- Hi everyone! The only law is the law of hoots!
I hope you know understand the Gloryhammer timeline better! It took me a long time understanding and editing this video so I'd appreciate a like and subscription if you did enjoy!
This may not be the complete picture of the story, and I apologise! I have tried to piece together what I can, however, I have used some of the information from the album information booklets, but not all information and therefore, some information may be incorrect. Feel free to correct me.
Please go listen to the band, they make fantastic powermetal and I thoroughly enjoy their music:
open.spotify.c...
All music in the video belongs to them, and most of the background videos, however, there are some from LoTR and various Star Wars films.
Thank you!!
Hail to Hoots
Hi everyone! I loved making this video and I want to continue making more! What are other powermetal bands which I could cover the storyline of? Or better yet - what other topics would you guys be interested in watching? Thank you!
Maybe they have too many albums but I'd love to see a breakdown of Rhapsody lore
@berniekoen9073 which rhapsody?
@@sanemero3940 the Italian one? They made Symphony Of Enchanted Lands. Because of some legal issues they changed their name to Rhapsody Of Fire a while back
i just discovered you channel i i must say that it's a great video ! I would love to see more like that especially with the band orden ogan, they also have a very rich timeline yet to be explored
I think most of the speed and power bands do a lot of ballad style stuff, but it's not all one single story.
Celeste and Dream Evil have story albums too.
This whole timeline can be summed up as this: Scottish royal family has bloody feud with a basket weaver.
All Dundax’ fault
or another would be: Emperor's New Groove Gone Wrong
Scottish hammer man and basket-weaving spells caster are not very good friends.
Also unicorns.
Basically yes
slight correction - It's both Zargothrax and Angus singing - Angus is being overconfident, Zargothrax literally wants to do a funny and set the universe on fire.
So, all of that could've been avoided if Dundax built his house a mile down the road.
He’s selfish is what he is!!
please note emminent domain is needed sometimes and european urban planning sucks
Power metal lore. TH-cam truly needs more of this.
I think so too! Do you know any other bands with a storyline which I can cover?
@@hyperdeluxeyt I know Rhapsody has a shitloard of original lore that spans multiple albums.
Dragonland also tells great stories but I don't know if they're interconnected somehow.
Maybe Lost Horizon? Although they only have 2 albums.
I know there are many great bands out there that write great albums that you could analyze. But it's not as perfect as with Gloryhammer and Rhapsody where the lore is there to pick up on in a more classic narrative sense.
Idk man, lots of things to explore in the power metal realm. I've been considering doing the same thing for ages already. Glad to see you're making something that people enjoy.
I subscribed. I'll be keeping an eye out. If you need help getting some ideas hmu
Definitely would love to see more Lore breakdowns like this.
So definitely 100% the best Dungeons and Dragons campaign idea ever
Idk if someone said it before here, but the band members confirmed ralathor prime *is* terrorvortex ralathor, and ralathor from the terrorvortex turned into ralathor 38-b in the 38-b timeline.
So basically, it's like this
Ralathor terrorvortex dissapearing from, the terrorvotex --> Ralathor vortex is spotted as a hermit while 38-b goes back in time to show the prime gang how to traverse the caverns --> (converge from 38-b) Vortex Ralathor kills 38-b to preserve continuituy, while vortex ralathor gets a position as a teacher [fork path 1] -> Death in 2nd album
[fork path 2] -> Ralathor 38-b, gets the sword of the lord of the goblin horde and after realizing that the sword lord said that if he told anyone in the future, he'd be vaporized instantly never said anything about the past, heading off to show the prime gang how to traverse the caverns (converge to prime)
This is why the timeline calls him the mysterious multidimensional hermit. He was never born in the original timeline, and was a creation from the terrorvortex
Also the stuff about the sword lord is revealed in the official booklet that comes with Return to the Kingdom of Fife
Doing gods work I tell you Gloryhammer has made me laugh and scratch my head for days trying to piece together what lore I can find
It certainly was a difficult task understanding the timeline
Powermetal lore in addition to some quality memes? Hell to the fuck yes.
The Omnissiah has blessed me with a new Channel to follow.
