thats looks like two mile bay...i use to swim there all the time when i was livn there..lived on marshall ave...went to waipahihi school...but that was back in 1990....but stil love going back there to see the whanau
Great video, great idea - however it will never get there when the mayor of the town is featured in a radio add promoting Taupo, not only trying to pronounce it and cocking it up but reverts back to using the towelpo version at the end. To make it worse even the voice over guy uses towelpo. The best way to promote something is continuity and unity in promoting the message. Not a good look!
As a seventh-generation New Zealander, tourists should be aware that many places have both a Maori and a Pakeha (white) pronunciation. The pronunciation they're using in this video is the Maori one. If you're a tourist, using the Maori pronunciation around Pakeha is likely to get you odd looks and a reputation as being pretentious or even arrogant.

Just because one uses a Pakeha pronunciation, it doesn't make it right.
@@lilbitchkim the Pakeha pronunciation is right for Pakeha, the Maori pronunciation is right for Maori
*sigh
It's pretentious to speak Maori?
@@phineasburke2129 if you're not Maori ... it's like someone speaking English but insisting on pronouncing Paris as "paREE"
