- An original documentary made by Charlie Overman, a student at our high school. Special thanks to all the people involved in this film. This is an Official Selection of the 2019 All American High School Film Festival.
Love the shout-out for SW VA. My dad was born and raised in Nora, VA near Dante. My aunt is a Stanley.
On a personal note. I'm a bi-racial Canadian who was never exposed to Bluegrass as a kid. I was in my late 40's when I was introduced to the music. We have a small BG community here but I play guitar and mandolin for two local groups. I listen to all genres but I'm sure glad I discovered this great music.
Kentucky girl here i live in Florida but will always be Kentucky girl and videos like this feed my soul. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to another great video in the future 😀
It baffles me that there’s not more views on this video
Thank you. Charlie did an amazing job on this. Feel free to share it! :-)
@@stationstudios3803 this just came up in my TH-cam feed today. Good stuff!! Is Charlie related to Will by any chance? I remember Will’s son being in a BG band. Maybe it’s just a coincidence.
I'm aware of Will, but no relation as far as I know haha@@jeloeb
Bluegrass sung from the heart through the nose. 😂😂😂
I thaught I was good enought not to be bought . May be next months ;)
A documentary on the "High Lonesome Sound" and no mention of Mr High Lonesome Sound hi self Roscoe Holcolmb? (Sp?)
I'm a big fan and well aware of Roscoe, though I'd categorize him more so as old-time/traditional Kentucky mountain music. Big difference in banjo styles between that old traditional stuff and bluegrass; big enough of a difference at least. That said, perhaps I ought to have mentioned him, or perhaps more aptly Bill, but I was only interviewing folks I knew personally about their own experiences and influences.
@charlieoverman9540 yeah, true. I do prefer the old style mountain music personally. Great music all around though. Good video, I wasn't putting it down at all. I just hadn't seen many videos on the "high lonesome sound", and roscoe was dubbed the high lonesome sound guru practically.
ah yeah I agree! Ah no worries at all, I didn't think you were. Thanks for watching buddy@@Nazareth434
