Hey just because you guys want beat up hardhats like mine, you don’t have to drop trees on your heads to make it happen. There are much less painful ways to beat up your hardhats.😁 I am glad you were wearing them and avoided tragedy. Nice looking logs you got out of those trees.

Well Mike it took you years to beat up your hard hat. At our age we need to speed the process up a little bit. Thanks for the safety tip a while back and for showcasing the cool forestry hat 😉

Ouch! Beech is heavy too! I've been dropping the ones that have beech bark disease for firewood before they totally die. Definitely a hazard in the woods as they tend to break (as you found out!) about 10 to 20 feet up the trunk.

I see the mushrooms on living beech trees, didn't know what that was about. Now I know. We will be cleaning up some beech trees now along with the ash Tree's.

Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Yikes ! Glad it wasn’t a much bigger tree. My buddy John is a professional logger and after over 20 years in the woods last summer he finally had a big tree get the better of him and messing up his leg really bad requiring a couple surgeries and now has a bunch of metal in his leg. He had to crawl up on his skidder and get back to the landing by himself go get help. After all that, 5 months later the guy still managed to kill a big buck at the end of the season. Glad you guys always work together when you’re in the woods.✌️✌️

I had no qualms about working alone. Hard habit to break. If I work alone now I get yelled at by both the wife and my brother.

@@Twobrothersoutdoors unfortunately I have little choice but to work alone most of the time. Although if I’m dropping a tree or up on the roof I like to have Karen at least standing by watching so if shit goes wrong at least she can make a call.

I started using safety equipment about 7 years ago chaps saved a leg 3 years ago will not go to the woods without them again at 63 not as nimble. As I once was have a great day

I've nipped my pants a few times over the years with the chainsaw. Chainsaw chaps used to be so heavy and hot. I guess the new chaps are a lot lighter and not as hot. Probably should check them out!

No vines between the trees? Absolutely no reason for it to fall, that is the crazy crap that happens in the woods.

Absolutely belt and suspenders! Never been a fan of getting hurt 🤕 seems lately close calls are getting more frequent 😒 or maybe more noticable.

I started working as a Forester for westvaco in 1975. That's the way we were required to notch the tree. It's the most comfortable way for me to notch with gravity assisting 😉 If I were cutting veneer logs, I might rethink the process.

Go to Amazon type in "full brim aluminum hardhat" and they will come up. The suspension in them is doable but not very good. Later I purchased Lift Safety HDF-18RS DAX Hard Hat Replacement Suspension
To go in the hat also from Amazon