My interpretation of the lore is the Gloryhammer is a receiver powered by a stellar-laser.
That's why it's so powerful AND why it has no power in other dimensions.
Angus must find a suitable star which peaks at the same wavelength as the hammer.
There is, however, no transmitter to beam the star's power to the hammer.
Angus XIII must fly into the star in order to charge it up again.
This is why he needs a 'magic jetpack.'
This 'jetpack' protects him for long enough for the hammer to charge up again and defeat Zargothrax.
Ooh yea I like that! That’s cool.
A little clarification, you say at 19:40 that when Proletius is stabbed by the Knife of Evil he is corrupted by the power of math. I think you misunderstood the reference to Anti-Telosic Power in the song. I always saw this as a line with a pretty deep meaning.
Telos is Greek for end, and is used in philosophy to mean the final cause of a being or action. Teleology is the study of why things exist. A tool made by humans has the end of being used for its purpose. For example, the end, or Telos, of a shovel is to dig. A big topic in philosophy is why humans exist so the end or Telos of humanity is often equated with the ultimate good. If humans can achieve what they are made for then they will be perfect.
So an Anti-Telosic power is a power that corrupts something into being the opposite of what it is meant to be. I hope this little philosophy lesson was interesting to someone.
The knife of evil is anti-telosic? What would happen if you stabbed Zargothrax with it? :D
In another reality, Cosmic powers summoned and ressurected Angus Mcfife the XIII, gave him a sword created by the gods and transformed him into Angus McSix the master protector of that universe!
Surprisingly informative and well-edited!
Keep going!
The only thing i want to mention, is what "the ertifacts can't be so close" in Starlords' section is not fully right.
More likely, is what Starlords' knew, that all artifacts could fall into wrong hands and thought: "if artifacts are very close it's likely that someone is fighting using them" - so made an "alarm mechanism" that would tell them if someone is using their artifacts for evil
Ah right, thank you very much. I appreciate your feedback!
At some points it Sounds like you did the whole voiceover in one long take. If so: Holy Lord, that's impressive :)
Well believe it or not, it was done in one take! I just had to edit out the mistakes which I made during that one take… which was a lot…
Damn, thank you. I bought all albums and listen to Gloryhammer since years but didn't know it is all so complicated. 😂
Thank you for your work
I love how you put the song that goes with the section your talking about
I want to say, this has sooooo many warhammer 40k references, great video btw
I really hope Tommy and Gloryhammer set aside their differences and make a collab one day like Angus McFife II vs Angus McSix, that would be sooooo fucking sick
Me too! Maybe someday, maybe not, who knows?
Thanks so much for this video - just got into the Gloryhammer lore and was so confused. I just finished my listen-through of all their albums alongside your explanation and it was super helpful! Thanks for expanding my knowledge of the Gloryhammer multiverse XD
"Gigantic dragons made out of steel" probably means space warships, possibly the "Battlecruisers" from the last song in the album (Apocalypse 1992)
Amazing video with a comprehensive timeline! I have a few corrections or just comments about the content of it, though some of the information might just be my own interpretation of it, not objective. Also, I am not naming things you said wrong but were corrected with added text or subtitles.
-angus the fifth does not exist in any album (yet). The information you give is probably correct, just not discussed in the songs.
-scotland is not a wasteland from the beginning, only after it was nuked in the fourth album, it becomes a nuclear wasteland.
-just fyi, the hootsman (=warrior on unst) is like the terminator, being a cyborg killing machine movie star in hollywood.
-18:08 yes, he sacrificed the human race because it would save the rest of that universe. The universe has way more life in it than just all life on earth.
-18:15 little detail: kor-virliath would not be spawned, but a portal would be created, so more like summoned.
-20:17 well idk about this, not really a mistake either, i just guessed that the hammer was powered with cosmic infinity or some fantasy stuff like that, and the charge could not be transferred through the terror vortex, woch just made the gammer weak. I guessed I just tried to make some meaning of it lol
(Never mind this one, you discussed it later in the video)
-22:44 idk cool fantasy space stuff (aka just don't think about it)
22:29 i guess one submarine yes, but the hootsforce referes mostly to the people (angus, ralathor, the resistance) I think
-25:07 I absolutely love the comical way you talk about this, amazing!
