Young Nails do a series called how much where they do example nails and then tell you how they would charge for them, would love to see videos to show examples of how to charge for certain popular designs, I think lots of us undercharge and it’s good to get more of an idea of how to charge more of our worth.

While it could make it easier for nail techs if someone set prices for services and made them universal it can't ever work that way. In places with high demand (Las Vegas, for example) a nail tech could charge really high prices for services to all the show girls, cocktail waitresses, card dealers, strippers, call girls and high rollers or the wives and/or girlfriends of high rollers, but only if there aren't enough nail techs in the city to supply the demand for the services. However, if every nail tech in Nevada moves to 'Vegas the day after they get their licenses from the state, the supply will be higher than the demand and that drives prices down. But it would drive the prices up in Reno and Tahoe because the demand would be greater than the supply. You have to know your market. I live in a really economically depressed region of northern California. I wouldn't be able to charge $300 (let alone 300 British pounds!) for a set of nails, no matter how complex, because 99% of people here just don't have that kind of money. I hope I made that understandable.
@@calichef1962 Perfect description of supply and demand. I grew up in Northern California (now in Oregon) and my mind is scrambling trying to think of what area is economically depressed! Unless you're up by Redding, etc.🤔

You're probably charging too little. Most small businesses do. If you delivering amazing quality (be honest with yourself - are you?) Then you can charge more. You shouldn't charge to compete with the cheap places that do crap quality. Charge premium price for premium service. Then you can spend more time to deliver quality product. I dont work in nails by the way, I'm an economist lol.

I don’t even do nails, let alone wear them, but I love you and your channel and it brings me joy to watch you every time you upload a new video. I adore cultures from around the world, and the fact that you are British makes you 10 times more lovable to me. Having a mom, a sister, and five nieces, I feel it is my duty as a son, brother, and uncle to become well-versed in subjects such as hair, nails, and make up (it tickles me that you use Jeffree Star cosmetics because I adore him). You are one of the most amazing nail artists I’ve seen on TH-cam and you are just as cute as you could be!
But I must say, you’re not the first person to complain about why us Americans spell words differently- in regards to the way us Americans spell the words ‘color’ and ‘flavor’, the theory why we omit the ‘u’ is because back in the early days of the printing presses, they charged by the letter, so certain “unnecessary” letters were omitted from words to save money and to also allow extra words in the articles that were being printed. This became such a common practice that it has been ingrained in American culture that the way to spell these words is naturally without the ‘u’. So it’s not that we’re misspelling it, it was just a situational conditioning based on the printing press from back in the day and somehow it managed to stick with us. Being someone who grew up spelling the words without the ‘u’, personally, for me, it seems odd and superfluous to add the ‘u’, although I agree that it is technically misspelled.
This is just one concept as to why, but Noah Webster is a Lexicographer who claimed the reason is between French (-our) and Latin (-or) roots as to why the words differ based on region, I think.
These are just my thoughts as an American. Love you so much!❤️

I have been an avid fan of yours for well over a year now and look forward to every new video each time I see that notification pop up when I open the TH-cam app on my phone. I have always thought how enjoyable it would be to sit and just chat with you about nails and life in general - that it would be so much fun. But since I live in Georgia in the US and don’t do nails or anything remotely close to it, this type of video will be the closest I will probably ever get so again THANK YOU for this one and please do more of these!

