Elk in the Great Smoky Mountains, Wildlife Scenes

Great Smoky Mountains National Park has an incredible area outside the Oconaluftee Visitor Center for viewing the local Elk residents. During the mornings and evenings they will come out from the trees to graze and play. They may also walk in the parking lots and through the historic buildings in the area, so please be careful and keep a safe distance if you visit.
Please enjoy these few minutes of video I captured during my previous visit to the park in October 2024. I love to watch the personalities of all the different elk and to see how it differs in the varying ages. The young elk are much more shy and stay close to mom or their friends, while the older males are more protective and even aggressive during the mating season. This is my first attempt at recording video of wildlife and I hope to do more in the future.
