My buddy passed away in May and we use to listen to senses fail in High school together. Last December he stopped by and we went driving around and talking about the old days. This song came on and we rocked tf out like old times. At his funeral after party this was the theme song and everytime it pops up I cry now. Music isn’t just words that sounds good. Greetings 2009 self from 2023. Geeze this song takes me back.. the pop/punk scene from the mid/late 2000s was such a golden age.
The guitarist was friends with my friend in high school. I was one of the first people who got their BURNT CD with their music. WISH I still had that. Ugh man. Great band.

Rap and pop have completely taken over these days. Im fine with both genres but damn it straight up killed rock and metal in the mainstream.

when i first heard this song in 2008. i was a confused christian. i always connected to this song on a deep level, even then. it scared me. about 3 years ago i became an atheist after certain experiences and questioning my indoctrinated thoughts. don't be afraid to be who you are for fear of some punishment. we all deserve to be free. it's all bullshit anyway. live free.

I know this band for Emily Is Away Too, and I LOVE IT LOUD
I like the clean guitars in the verse, very good layering, good guitar work overall.
I think that this song is about pretending to be somebody. And then you start to believe that you're really that person. So in a sense, you're "stuck in a coma". One day, you'll wake up and realize you made up everything.
I realized this after i found out what i was doing wasnt good.
But yeah, i like how buddy dances in the bridge section :)

The video makes perfect sense . A guy who didn't take his grades seriously, who fell in love with a girl. He never had the guts to ask out he kept passing love letters to his friends hopeing he would give them to her because he feared being rejected he made up a fake relationship with her that never happened. He attended funerals of fake friend's from High School that he never really knew . He kept dreaming he was her boyfriend and the people from High School were his friends that he never really knew . Someday i'll wake up and realize that i made up everything fake vision's from his past .

I know right? I don't get it either. I had the pleasure of playing the emo-tutor student in this video and I'm tellin you once the video went public on TH-cam, after a very short run, it had nearly 2 million views, maybe more! I was very proud of that feat, as not even global icons--such as my personal favorite artist Janet Jackson--were consistently pulling those kinds of numbers at the time. This band, and the song/video, was clearly resonating with a large and vocal audience. Then, if I remember correctly, at one point in late 2007, TH-cam changed video players and the viewing statistics RESET. I was so bummed for Senses Fail and fans like us who are now seeing the numbers don't add up. Wack.