-32:45 I think that long ago is the first album
-37:39 I don't think the ralathors survided
38:08 multiverse not universe
This may seem like a lot, but they are minor details and could not have made a better video than you did. The only other thing I'd like to add is that you could have showed where all locations are on a map of scotland, since as you probably know, all of the locations in gloryhammer are real places (except maybe the land of unicorns). Still, you made an insalely good video! Thanks for reading this whole comment btw, I know it is a bit of a long one...
Thank you very much! You’re too kind
Angus V is the one shown in "Fly Away" so he does appear in a song
The Hootsman is Schwarzenegger: He's a barbarian (like Conan) who crossed the sea (Schwarzenegger is an immigrant from Europe) and became King of California (he was governor of California) and a movie star (no need to explain), and is a cyborg (like the Terminator)
I'm seeing these guys for the second time next month. They are possibly the most fun band you could possibly see live.
I saw them recently in their europe tour with beast in black and brothers of metel. I had an absolute blast, so I fully agree with them being one of the best bands to see live. Hope you have fun!
Bro you went above and beyond for this lol. Awesome work. I'm seeing them in a few days so this saved a ton of time thinking of the lore
I always wondered about the complete story, so thank you for making this video
The avenger and star wars vids are actually quite fitting where you're putting them. Awesome job on this. I was always curious about the story of Dundee and xargothraxs shinnanigans. :)
Absolutely amazing video, thank you. Going to their concert in two weeks and tbf this lore is very much too much for my simple brain 😆 but absolutely great video
Wow! Lucky. I really want to go to a Gloryhammer concert but I just missed it because it was 18+… Nonetheless, have a fantastic time at the concert and thank you for your kind words!
That really sucks, well u will be old enough at some point 😆 and i dont think they plan on stopping having concerts soon either
Tbf that convoluted lore is part of the fun xD
32:37 You wouldn't believe how I happy I am to see people use my shitty animated gif for videos and memes! :D
hahaha the gif is fantastic! Long live the Robot Prince of Auchtertool!
I'm going to see their concert tonight in London and this is SO helpful. I’m so jazzed right now. THANK YOU!!
I wonder if the time travel into the Terrorvortex results were based on the power of the person transported, like the more power a person has the earlier in the timeline they show up.
Hoots just detonated his power supply, so it stands to reason he'd drop first, Zargothrax had gathered his last shards of power first, so he made it farther, and Angus had an at least partially charged Hammer of Glory, so he made it farthest, and also his Hammer was drained after.
Purely commenting for engagement, but that aside, your voice sounds amazing. Also great video.
Thank you so much!
Hail Hoots!
All hail!
I like how every place in Scotland sounds like a name from D&D.
My favourite is Auchtertool. It doesn’t even sound Scottish AT ALL! I love it!
@hyperdeluxeyt ALL HAIL THE ROBOT PRINCE OF AUCHTERTOOL. MAY HIS REIN BE ETERNAL.
He... he does rein forevermore right?
@@jeremylackey6587 aye in our hearts.
Most of Scotland also looks like D&d too. Not so much the cities, but the countryside does
23:00 I remember Chris saying that ''the hammer's battery was empty and needed recharging''
Great video, appreciate you puting in the time.I'm going to see them with Twilight Force on march 11. I'll give it a couple watch to be REALLY up tp date haha, ty again, cheers.
Been tempted for the longest time to make this kind of video myself. Really please someone else had the same idea!
I have a theroy that Angus McSix the story that the singer started (or continued) is what he kind if wanted for the story because in the first song of the album he states that his hammer has lost his glory which is Angus stating that he made mistakes making him evil and the glory hammer is assume is meant for a hero of pure heart and the advancements made to it is the only reason that it didnt work before so the story of Angus McSix is him fixing his mistakes and making a better universe
np
Too bad his album is mid.
Disagree 😊@@rodycaz8984
22:46 They might be working off of D&D Spelljammer logic; all things in space there have a sort of 'personal gravity' so you'd bring oxygen with you. The bigger the object, the longer it can stay in space without returning to atmosphere, basically.
We really need the Robot Prince of Aurchertool to return.
