While I really hope we get Roki, this team is set up to do amazing things regardless, and I’m so glad we get to see it. Not just *still* champs, but *always* champs!
Wow, Anthony, thx for the info on the Padres' TV deal mess. It makes me appreciate even more the Dodgers' TV deal. And the ability of Andrew Friedman to leverage that money into a consistently great team.
Fun convos guys. regardless if they land Roki, I dont think Tanner Scott is an option unless its a short term deal. Not like Freidman to do big money long term contracts to relievers. and if no Roki, think they stand pat on the SP and reassess at the deadline. There is a possibility that if too many guys get healthy they might have to make a trade. May, Kershaw, Gonsolin due back at some point. Gong to be a fun season, cant wait to see the new Dodgers Snell, Conforto, Kim, etc.
(DISCLAIMER: I'm spitballing below. This is not a prediction, I have no insider knowledge.) The Padres will have to pull in Darvish _and_ likely put together a helluva package to get Sasaki. And even then they have the specter of the owner family lawsuit hanging over them, which they'll have to convince Sasaki is no big deal. The fact that they're finalists is good for the Padres, but not as good a position as they would like to be. But then, they'll probably fight harder for Sasaki because they need him more than the Dodgers need another starting pitcher. Darvish doesn't strike me as the guy who pulls in people, the way Shohei does. He could easily be the cultural leader of the Padres if he so chooses so he wouldn't be squatting on the mound like "Hey guys can we just play ball" when Manny starts talking trash, but instead he lets Machado and Tatis do the influencing. So the Padres could be at a disadvantage: If Sasaki joins the Padres, he gets to be with his mentor and WBC teammate, and the uncertainty of a postseason choke and possible ownership/venue change with that lawsuit. If he joins the Dodgers, he not only gets to be with fellow pitchers and WBC teammates Ohtani and Yamamoto, he gets to meet Betts, Freeman, Kersh, Teo, and Tanks, he gets access to one of the best farm systems in the world, and if he comes in clutch, he could get a sweet sponsorship deal and print money the way Ohtani does.
Kirby Yates will be 38. We already have an older back end BP. Risky. Tanner at 30 for me. Just get craative on that contract and close the deal. Thanks Guys !
If you sign somewhere else you'll be on some signs and merchandise in Japan. If you sign with the Dodgers, the 3 Japanese pitchers will be on every sign and every piece of merchandise.
Why would that have any influence what so ever? People who ask that question have no idea how big LA is and probably think Portland and Seattle both were completely burned to the ground in 2020! Every city large or small will have some kind of natural disaster at some time or other.
The Dodgers, as noted on the show, have lost their Top 3 commitments to other teams. Serrano - Twins Morrell - Pirates Patiño - White Sox The Bluejays and Padres have reportedly more BA Top 100 IFA still linked to them. The only guy still linked to them is Venezuelan CA Francisco Rivero (#64).

Love the show fellas. Anthony Jeff Scotty great work. You guys rock!!!

59:53 “If Roki Sasaki sa-signs” 😂

55:24 Heck yeah Jeff! I was so glad when they brought him back. He was so good for this team.
1:08:45 I’ve always thought that Scott looked like Trea Turner… 🤔
I've never seen Trey with a mullet, and Scottie is proud of his......LOL!

I can’t unsee Anthony looking like a mixture of The Rock and Flaherty 😂
Didn't the Padres have to take a loan to make payroll recently?
Does hecwant to spend 6 years on a team who's biggest target is their division rivals, or a team who's biggest target is a World Championship?
Ikr? If he wants to win we all know where he’s going.

Mrs. Ohtani may have something to say about any naming rights. I wouldn't want to get on her bad side
Didn't the ownership drama expose they even want to relocate?
Yep, part of the San Diego chaos going on is one owner has claimed the other owners want to sell the team and/or relocate!
RP
If not Tanner Scott, how do you feel about RH Paul Sewald, RH David Robertson, or the aforementioned RH Kirby Yates.
Padres players are advising Sasaki to join the Dodgers 😅😂
Reducing their payroll to 170 mil...they won't be top tier signers and they aren't top tier developers. 2024 was the Padres last best hope.
They are just playing games. Dodgers all the way
What is happening with Julio Urias?
He's joined up with Bauer and is in talks to start a fight club............women only!
Jeff,
Do you think the Dodgers starting the season in Japan helps or hurts their chances with Roki?
I can’t imagine why it would hurt, if anything it helps.
The only reason the Padres are in on the Asakimdeal is cause he is cheap! If he was 200-300 they would not be able to afford him!
Dodgers to trade for Clasé?
And why Cleveland will trade a player under a cheap contract?
MAYBE YOU CAN ANSWER THIS ON ANOTHER SHOW BUT WOULD THE CURRENT FIRES IN LA INFLUENCE SASAKI'S CHOICE?
Why would that have any influence what so ever? People who ask that question have no idea how big LA is and probably think Portland and Seattle both were completely burned to the ground in 2020! Every city large or small will have some kind of natural disaster at some time or other.

We ONLY SIGN BLAKE AND THE KOREAN GUY. WE NEED TO SIGN ROKI!!
Dang click bait every video….. says big updates from roki every video….. all they did was meet with roki a 2nd time…
To be fair - the fact that the dodgers are going last and can bring their superstars is big news - they should be able to lock it down
You must have gotten this site confused with Sports Illustrated, that's where the real click bait lives!
