It's high time that I gave a shout-out to all the people who have supported me with their generous donations via Ko-fi over the years. Whether it was a one-time occasion or multiple donations, small or larger sums, all of it is greatly appreciated. Their names appear at the end of the animation. I can't thank them enough. As my home country is falling ever deeper into into an extremely harsh economic crisis and my TH-cam revenue has become a mere fraction of what it used to be, I would be lost without their help.

Now this is phenomenal. I love how Kong's fur shifts every so often like in the original as well as being at a significantly lower framerate than Godzilla. Favorite part's definitely when he starts screwing around with the prop followed up by the comment about the original plans on depicting Godzilla. This some good shit!

Fun fact: Originally, Godzilla was to be filmed through stop motion like Kong was, although since the movie was scheduled before the end of 1954, they didn't have the time, so they started with the man in a suit.
Yeah that’s right and that’s how suit-motion began so for every Godzilla movie they used suit motion until 2004 then today Godzilla is now cgi.

They used puppet Godzilla for closeup shots on the mountain in the island scene and also the tower scene in original 54. A full armature of Godzilla 1954 though? No. King Kong was also a puppet too in 1933 original. A giant Kong puppet was used for close up shots during the jungle scene and the theatre scene at the end of the movie. The rest was armature stop motion capture. The guy in a suit was more rougher to bare than stop motioning. Pick your choice. Hot sweaty or lots of hours chaoticly playing with a toy in front of camera.

@@tylercheung1194 in fact the animatronic was never used in the film, The animatronic was discarded during production because of the frozen animation and is now in a museum dedicated to Toho films.

@@boi7316During the 1960s, Willis O’ Brian and Merian C. Cooper, the creators of the original King Kong, we’re going through some very tough times with their film career. So, in an attempt to keep their Kong movies going, Willis O’ Brian pitched the idea of a new King Kong movie to multiple movie studios, who all turned it down. One man however, named John Beck, liked the idea, and hired O’ Brian and Cooper. But behind the duo’s back, John Beck gave the legal rights to the character of “King Kong” over to Toho(the creators and current owners of the Godzilla franchise). John Beck thought that using the filming technique of stop motion would be to time consuming and would be a waste of money and he thought that using men in suits would be easier. A few years later, King Kong vs Godzilla would be released in Japanese and American theaters. O’Brian would eventually find out that Mr. Beck had crossed him and tried to sew his former business partner. O’ Brian lost the argument and would unfortunately die of a heart attack a few years later.

I am a stop-motion animator who's been animating since I was 12. I am also a lifelong fan of King Kong and Godzilla, loving most of the films from both franchises.
I cannot fathom the amount of talent, skill, passion, creativity, and utter brilliance this took. I will forever be fascinated by this. Greatest video on TH-cam. I hope to see your work in theaters sooner rather than later. So amazing.
I'm sitting here in a public library watching this and everybody's looking angrily at me because I REALLY enjoyed the part where the Big G pushes away Willis O'Brien and begins animating Kong himself. This is such a great video. I NEEDED a good laugh.

Poor Gojira. I love the animation in this it’s so smooth and it’s a nice detail how Kong is animated in a lower frame rate. And that Gojira voice at the end is exactly how I expect Godzilla to sound. I hope your stuff gets really big and popular some day cause this skill needs a lot more recognition.

As someone who used to do at-home, private stop motion projects when I was a kid, I can confirm that stop motion is indeed tedious. Never thought I'd be relating to a mountain-sized nuke lizard.

Not quite, the voices were AI-generated using ElevenLabs, then deepened and bass-boosted in the editor. I got some interesting results after turning the voice generator's stability to 0, like growling speech and even some awkward roars.

This is exactly why godzilla vs king kong has always been stupid to me. When one of your characters needs a massive rescale just to have a chance its most likely that the match up is flawed

What were the original sizes of these two in their first films? I remember a scene where they mention Godzilla’s size but can’t recall the number. They weren’t really this far apart in size I don’t think.
