    I am on Ozempic. I eat a high protein diet, always protein first, and I exercise every night for between 15 and 45 minutes doing walking videos online. I was warned about the muscle loss and was told to combat that by high protein diet and exercise daily. I take it for blood sugar control, but I have also been slowly losing around 2 pounds a week. I find that with my blood sugar levels controlled, I don't crave sugary foods and starchy foods like I used to. It's not a magic pill, just a tool that you must use with other tools to achieve the best results.

      @@emyly9206 I have now upgraded to doing weight machines that excercise my legs and arms too. I do about 20-25 minutes on the treadmill at an incline and fast walk (around 2.4 speed). I also do the weight machines that show which body part they exercise. I am no pro at working out, that's for sure. However, I want to minimize the muscle loss while losing weight. I was 345 pounds in May when I started this journey and I am now 311 in September, which is a 34 pound loss that my body badly needed. My next goal is to get under 300. Ozempic is helping me but it does have side effects. Being as heavy as I was though, the benefit of losing those 34 pounds is worth the risks. My A14 is back to normal too. The problem is that people treat it like a magic pill that will help them lose 10 pounds but this is a serious medication with serious side effects.

      @@Macgee826 Thanks for commenting with that suggestion! Good idea. I have stepped up my exercise game. I now walk at a 14-15 incline at 2mph for 30 minutes, then do strength training on my arms and legs at the gym to increase muscle, but when I get fit enough, I will try going up in the mountains and hike near my house. I am still on semiglutide, now at the 1.7mg shot a week. It still suits me very well, I have no nausea, no constipation, and it really stops my hunger. I began at 343 pounds and this morning I was down to 308.8. I've been on it for 4 months now, so that is 36 pounds down. I see my doctor every month and he says that I am likely losing just fat because of how much I've been working out. I work out at least an hour at a time, between 3-5 days a week. I stay active as I teach Kindergarten too, lol. So it has been a game changer for me, though for certain it doesn't work for everyone and many people have bad side effects.

Fry bread is cheap and a staple and tastes delicious but is horrible for health.

    People really need to do their own research on Ozempic. (If they really need it for weight loss). Ozempic is a GLP1 receptor agonist. GLPR1 receptors send the I am full single to the brain. ( this is a very simple explanation). Some people do not produce enough of this, and thus need a boost. That’s what Ozempic aids. It is extremely important to remember that Ozempic is just one part of a weight loss strategy, and should only be taken by people that are willing to eat a healthy diet and exercise. If you aren’t willing to put in the work and make the changes to your lifestyle, of course Ozempic won’t work, and the moment you stop taking it you will totally gain all the weight plus more back.

    • @KihmJones
      @KihmJones 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

      You won’t gain the weight back if you use the time you’re doing the med to change your eating habits and learn how to have a different lifestyle. For me it’s about portion control and exercise as well as stress management. I’ve stopped taking it for 3 weeks and had no problem with sticking with my diet and plan. No weight gain. You can’t take the med and carry on with your old ways. I guess you could but what’s the point? I have had not one bad side effect. Have felt great and have lost 55 lbs so far. Have another 20-30 to go. I intend to continue to keep learning and to stay healthy. This has gotten me over the hump!!! Love it!!!

      What the doctor mentions in the video regarding "starvation" and loss of muscle mass is a result of how ozempic significantly slows down the digestive process to the point you are essentially starving yourself as you are not digesting and absorbing food normally, while not feeling hungry. Don't eat to get full, eat to not be hungry. Due to the delay in signal transmission between the stomach and brain you will be over full if you eat till you actually feel full. If you feel the least bit full STOP EATING. I don't care how much is still on the plate. This was a BIG thing I had to learn and still occasionally struggle with. Eyes bigger than the stomach. Portion control. Eat several times a day, smaller portions. It works for most. Just takes freat discipline and will power. I fully understand it may not work for everyone for various reasons. @@redshed2020 I have spent my whole life going from normal weight to obese and back again. What happens is I'm prone to gaining weight, because the American diet - whether it be McDonald's or donuts, or bagels, or whatever, it triggers me to eat. This is not possible to understand unless you have the condition, because everyone gets hungry, everyone wants to eat. Everyone likes a donut. But the brains mental harassment is so great, that it eventually wins. Anyway, I also go back to normal weight and keep it off for years. It's like an addiction, I can be addicted to exercise. But I can also be addicted to donuts. Sometimes I can switch up the addiction, but not at will. It's too long a post to explain. But with ozempic, AT WILL, I can switch back into the good groove. @@butterflygirl3359 There is a problem with that logic. Forcing people to become obese before you give them the drug, is the worst possible use of the drug. If we knew with certainty that someone was going to become obese, it'd make more sense to head it off. If you wait until you are obese you have to be on the drug much longer, and at higher doses. And an obese person that is taking the drug successfully, won't be obese, they'll be overweight, and then only need 15lbs and then be normal weight - and os on, when do you plan to yank the working treatment out of their hands? People aren't born obese, they become obese. Btw, none of the problems she is describing would occur to someone being on the drug for 2 months at the lowest dose to lose 15lbs. This happens to someone that is on the drug long term and not following the diet and exercise plan - although the number of people that don't follow the exercise plan is huge, so they should be aware that it is the wrong choice to ignore exercise.