He has returned! To Dundee!
@@potatosummoner6296 For the battle raging over the seas
He is the mecha-king!
Nice vid and thanks for the CC
Finally! Thank you!
Good job, dude!
Thanks!
Thank you. Thank you so much for this!
Glad to be of service 🫡
I still wonder what happened to Angus the XIII power armor.
I always thought "Universe on Fire" was sang by Zargothrax, not Angus McFife XIII
34:52 ralathor 38b IS ralathor prime. When 38b goes back to revealed that knowledge to the first Angus in the first album that was always him. If anyone is confused google "Jin Particle" cuz that what this is.
Very informative!!
Glad it was helpful!
22:56 Legit thought you were gonna sing the whole part lol
It has been quite hilarious attempting to explain the lore to my 5 year old daughter who loves Gloryhammer
I had always thought Universe on Fire was from Zargothrax's point of view. From the themes to the fact that the background picture in the video is one of Zargothrax. I could definitely be wrong but that's how I alwys interpreted it.
Well, according to the booklet (which came with the CDs), it is from both Angus and Zargothrax’ perspectives. I certainly thought it was only Zargothrax too, but yeah I was wrong.
@@hyperdeluxeyt Interesting. Never bought the CDs because I don't even have anything to play a CD on and I already have some cute coasters. That makes a lot of sense.
Do one for Twilight Force
Ralathor timeline is confusing, it's kind of like a D&D characters backstory were the world has enterdimensional travel
Could you do a video on Angus McSix? Would love to see the lore there.
I have to tell you I got into this music I never heard anything from this band I just read one title 13 years ago the undead unicorns of Dundee that's what sold me and I have been hooked ever since before that I never heard their music and when I try to explain to people they just look at me and I say it's just a long story cuz I'm going to pass this on to my friends LOL this is great thank you I am having a bad day today you just cheered me up❤❤❤❤ my car it's called the green dragon and every summer she comes out and the song that she gets on the road too is the one on the first CD Magic Dragon
mp
incredible video!
You can't just blow a hole into the surface of mars 13:38
You know, that summoning circle looks an awful lot like a D20
I wonder if the whole story line was inspired by a DnD game
Certainly seems like either DnD or 40k inspired.
you ready to update this lol
03:00 - bug in time line 20AD builds a city then 2AD which is before Zah..Zac..Zagrophax.... make a pact to take revenge which makes no sense so a I undestand correct order is 2 AD Dundax build a city and 18 years later Zagphax is making a pact to takes revenge because his village is destroyed
Ah, I’m not sure how I missed that. That’s actually meant to be 0AD, because it is the year Dundee was built! How silly I am…
@@hyperdeluxeyt no problem bugs happens at any work - its a QA job to find them )
Very good!
np
Thanks!
im ngl, I just asumed this whole thing was about fighting evil space wizards. I didn't realise there was more than that lol.
My thoughts about the magic dragon/ancestral laserdragon is that the 'dragon' was always a dragon shaped starship
I can definitely picture an Alestorm / Gloryhammer crossover
The schizophrenic classmate telling me what happened in his commute.
It always confused me how in apocalypse 1992 they continue to chant “chaos will triumph this day” i figure whatever side the hootsman is on is the correct side so when he detonates his heart to save the galaxy destroying earth and dundee i reckon its either to defeat zargothraxs army or to destroy a corrupt dundee
WrestleMania 40K, live from Tannadice. King of California, Hollywood Hootsman vs Frostbite Orcking, Jormun Gandr. The very fate of humanity hangs in the balance. Double-down, the ref begins to count...
"GET TO THE CHOPPA!"
"Good God almighty, that's the Gubernator's music!"
"But whose side is he on?"
nice vid
Thank you! :D
you forgot about the angus mcsix album
We seriously need more dumb fun stuff in the world, and stuff like Gloryhammer should be more widely know because it's exactly that, sure, it has coherency, but just because something is dumb, doesn't mean it's stupid.
You mean entertaining?)
THANK YOU
hello all
There were a lot of mistakes in the description of Apocalypse 1992 content - mainly about who und where is actually fighting....
