breakfast.
There are few things in life that are better than sleeping in the wilderness with only the sound of the water and the birds to lull you to sleep. And you are absolutely correct - sometimes you have to drive the worst roads, to get to the best spots (and it's always so well worth it)!
I love your sense of adventure and your enthusiasm, thank you for putting so much time and effort into producing your videos, you are my kind of people
I've lived in Edmonton for 40 years and drive to the mountain parks often. I can say without reservation that the summer of 2022 was the busiest I've ever seen up there, even with a significant reduction in buses full of chinese tourists. Lake Louise is not even worth going to now, it's so busy. Avoid weekends, especially long weekends, even visiting Jasper. September is best, but a lot of campgrounds close after Labour day weekend. If you like alpine hiking, July and August are the only months where you might not encounter snow, but lots of times I've encountered snow in July and August.
This is so fun to meet you 2 and also see Bea and Theo! We were so looking forward to seeing the videos from their trip to Canada but then their tragedy hit. It is sooooo GOOD to see they were able to hae some fun too!!!
Great video. Wonderful to see you with Bee and Theo driving through this beautiful country, and camping such at a wild country spot and having fun. Have to repeat as I have done a good bit of wild country camping, and not seeing bears is a Good Thing. ha
Bearings, muffler, van problems - you have a 2 wheel drive and taking it into 4 wheel adventures - It makes sense to trade Trudy in for a 4 wheel Van. Secondly thanks for keeping us entertained with your various introductions to life in Canada and your take on it.
LOL - yep Trudy is not built for this kind of challenge - but neither are we ... we will hopefully get through this together in one or two pieces at least !! 😂👍🚐💕
I was guessing cougar footprint. If there is a bear, let's hope he keeps on going. At least you have a vehicle to sleep in. We slept in a tent when we went there.
I keep finding tufts of white hair at random places along our local forest walk at Knocknarea mountain in Sligo. Vouching that there are no predators, lol. Would also be a strange place to brush out a dog after a romp in the forest. The mystery continues...( I haven't sniffed the wool, must do the next time I see some, aftershave???)
I woke up to your video. I was so excited to watch it 😊 the views are absolutely stunning, the water looking gorgeous. Ty for sharing.. can't wait for your next one even though I'm still binge watching your older videos. I watched Montenegro, Macedonia & Albania & now I'm going to watch Turkey 🥰
@@TREADtheglobe Hey, just wondering what camera you use for wildlife recordings? Do you use a tripod or does yours have really good image stabilisation?
It could have been dog fur. We do a lot of backcountry camping with our huge 150-pound Great Pyrenees. I will often brush the dirt and sticks out of his long white fur when we leave, and it can leave tufts of fur. Great soft nesting material for the birds. We also don’t have to worry about wolves and bears with him by our side. ❤
Hello friends . . awesome little waterfall . .gorgeous little paradise Marianne your my hero always braving the water temp 😁 continued safe travels and happy trails 👣 much love my friends ❤️ 🙋♀️🥰🦋🌻🌺🌼💐🌹🌸🌷
The train track issue made me chuckle. We watched a huge neighborhood of homes be built right next to a track. We can hear trains through the night even living a mile away. We thought surely no one would buy those houses, but they have. I can imagine how they felt the first night when they realized that the trains don't sleep.
After a while you no longer hear them. I know because I’ve lived beside CP tracks for years. Even the trains with 200 carriages. Trains! What trains?😊 Nearly every settlement village town and city is near the train in Canada.
I'm looking through your old vlogs (obviously) It's not drama when it's your home. Our 'family car' was a 1970's Toyota camper who spent a lot of time in the garage down the road 😢 But served us well.
I’ve dreamt of finding a riverside place like that, to light a campfire and hang a hammock, but not gone off the beaten track far enough yet, certainly not in Norfolk. Good to see all these rocky places (and Theo and Bea) - thanks
we live 3 1/2 hours from Jasper and of all the times we have been there and through there we have only seen one baby grizzly bear. You were fortunate to have such good weather when you were there. Cheers
I'm not sure what the delay is between posting your videos and real time. Returning to Banff area for September sounds a great idea though. There is a nice period just before school gets out and again after it returns, when the weather sis still pretty good, but the crowds are gone. Campgrounds will still be open and serviced, because this is when a lot of seniors/retirees prefer to camp, with things nice and quiet. I think the hump period is even more pronounced in the mountains, as people watch the fall colours and start to think about skiing. Holiday makers who are there for the skiing wait until they know there will be be good base before coming out. It can effect your mileage a little, but if you are going to be driving on a lot of rough roads in the future, you might want to consider a lift kit? They are very common in Western Canada/USA and can be fitted by yourself or by a mechanic, they aren't that expensive, and if like many vans, yours has things like heaters or tanks that are underneath, even a couple of inch lift can help you get around safely. And don't worry about coyotes or wolves - and wolves will reply if you howl to them.
Hi Adrian - that sounds great - we have tried to find a lift kit ... but it turns out - the 5 garages that specialise in lift, will not supply or fit lift on Trudy ... But we will keep our eyes open when we get to Australia as they have lots of Trudy vans 👍
@@TREADtheglobe I think lifts are quite popular there too! You can go from simple blocks to replaced leaf springs and shocks with the lift - improving suspension can extend the life of a vehicle too. At the post office in the auK I worked at we had a round that they used to keep a separate vehicle for, the round was very 'rural' and at least once a year the engine would break off its mount!
Another popular mod - especially on vans and trucks that are going to be carrying a load all the time, is to have airbags put on the rear suspension. - trucks that carry slide in campers are especially fond of that mod, since a vehicle intended to carry loads occasionally is permanently compressed with the weight of the camper
Those are two of favourite channels - we would love to meet up with them one day - but we are on opposite sides of the country !!
