Great video! St Ann’s well was (and might still be) the source of the Beck Burn a river that separated Nottingham from Sneinton. It still exists today as the Beck Valley Storm Culvert built in 1884. A few street names give clues to its course near Sneinton market such as Beck st and brook st. It has an access tower in st Mary’s rest garden and flows into the Trent at the end of Trent lane. Would make a good follow up video from this one 😉

These videos are so interesting. I feel Nottingham has such a rich history but isnt valued enough as a big enough place to be covered alot by others. Thanks for making them!

In 2018 i worked on the new houses and had dealings with the existing drains and noticed in the foul drain system there was a constant flow of clean water that you don,t normaly see in these drains. Who knows it could of been the overflow of the old well

Dont understand why we dont tap the well and sell Robin hood magic water inernationally or at least supply are own with it rather than drinking 7trent water that comes from wales

  • @christophersmith5691

Alas, not much magic around the well now (though traces of the suburban railway, bridges, cuttings and tunnel portals do still exist in places) it's a grim public sector housing complex where crack cocaine and heroin abound
