Agreed! Fairy Tale made me “rediscover” King and take a look at his newer works!

I'm starting to get into his newer works now too! Holly was my first read of 2025, and I really enjoyed it.

@@elizabethaliteraryprincess I was gifted a copy of You Like It Darker. I read the first two stories -- v good. But I had to put it aside for other reads. I'll have to get back to it soon.
I think I have a copy of Holly somewhere around here. I'll add that to my ever growing tbr list!

Oh I want to read the sister novelists books. My favourite book of the year is 'Glorious Exploits' by Ferdia Lennon set in ancient Syracuse where two potters decide to feed Athenian prisoners in exchange for them performing Greek tragedy. My favourite non fiction was probably 'Metaphysical Animals' by Clare Mac Haill and Rachael Wiseman, about the philosophical moment of: Iris Murdoch, Philippa Foot, Elizabeth Anscombe, and Mary Midgley.

My greatest NEW author of 2024 was George Gissing and New Grub Street my fav book of this year. He is imo a master storyteller near the level of Dickens! I next read Odd Women (fascinating!) and now I am now reading Nether World. It grabs ya immediately & so far a real page turner. Secondly, fav read of 2024 was Deerbrook. Wow! So Good!! I finished The Heir of Redclyffe and was just OK for me. I don't fault the author at all & I'm looking forward to reading her more in future. My only reread of this year (aside from Bible) was Wuthering Heights and I did enjoy it much more the 2nd time around! I read 50 books with a 3.6 avg rating. I am soooo looking forward to your "stats" video!! Love ALL your videos! Thanks so much!!

I've hardly heard anyone talk about Fairy Tale! I haven't read any of King's fantasy except the gunslinger, which wasnt for me. Do you find that he retains horror aspects in fantasy or is it a full genre switch?
Wyldling hall has been on my TBR foreeever, gonna finally give it a go this month!

He definitely retains the horror aspects in fantasy, although the extent varies. I felt like there was less of it in this than in The Dark Tower series, but it's definitely there. You might enjoy Fairy Tale even though you didn't like The Gunslinger. It's a very different style.

When you smiled, I knew exactly what book you were going to name. I exclaimed, "I knew it!" Don't you wish that when you die, that an author would write a tome about your life to make you a finalist for the Pulitzer. I have to say that Trollops masterpiece is one of the best books I've read It was a big book but I would sit and read and consume it. Same with Lady Audley's Secret. Have you read The Wife? It is by Wolitzer. I think you would love it. It was released as a movie. it made me buy the book and read it and I don't usually read modern novels.

I wish I could do something important/interesting enough to warrant a biography on me that was one quarter that size! 😂 I have read The Wife and really enjoyed it. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I want to.
