I am very familiar with the physics of pianos, and realize how difficult it is to maintain one when you cannot provide a controlled environment including not only consistent temperature, but humidity and atmospheric pressure as well. They are so like giant thermometers, hygrometers, and barometers ha ha! Pressure has the least effect of the three, and is generally only a factor if you move the piano to a significantly different altitude. But temp and humidity can be real problems. Two things to be aware of before you decide to recondition that one: (1) if it tends to not stay in tune in certain segments of the keyboard, it could have a cracked pin block; (2) if it has a buzzing sound, it could have a cracked sound board. Either of those situations may require replacing the damaged item (pin block or sound board). Such replacements are very expensive, and usually not worth it unless the piano has some very special significance that makes it unusually valuable. Most do not. In the UK, some Broadwoods might be worth it, and almost any Austrian Bosendorfer, but not a lot of others. Sometimes a cracked sound board can be "surgicaly" repaired, but that can be iffy and requires a talented technician. Another less serious cause of buzzing can be a loose copper over winding on one or more bass strings. This is an inexpensive and easy repair. In any case it pays to check into it very thoroughly and cautiously before putting a lot of cash into a restoration. With your level and mix of talents I have no doubt that you will make a good decision when the time comes, but I just wanted to mention the biggest pitfalls that came to mind. Pianos are amazingly complex puppies when you delve into their inner workings. Hope you will gift us with your playing from time-to-time ... LOVE it!

Little did I know that I would get to continue to see a complete video with Michael revealing his font of knowledge about history and cuisine and playing the piano.. Most enjoyable, also includoing the sweet Florian playing the piano., Michael do not complain about the beautiful garland your Mum and Sis made for you, as I witnessed all the walks into the forest made to find the greenery and the making of the dried rings of orange and lemon, plus the fashioning of the garlands and wreaths for all of the Chateau.Just hand some baubles on the backside. Mistleoe is very interesting, until I saw it growing in this years Christmas vlogs I didn't know how it grew. I was also surprised at the size of branch where it was cut... as it grows on a host tree, guess I thought the branches would be only thin... seeing it here, it's like ivy... which can become really thick. The view from the "cherry picker" is fantastic, it's the ultimate big boys toy and the ridge capping is beautiful. Thanks Michael and Florian, Happy Holidays! 🎄🦘

Your piano playing makes me happy!!! I played for over 10 years in my childhood years. I wasn’t interested in playing at the time because all I wanted to do was dance and the piano was my grandmas dream for me. I’m a professional dancer but now as adult I wish I never lost interest in playing. I would be so happy if you did a vlog of you just playing for us 🎹
I saw that too but didn't want to bring it up. Why I wonder would it come out now about his past?? It did answer alot of their history and how they ended up in France.
As I got older, I tended to feel less Christmasy too. It got better when I became an Aunty and could enjoy the kids' excitement. What helped the most though was when I realized the best part of Christmas is kindness, compassion, and generosity. I simultaneously learned not to care one iota what anyone else thinks. So now, in the few weeks leading up to Christmas, I wear silly elf hats, glitter antlers, or wacky Christmas glasses. I smile at people, hold the door for them, say hello, and wish them happy holidays. When I can, I'll buy a coffee for the next person in line or leave big tips for those working in restaurants. I'll pop a bit extra into the charitable giving or make a little crafty thing for someone I love. I work at being patient and loving with others and myself. I also take lots of vitamin D. All that now makes me love this time of year again and has brought back more of the Christmas magic. Much love to you and everyone there.

Michael, as an amateur pianist and organist I loved your harmony for "Silent Night." Do you improvise your chords, or is that a professional arrangement for which you have the music? I would like to get a copy if so (If it's available here in the States). I usually do improvise my own accompaniments for Christmas carols, but I really liked your chords! Your haircut looks really good-saw it when you were fixing the tree swag. I think it also would’ve looked pretty over the exterior of the door. That was generous of you to collect so much mistletoe for your mom & sister to use. I’m sure it will be beautiful in their designs!

I buy it after it has been dried out. It lasts for ever if you are careful with it. Michael you could dry it out and sell it. Most people just want a piece about the size of your hand.
Next year try a nice group of greenery outside above the entrance to the cottage--all would see it and it would stay fresher outside. Loved the piano playing. It charged my cerebral batteries.

Michael, as an amateur pianist and organist I loved your harmony for "Silent Night." Do you improvise your chords, or is that a professional arrangement for which you have the music? I would like to get a copy if so (If it's available here in the States). I usually do improvise my own accompaniments for Christmas carols, but I really liked your chords! You have an excellent touch on the piano IMHO. I think that under your tutelage Florian could do quite well too. Keep up the good work, Mr. Talents Unlimited!!!
Your haircut looks really good-saw it when you were fixing the tree swag. I think it also would’ve looked pretty over the exterior of the door. That was generous of you to collect so much mistletoe for your mom & sister to use. I’m sure it will be beautiful in their designs!

I buy it after it has been dried out. It lasts for ever if you are careful with it. Michael you could dry it out and sell it. Most people just want a piece about the size of your hand.

Next year try a nice group of greenery outside above the entrance to the cottage--all would see it and it would stay fresher outside. Loved the piano playing. It charged my cerebral batteries.

Christ-mas is the reason for the season. Michael you have two beautiful nephews that will delight in seeing your cottage decked out for the season. It’s just me in my home but when my grand kids come their eyes light up and that is worth all the work to me.
