The south and west arrows were more similar to those used to give the solutions in other puzzles (and also in this one, as such an arrow was pointing from the north arrow to the east one, but he didn't get those squares)

@@trinalps on old TV sets there were dials to adjust the vertical hold, because TV signals would roll over and over. It's a little hard to explain, but once you see it you'll get it. That dial or knob the image was pointing at was usually referred to as the vertical.
@@ChargeQM They also crossed out the horizontal line but not the vertical one, so it makes sense even if you have no knowledge of old televisions.

everything about this game is more complicated than it needs to be. Even the letter selection. And its weirdly dark at times with the burning building part. Someone at some point had to stop them and say guys its just pictionary. What were they all on when they made this.

The left and bottom arrow look just like the arrows in every other image, so it's understandable he'd think those were the ones of significance. Not having the arrow in the top right really screwed him.

THERE WAS NO WAY ANYONE WOULD HAVE GUESSED VERTICAL EVEN IF THEY HAD THE WHOLE PICTURE WTF
On those old style TVs there used to be settings known as vertical hold and horizontal hold. In the image, the TV with the horizontal arrows is crossed out. It's a bit tricky, but easy enough with the whole picture.

I can understand vertical now. The pictures are of two televisions. Back in the day, before digital signals, you had to adjust the picture holds, known as Horizontal Holds and Vertical Holds. It's where the phrase "Do not adjust your set" came from. The bottom television had the Horizontal Hold with a giant line through it, indicating "Not This One."
Given that nobody has owned a TV with those knobs since 1989, it doesn't surprise me that nobody got it. Especially anyone under 30.

I've never seen Master of Disguise but I had a VHS with a trailer for it when I was young so I know that "Am I not turtley enough for the turtle club?" line and where it's from solely because of that
The crazy part: the next thing from the trailer - "TURTLE! TURTLE!" Wasn't even in the movie!! I was so mad
I truly feel like this is the only reason any of us know this line.
That was the funniest part of the movie, you're not missing much. The whole film is literally just an excuse plot for Dana Carvey to do as many impressions as possible.

He was the first president of congress, which became the office the Vice President holds

I think the music is quiet so people don’t get sensory overload. The music is bangin’ but usually pretty intense. That with dialogue would probably be pretty overwhelming for a lot of people. If you want to hear it, just look it up. It’s all on youtube and it’s worth listening to on it’s own.
Try watching the anime "Ghost Stories" Dubbed (must be the dub), it is absolutely hilarious and perfectly filled with offensive jokes!
