I think it would take a gut renovation to bring this property up to standard. A conservative estimate for that in my honest opinion would be at least 60k. That said, I thoroughly enjoy your channel and content. I'm a retired 50+ Black American artist who is strongly considering moving to Italy soon. I speak, read, and write Italian extremely well as I began studying it more than 30 years ago given my interest, love and knowledge of Italian art and its history. Keep up the phenomenal work! Tantissime grazie ed alla la prossima volta, ciao.
@@Karl__Pierre I’m in Paris France but that makes sense, labour is very expensive here. l adore Sicily (I’ll probably live there one day) and love the way you’re hyping up this little town. nice channel and spirit. 👍
Keep in mind these are 300 -400 years + old houses!! The whole house is original construction materials from 1700s 🤣 So you get a house basically for free but 25k to get it where you can live in ??? No way !! It would cost you at least 4 times more to get it where is ok . Plus it all depends where is located . Some areas are so remote that what exactly you going to do with it after you put 100 K in it ? 😊
@@Karl__Pierre I am from Europe . I don’t know the exact amount that can take to get this house livable but 25k is way to low . The houses in Italy are nothing like US housing. It takes a totally different approach and the unknowns are way different. Unless you have done this many times and have a great experience with it I wouid be prepared to pay a lot more to have it livable.
If it's too good to be true it is. First, Italy has a big unemployment rate, plus property tax in residence is up to .09% if a second home your property tax is 9%. So if you fix these broken down homes you pay.😢
@@Karl__Pierre Aha, thanks for the clarity and it makes good sense. Great risk vs. reward venture, you certainly will have a tougher time do this at the same scale even in the outlying areas of metropolitan cities in the western states in USA.

Just done a test. Result ENTP Bizarrely I have been interested in these “$1” houses for years now. This is odd that you have recently made a video on this. Coming to the end of renovating my own house.
Thats a time and money pit, no one will work on it. Finding laborers is the problem there. I see the sentimentality trap of saving things with character and old world charm but most of these houses need to be demolished not restored. The ones that can be saved should be but that is a nightmare no one should fall into.
For sure. and will have to do some of the work yourself. Handyman special. But if you see the 30k house Im selling its an easy choice to buy the house for 30k vs this project house.
I’d assume that is 80sqm?.. so 1000 a sqm. So 80k, with next door in same condition. So buying a headache and money pit In area with little to no infrastructure or local builder. Run away
There’s places like this for $1 in north STL. Loving this series
I'm coming !!!!!
haahahahahah
Far more dangerous in stl as well ijs
@@PrinceDomG for sure
Love the possibilities. What’s the timeline look like for renovations in a smaller village. More than a year?
No all depends on budget and season. Something like this maybe 4-5 months if a solid team is committed

I don't think 60k it's not that large I think 25k with doing work as well it can be done. At 60k it doesn't make sense
@@Karl__Pierre 25k seems really cheap for all there is to do …
@laurence apitz labor is alot less there than in the States

I would buy a house in italy but where do I find a job in Italy? as a foreigner
You'll have to start a business or get a remote job
This is a great video. If you have the $30k-$40k this could be a nice reno. Thanks Karl.
youre welcome. Yeah this is for someone who wants a project and doesnt care about the spend
Is this still on market?
Any sites to find properties like this in Italy
Only one I know is mine. What exactly are you looking for. Location, size, budget. www.cheaphousesinitaly.com
Is there a property next door? because then we would be interested in buying 2 and joining them. My cousin did that in Salemi
Would have to check and get back to you.
Do they have homes like this on the mainland? Namely in the Napoli, Positano, Amalfi coast area?
No but I know someone who does in Calabria just south of Amalfi and a fraction of the price.
@@Karl__Pierre do they have a website or any sort of media account I can check out? Appreciate you Karl, keep up the great work 👍

Great channel, makes the dream of owning a EU zone Dream home within reach. Why isn’t this a €1 property, with all the refurbishment it requires.
It is, but we are marketing it at 5000 to cover the closing costs and construction plan/estimates. At $5000, that's the all-in costs
