    Hi, just wanted to say a big thank you, I'm I guess a builder by trade and do a fair bit of internal plaster work, a bit of sand a cement but always hatted it. I remember grinding a slot for a lead flashing into some new render and was put of by how soft it was! after watching this video I decided to take the plunge and do my own extension, 45 bags of OCR, was a joy to use and really happy with the results. I also scratched it before Christmas then top coated last week no problems. Thanks for all the info love the channel.

    Great channel Blaine. Watched several of your videos and learnt an awful lot. I'm just a DIY guy who finds this stuff fascinating/magical to watch. You have a new subscriber.!
    Did a plastering course at a Building Skills Centre (Yeovil) quite a few years back where they taught you how to build your own beads and get them plumb and they then formed the guides for when you drew the feather edge up the wall and the benefits of applications using trowel - float - trowel for a super flat finish. Your review of the Webber product is very timely as I have a wall where the render blew and was hacked off but there remains a base layer that is rock solid. Trouble is that neither the builders not I have manged to get a new application of sand/cement to stay keyed more more than a few weeks. It might be that I have to go back to bare blocks but the base render the very hard and I don't want to risk compromising the double glazed units with the vibrations that a SDS chisel might generate while hacking it off. This stuff might just be the answer. I see Webber do their own render bond product as well. This could also be just the ticket for internal walls that have been coated with Thoroseal damp proofing as well. Great job with the channel!

    Used plenty of this , I use it over a rend aid scratch on troublesome or smooth bricks , Always a believer that a scratch coat should be left for a few days or your defeating the object of a scratch coat as going straight over it just smooths the coat underneath anyway and then has no solid key , You also gotta catch this product at the right time or can be a pain to float up, When floated at the right time it does rub up lovely though and is a nice consistent finish, Sand and cement is just as good and a lot cheaper it’s just getting your mix ratio right with spot on correct bucket measurements not shovels !! and experience with using it ,

    Hey Blaine, thank you so much for all your recommendations and videos. I bought you packages with starting out plastering and it’s helped me get started on a career as a plasterer, I’m pretty much self taught and through online tutorials, Im a plasterer but much to learn. I can see is sticky, so l think l will use it tomorrow for a first time.
    I got under window bowl which all rendering is off. New wood frame is on with metal mesh so that only will hold the rendering and pebble dash. So l need one coat just to make it solid and I don't want wait so long to apply again with worries that this will come off like the sand cement if is too early.
    I will find out tomorrow.
    I can tell by looking that this will be ok.

    I used bag render for almost 20years, sand cement always cracks over time but bagged render tends to be silicone based which gives it flexible and breathable property's, remember using HP12 alot as well had to mix it like water and let it pick up in the tub.......... the good old days 👍

    Can I use this product tot finish a wall that has been rendered with one coat of Knauf UP210W? It’s a sand cement mix, this wall sadly was’t flattened with a ruler nor scratched after the layer was applied. It had been worked with the trowel too much in an attempt to flatten it. I’m not satisfied and I would love to apply a second layer. Can I use this product? Do I need to prime it before I do?

      I’ve only ever used ms20 but went back to standard s&c because although I liked the consistency and same day scratch and top I found ms20 a ball ache to rub up being so sticky, I wasn’t as bothered the bigger aggregate brought to the surface when sponging but it was definitely not as easy to rub up as standard, maybe Weber is better?

    • @joeblogs1169
      @joeblogs1169 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think if you can afford the cost it’s better to use two coats of the same material due to expansion. Plus especially in my region the sand is heavily contaminated with china clay. I have tried to wash it out myself but you can’t get it clean. Cement will not bind with clay and so the mortar is compromised . With the bag renders you don’t have this issue. Plus you can get more finished work done in a day , which may be beneficial to the flow of work, so other trades can complete their tasks.

    • @PlasteringForBeginners
      @PlasteringForBeginners  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with Joe. Looking in the forums it seems that most of the issues come when it’s used alongside standard sand cement render. I think it’s best to use it as it is - I’m getting better results and I actually feel it’s faster.

    • @PlasteringForBeginners
      @PlasteringForBeginners  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      People do it but I think it’s probably best to use it for both coats. Looking at the forums and it seems that a lot of issues arise when people use it on a sand cement scratch.
      But I’m not fully sure. Maybe someone testing could say because I haven’t personally tried it. Sorry 👍