Okay, I said in the beginning I tried my best to piece it together, so I apologise in not being a 100% correct 👍
Album 4 definitely felt like a really weird direction to take the story in. Dedicating an entire album to this parallel reality ending of album 1 with another Angus and another zargothrax after the killer finale of 3 honestly really cheapens it. And the *literal* deus ex machina at the end where Alien gods descend, decide everyone but Angus dies instantly, and then take him in to join them? At least the Hootsman of album 3 was an actual pre-established and powered up ally coming to the rescue, not just what amounts to the reverse of "then they died" but as the actual climax. Just kind of irks me.
Yea for sure, I think it’s definitely the weakest album in terms of lore and story due to the fact it takes such a strange path. I hope they somehow link back into the main timeline rather than continuing with this parallel universe stuff. But I suppose it’s hard because Zargothrax is frozen after the first album so there wouldn’t be any real villain ? I have no idea, Chris Bowes can figure it out, I have faith..
@@hyperdeluxeyt They probably also wanted a excuse to take it a bit elsewhere with Angus to have the new guy be more distinctive than wedged between the old albums.
Sabaton or Powerwolf please next!!!!!
I would be interested in doing this, however, I’m not too sure how to do it as there is no direct story in their discography (except Carolus Rex) so would you rather an album story? Or just cover the songs in their discography. Thanks
@@hyperdeluxeyt whichever is ok
15:08 alright who torrented Revenge of the Sith?
Uhhhhhh not me 😁👍
ok but where do mighty wings fit into all of this
The singles (mighty wings and fly away) don't really fit in the storyline, they are just on the side i think
Mighty wings is a cover of a Cheap Tricks song which was originally made for Top Gun
I realize that but I wanted to see some insane explanation of how it's actually cannot
@@HEXoslav maybe it’s about the robot prince of autchertool 🤔
Mind if i send this to my buddy who does reaction videos? I've been looking for something to introduce him to it.
Yea of course I don’t mind! If he does react, can you please make sure to credit me in the description, otherwise no worries!
@@hyperdeluxeyt he usually does, and he has such a back log it might be awhile, but I'll be sure to send this his way!
There are some errors here an there but overall it's a good summary for anyone interested in keeping up the lore.
Though the next album will probably add nothing to the lore going by the name alone
Yes I think it’s Casino Dundee?
I listen to the songs mention here and FOR ME its easy to learn how to say the place names like... for example i hear him say ACKnasheen
and then you factor in angus mcsix and it's all even more confusing xd
May Angus McSix lives long and prospers

The video is great, but you leave in so much unneeded stuff and un-polished lines
Thank you for your feedback! This is my first time creating long form content so I am quite unfamiliar with many things, so I do apologise with some of the hiccups throughout the video. I will be trying to improve this as I go on. Thank you!
In my opinion, just the unpolished lines should be removed. They can be left in occasionally for comedic effect though (like mispronouncing strathclyde). I really liked the information overload.
Okay but where does On the Wings of a Rainbow fit into all of this?
I only recently discovered that song, but think all the bonus tracks aren’t actually canonical. At least that’s what I read on reddit
@@hyperdeluxeyt So does that mean that the National Anthem of Unst is not canonically just a description of the Hootsman then?
Zagothrax did nothing wrong.
zargothrax did nothing wrong
Why are there built-in subtitles?
Zargothrax did nothing wrong
isnt it heavy metal?
No
yes it is idiot@@admagic5071
Power Metal, close cousin
What? they really went off the rails in the last album; As if timeskips of a thousand years and dimension hopping wasn't enough, now they added even more time travel and dimensions? unreal. Not bad, but now the lore is even more of a mess. even with this video it's still barely coherent.
Yes, I had a hard time in understanding it. I’m sorry if my explanation wasn’t good.
@@hyperdeluxeyt I think glory hammers lore is just impossible to be clear
I mean, they're a band, not a writter. We're here for the music; the lore is a bonus, not the focus of the work.
@@caiovieira2168 ? Relevance? I didn't complain about the music, nor state that the lore is the main focus. It's not. I just like figuring it out and mentioned how it's impossible to comprehend properly.
@@maxime2445 Dude, it's not meant to be taken seriously. They're basically a parody band. Whole thing is one big joke.
