  • In this episode we show you the type of motorhome we are getting. Have a look at the comparison between the 20-5 Jayco and the 24-4 Jayco. We decide to purchase a car that we can flat tow behind the new motorhome. See how all that plays out.

    Hi Guys,
We have been following you since we found you on TH-cam for a little over a month now - we have been a kind of silent watcher. Thanks for sharing online - very interesting and informative of your travels.
We hope to be on the road in a month or 2.
We have been waiting to see what upgrade you were going to make and interested to see what your MH would be.
One thing we would value your opinion on is that by switching to the Merc is the ‘rocking’ that happens now that your are moving to a rear wheel drive. We noticed at the MH dealer yard, even stationary, that just walking around the MH it shakes, whereas with the front wheel drive allows the rear wheels to be wide - right out to the edge of the MH frame.
I have also noticed any HM we follow around corners and especially round-a-bouts the Merc’s (& all rear drive MH’s) they lean right over compared to HM’s like you small one you just sold.
A HM owner told me about this. So one of the things I did was get underneath a Merc (rear wheel drive) MH and there is only about 1.5 metres gap in the centre between the rear wheels which is where the springs actual hold the MH chassis.
Anyway, if you want to be bothered checking this out, we would be interested in your opinion…, or if you go ahead with your Merc purchase do a review comparing the ride ‘roll’ of it compared to the small MH’s ride handling which has a much wider rear wheel base.
I guess its a trade-off between front and rear wheel drive. Anyway thanks for sharing your experiences. And we were devastated and felt for your so much at hearing of your botched rental experienced…, and then your Suzuki damage. You are quite an inspiration with your cheerfulness in your frustration and misfortunes.
Keep that Aussie spirit alive. Cheers, Denis and Kathleen.

Hi Denis and Kathleen, thanks for the lovely message. So glad you like our content, we try to just be ourselves. We had our handover today of the Merc but cant bring it home yet due to registration hold ups. We will definitely let you know regarding the drive/rocking and how it performs. We are looking forward to being able to pick it up and getting back on the road. We wish you all the best for your travels and hope you have a fabulous time out there, with no issues hopefully. We will do a video on the differences and how we find the new MH.

I found your channel a few weeks ago and love your content. So sorry to see what happened to your little Suzuki. When things like this happen I say to myself that it is only metal and can be fixed. Nobody was hurt. I presume that the tint guy is paying for the repair!. I live in Lake Macquarie and my husband and I have gone around Australia a couple of times with our caravan. We sold it earlier this year and are looking at buying a Jayco motorhome to travel some more. Of course our big question is whether to get a motorhome or another caravan ….. so we will be watching your channel with great interest to help us make that final decision. Best Wishes for all of your travels. I’ve subscribed 👍😀

Hi, many thanks for the comment and for subscribing to our channel. We are pleased you found it! While we cannot compare the motorhome to a caravan, having never owned a caravan, we can say how easy it is to set up and pack up a motorhome. We love the ease of it. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions and we are happy to see if we can help. Yes indeed the tinting guys insurance paid for the repairs to Suzuki and totally agree with you, its only metal and no one was hurt. Always try and look on the bright side. Cheers.

I tuned into your you tube channel about 3 weeks ago and I am thoroughly enjoying what I have watched so. You are real down to earth people, not being over the top like some other channels. We are in NZ and about 3 months ago we purchased a Benimar Tessoro 486 which we absolutely love. It is front wheel drive. The dealer advised to stay away from the Merc for the reasons that one of your subscribers said in their comments. Looking to seeing your new MH next week. Keep up the good work. 😊

Hi thanks for the message, glad you have tuned in to our channel. We looked up your MH as we had never heard of a Benimar Tessoro, it looks great. You would have some beautiful scenery to see in NZ. We did hand over today of our new MH but cant pick it up for maybe a week or two. Cant wait.

I would be very wary of anything a dealer tells you in order to make a sale. Do your research and hear from a variety of sources. Personally I would always go with RWD especially with dual wheels at the rear on a bigger MH. There are some good salespeople and there are shonks in my experience.Make sure your decisions are informed and objective.

Really keen to see the bed sizes and differences with the MS24 vs RM20 (that we have too), do you sleep N-S or E-W? Also agree that MS has a better bathroom and we like the washing machine. But is the fiat more stable (wheels wider at the rear? ) . Following! 😀

Hi, thanks for the message. We will let you know how the Merc performs in a video when we are on the road. We sleep EW and think the bed in the Merc is wider than the 20-5 but are yet to confirm for sure. We hope its bigger.

Hi Brian & Kerry, we're enjoying your travels very much, the new motorhome sounds great and you'll love the flat tow Suzuki Swift, we have a Fiat Jayco Optimum with a Suzuki Swift tow car, they're a terrific combination , you can't feel the car most of the time....nice choice. Enjoy your new set up.