I am not sure if Kirsty reads these comments as she has a full life and is very busy but I would like to thank her on behalf of countless women (and likely some men it is 2019 after all) who have learned to do nails from watching Kirstys tutorials which have empowered many young women who are single moms by being able to make money doing nails,Give a man a fish he eats for a day teach a man to fish and he as well as his family will eat every day for a lifetime.
Learning to do nails has given me pure joy and as well as a creative outlet. I am wheelchair-bound. The year I became wheelchair-bound I started watching Kirsty's videos and it really gave me hope because it was something I could do, I wonder if Kirsty even realizes how many women she has educated, empowered and inspired over the years with her tutorials ... Thank you both for this. You know, at first, I didn’t care for your channel because at that time you were mostly doing acrylic stuff, and I was more into dip powders and gels (still am). Plus you have such an over-the-top personality, and I’m more of an introvert, it took me some time to warm up to you. Now, I can’t get enough, and this video just seals the deal. I feel like I know you much better, and I love everything you do. Don’t ever change. And give Adam a hug from me too!
Had to add this; My little sister (who’s in her late 50s) is a true fan of Michael Jackson, and has been to his grave site, home, and does his dances and has a Halloween outfit that is amazingly acccurate! Just had to let you know!
Watching the Q&A's are very fun. I also love watching your videos. I am not the best at doing some nail art but I still try. I don't have any gel polish and was wondering how difficult it would be to use some of your techniques with regular nail polish?

Suzie isn't a gel tech she's more acrylic have u seen the vid she did with Liz from the nail hub ? And if u watch her channel her vids r mostly acrylic
I think you'll find Suzie is most definitely an acrylic girl.
I agree with Steph and Lucy. Suzie has only just started learning and using gel. She does, however use gel polish quite frequently.

I'm old school too. I trained with acid primer and find myself gravitating towards acid primer most of the time.

Hi Kirtsty! If you haven't already, it would be interesting to see a video explaining things that are okay and what to expect when going into a salon to get nails done. I'm a guy and I've been wanting to go in to get my nails done but I've been a bit intimidated. Is there any tips you have for feeling less nervous about going in?

You can also mix nail polish with clear gel and cure it just like a coloured gel!

Come on guys conversion for celsius to Fahrenheit is double it and add 32. So, 0c=32f, As you go up it is within a few degrees though. When I’m converting that’s what I think to myself, double it and add 32 gets me Fahrenheit. There you go, you learn something new every day. Absolutely love the Q&A sessions. ❤️🇦🇺
When you get to Las Vegas again you MUST go see the show "One"at the Mandalay Bay. It's a Cirque du Soleil show; sort of a tribute to Michael Jackson with costumes, dance, acrobatics,etc. It's amazing!

love seeing your competition nails. They look good in there cases but is it possible to ware them? if so how would you attach them?

Can you do a video on how to fix mistakes in gel polish application? Sometimes I cure for the correct times for the product and lamp size but sometimes it wrinkles or bubbles.
Sarapatchkid18 there are a LOT of videos on TH-cam covering this. If your gel polish is wrinkling it bubbling then your polish layers are far too thick. Also, make sure you are removing the inhibition layer between coats as this will stay under the thin cured layer. Darker colours do generally take longer to cure than what is stated on the bottle as the LED/UV takes longer to penetrate through the darker pigment.
I'm still at two to two and half hours for a full set also... I prefer sculpting nails too..

I can say putting gel top coat over regular polish doesn’t work. Especially if you do dishes or take a shower. It wrinkles and looks terrible. I’ve tried and it fails every time. So as long as you stay dry and apply no heat of any kind your good to go, for like a night out maybe but the minute you mix it with a shower it’s over.
Hi Kirsty, I absolutely love your channel, but as a busy mam I didn't get my question up in time , I have recently become allergic to both gel and acrylics and I think it maybe mostly the hema in the product is there any product you can recommend to use that I won't react to as I miss doing nails ,love from Dublin

I live in LA. If you ever get serious about moving here, do a trial run first. It can be very different from what you imagine. It’s also very expensive.

I do have another question. On naio nails US site, the prices are now listed in "£". It used be listed in US dollars. Why has that changed? Do you know?

I use nippers on my cuticles, but very sparingly. My golden rule is, if it hurts, it's obviously living tissue, so I'm really very careful with my nippers. But I've started using my e-file to exfoliate, and it really makes a big difference.

This was what I’ve been waiting for! I’ve taught myself how to do Acrygel using your videos, and I’m always intrigued to learn more about acrylic!
