Though they had probably been there for many hundreds of years, back in 2000, it was suddenly realised that huge Blue Fin Tuna were running up the west coast of Ireland very close in to the shore, and that through a process of trial and error, they could in fact be caught on rod and line there. Adrian Molloy eventually took the record up to 968 pounds. The other key player in all of this was Downings charter skipper Michael McVeigh who charts the rise and fall of Tuna fishing for us here off the Donegal coast.
