- The Complete 20min Centering Prayer by Fr. Thomas Keating (including introduction to the method with guidelines and ending with Fr. Keating reciting the Lord’s Prayer)
The 4 Guidelines of Centering Prayer:
1. Choose a sacred word as the symbol of your intention to consent to God’s presence and action within.
2. Sitting comfortably and with eyes closed, settle briefly and silently introduce the sacred word as the symbol of your consent to God’s presence and action within.
3. When engaged with your thoughts*, return ever-so-gently to the sacred word.
4. At the end of the prayer period remain in silence with eyes closed for a couple of minutes.
(*thoughts include body sensations, feelings, images, and reflections)

The first time I "tasted" this prayer, I knew I was home. so grateful to Fr. Thomas Keating for teaching us this prayer.

Thank you so much for this beautiful form of prayer. I used to practice this when I was in college . A very holy nun taught me this prayer and I used to practice this . Then I got caught up with life , marriage and kids and somewhere down the line I completely forgot about this form of prayer. I’m glad I found your site and I’m going to get back to this beautiful form of prayer. This prayer is simply so magical

Ekk the ad is startling mid meditation. Had to stop video and start over with phone timer.

I've been using this particular video for my CP at home. I haven't used it in a few years and I used the video today. Eyes closed, saying my word and all of a sudden some woman's voice is shilling something!!! It came in at about 12 minutes. Im not sure if this was a fluke. I'm going to exit and start it over. I'll make a comment about if it happens again or not. I jumped out of it.
It’s an advertisement. It happened to me also. I’ll have to go back to using the video of Keating at Folsom prison. That one has no ads. Thanks!