    I started the Mounjaro injections last wk which basically do the same as the Ozempic & I love it!! I’ve had ZERO negative effects & I’m losing weight. I mean being overweight & obese has its problems too & it’s not good on ur body, heart, circulation, organs, & basically everything. There are ways to prevent losing muscle & not all ppl who are on the injections are starving themselves. I’ll admit that I have basically zero appetite but I make myself eat something or at least grab a protein shake to take in some calories, protein, vitamins & minerals. I’ve knocked my calories way down but I’m not starving myself. Just making better choices & smaller portions.

In one month I lost 5lbs. but my body fat %went UP and I actually lost 2 lbs. of hard earned lean muscle. So mad, beyond the pale. I worked out during that month and my diet had plenty of protein but it was absolutely CATOBOLIC on my muscle. Not to mention by 3rd week I was exhausted. I did low carb and kept calories at 1200 which is what I have to do to move the needle. Sure it was good to not be hungry but several months later and back to my original BMI and muscle, I can say that I appreciate my strength and appetite. For me it was horrible, made me feel old and fragile and I really wonder if it did any more damage. Great drug for the death-fats but if you are close t to ideal weight don't bother. Same, although I'm in my 50's. It's because I'm going to the gym. Before I wasn't. Beginners tend to make gains by trying. Although I do want to say the doctor is talking about elderly people. Using some cycling terms here, between 35 to 55 years of age, the top end VO2 max a person can have (not saying they achieved it, but could've theoretically had) drops off about 10%. That isn't that much. But that drop off curve starts going up in the 60s and by the 70s, a person probably shouldn't drop muscle mass, but try to hold onto it, so that they can have a better quality of life as they continue to age into the 80s and 90s. I agree with the doctor about muscle loss, but not her main point. An obese person in their 80s has a lot of problems...the weight is a killer too. Hopefully someone in that condition takes the plan seriously, they may use ozempic, but they really have to be careful about the diet, eating protein and seeing what kind of exercise they can do in their condition.

      Taking off more than a pound per week risks loss of muscle mass, overwhelming the body with release of stored toxins and also loose skin. It takes time to put on weight, don't be too much in a hurry to take it off. Learn good exercise methods. Weight will come off if avoid sugar, grains, seed oils, ... Use intermittent fasting. Avoid using the standard American diet. Drugs should not be necessary. Sugar and the lack of fat leads to excess eating (snacking).

    With the addition of the correct peptides, this won’t happen. Semaglutide is a peptide and if you get it compounded, NAD+ can/is added. There are also several HGH activating peptides like sermorlin, cjc 1295. and impamorlin that have demonstrated success in increasing muscle mass and bone density. The problem is the pharmaceutical companies can’t patent these compounds because they’re naturally occurring proteins in everyone’s body. That means they can’t charge you an arm and a leg for something you already have. So, yes, semaglutide has some problems, but the real problem is our medical system

    I had zero appetite and was in the ER every week because my sugars were jumping from 400 to 20 no matter what i did. I have something growing on my liver which was making my sugars go haywire. And since I always nauseous, I was apparently “nutritionally starving myself.” Just 2 days in ozempic and I started eating 5 times a day. I’ve seen a lot of people go for medication’s that will help them lose weight, however, if someone has an eating disorder, has a medical condition etc, then it is fine as long as the physician tells the patient to stay fit, and consider proper nutrition.
    If you stop eating, and don’t have consume proper nutrients and aren’t walking at least 30 min a day, the muscle loss can really hurt you, especially if you have back issues and joint pain (a strong core and back muscles will protect your body)
