I'm contemplating doing this on a 2017 Titan ai just picked up. But, what a ridiculous procedure. Sounds like Nissan engineering for sure. But hey, thanks so much for the great detail you offered.
Thank you for making this video. It’s been very informative. One question I have is, the fluid that you drain out the first two times. Is that fluid now waste or do you recycling back into the system since it was new?
Capacity for these transmissions is 10-5/8 qts. On average when I do a total drain and fill, I refill almost exactly this amount. I use the ThinkDiag OBD2 Bluetooth device.
@@MrJohndawkins06no. You will not be able to fully drain the transmission without a vacuum pump. You drain the pain each time which usually gives about 4 quarts at a time. The rest of the fluid will remain in the transmission’s main chamber.
Im having my 2019 titan shake a bit once its shifting from like 30 to 40 miles per hour, im thinking is while shifting from 2nd and 3rd gear, would you happen to know what can be the issue?
Great information, thanks for sharing! Given the miles you got on the vehicle, have you checked carbon build up at your intake or notice any drop in power?
I have removed the throttle body and cleaned it. I recommend making sure you have a capable bidirectional OBD2 scanner that can perform the “relearn” procedure if you disconnect the throttle body. Always disconnect the negative terminal on these trucks when you do any kind of work on an electrical part!
Im not understanding completely. Drain the fluid out 3 different times, after the initial drainage of the old fluid? Am i reusing the new fluid i just put in the first time and drained for the other 2 times, or is this new fluid getting drained and put back in 3 different times?
@@dennisfillion3069honestly you don’t have to do that 4 step process. It’s a complete waste of money. Just drain & fill once like the good old days . Every 30k you’ll be fine.
I disagree with Bulletz 💯. The point of the drain and fill 4-step process is to remove as much of the old fluid as you can. When you open your pan, you will only catch about 4 quarts of oil. There is over 10 in this transmission. The rest remains in the primary chamber of the transmission. By completing the four step process, you are circulating the newly added oil into the main chamber and drawing the remained of the old out. The idea is to get as much old fluid out as possible and replace with a new clean fluid. It is NOT a waste of money. It would be a waste of money by only completing the drain and fill once.
Welp. Finished my 3rd drain and fill. Brand new pan installed. And the difference was almost immediate. First 15 miles this truck woke up and is banging gears like never the 2 years I had it. I will be draining again in 4K miles. Thank god for TH-cam. ** if anyone has that low bog between gears like the rpm is too low *** Also take your MAF out and clean it / test it. Along with the throttle body ( mine had some gunk ) these engines are better off with oil catch cans. 🫡🇺🇸🫡
Wnat kind of OBD2 reader do you use to check the ATF temperature?

Excellent video!!!! I have a 2018 Titan SV. I'm taking mine in this time for a fluid change, After that, I will do them myself.

What Bluetooth OBD monitor do you use? How much atf did you use in total?

@@BlondeSasquatch82 so when you do the flushing 4 times for say an 80k mile flush, you used close to 40 quarts?
@@BlondeSasquatch82under which settings are you able to view the ATF temps? I’ve been searching all day on the app with no luck

About how many quarts comes out at a time?

Is that the shuttering you are talking about?
Also, when do you add the additives(shutter guard and the seal protectant)? Do you add the additives on the last drain and fill?

what is that on the hood? Got a link to it?
have over 90k miles on mine and never thought about replacing it till now... that's crazy that you have to replace the oil on these things so often
90k isn’t often ha
Change it asap
I change it like I do to maintain the OEM transmission. It may be overkill but it works for me.
Just replaced mine for 1st time at 125k I'm original owner
would the valvoline maxlife work on a 2021 frontier?, they do have the exact same 9 speed trans
Yes.
Filter changed??
No filter. There’s a screen you can clean off, but there are a gob of bolts to remove after you remove the gob of bolts to drop the pan.
What he said ☝🏻
So, there's no way to check the transmission fluid level from the engine compartment? You have to do it all from underneath?
Correct
@@BlondeSasquatch82damn. Great vid. I was like this is crazy. No inlet to put fluid under hood. But again thanks brother. GREAT vid!
Hows is that z1 exhaust? More power? Responsiveness?
I love it. I definitely think I can feel a little more “umpf” from the Z1 exhaust. It definitely sounds great!
Is that 1 gal jug of ATF good for three drain and fills?
You’ll need just under 5 quarts for a drain and fill.

These transmissions do not have a filter. They have screen that can be cleaned.

What is an MAF?
@@selkhisMass Airflow Sensor. It’s located on the intake duct that runs from the filter to the throttle body.
