I hear massive attack, bjork, dj shadow, mf doom, so much influence from this that carried over to later artist. This is mind blowing this is from the 70's
This might be from the later 2012 stuff actually Edit: Actually I don’t know and I can’t tell, there’s stuff from this band from the 70s, 90s, and 2000s and it’s way too confusing to tell which era it was made in.
@@dmtea because the other people who were in the project came back around the 90s to do something with it, then in 2012 I think they released a new album using some of the old material they had sitting around from the 70s.
Just works! Brilliant Basqiuat!!! I play this daily as an entrance to a bad ass tune from people like Numan and NIN’s. Brilliant!!! What a loss to the world. What a legacy!!!

+Marv Servil I believe this is the movie version (Basquiat 1996). I mean, its the actor voice. The original is is found here on youtube, under the same name, 3 min long.
This is not Basquiat speaking, its Jeffery Wright. Jean was much younger sounding, especially when he did the original recording. Just youtube him and Jeffery and youll see the different voices.
Joe likes to ask questions. What's that French? What kind of pills? Are you in prison? How's it killing you? Do you love him? You ok? What's that noise?
this is the joint that schnabel cut out of the movie 'basquiat', and that holman said was cut because schnabel didn't want people to see basquiat's 'true genius'. in other words, and these are my words, not holman's: schnabel is jealous of basquiat.
I think this version is from the movie "Basquiat" but was recorded by the remnants of Basquiat's band Gray. It's also sort of further complicated since the band never made any actual records until after his death.
-You are referred to as a black artist!

Where did this image come from? I haven't seen it in any of Basquiat's work, and the only "Gray" album I could find has different album art.
Sounds like it'd be a great sample for endless new tunes for younger kids to create 🙂
