    Dear Gus, I've been a Demons fan since 1968. Seen a lot through the years, but a player like you will always be remembered. To me, you're up there with Barassi, Flower, Stynes, and Gawny. I consider myself lucky to have seen you play. Thank you for everything.

    Being forced to retire at 28 while in your prime must be a sickening feeling for Gus.
    Thanks for all you’ve done for the club and wish you well for the future

    Makes that mark back with the flight in the granny even more unbelievable. So courageous on the field, and now so courageous to put his health and his future first.

    Oh Gus, it can be a cruel game this footy caper. Congratulations on a great career with the Dees. You never left us questioning your devotion, be it out on the field or off it. Whether it was racking up possessions or doing podcasts with Gawny, you continually brought Althletism, intelligence and humour to everything you did. Well done young man, you should be proud of the legacy you have left with the Demons family. Onward and upward for the future as i am sure your story has many great chapters to be written. Cheers Mate.

    God my heart breaks for this quality human. Being a good player is hard, being a good player and an even better human is very rare. Gus is that. What a decision he has made. His children will thank him. While it’s raw, it’s sad and it ducks being a Melbourne player of such quality be caught short, I think the strength and courage is so incredible. Well done Gus. You are a champion and you are setting a path for the next people to come through to make sure that this is taken seriously. This will save lives! Well done.

    That was really tough to watch. Having been a dedicated follower of Melbourne for nearly four decades, I want to express my gratitude, Gus, for your remarkable contributions to the club and the exemplary way you conducted yourself on the field. The third quarter of the 21 Grand Final will forever remain ingrained in my memory as one of the most unforgettable moments in Melbourne football club history. It wasn't just about skill; it was about your unwavering commitment to the team, demonstrated by your willingness to put your body on the line and rally us back into contention that day. You exemplified true leadership when it was needed most. I trust that your legacy, both in your style of play and your character, will be cherished and honored by the players and staff at the MFC for years to come. Wishing you all the best for your future endeavors.

    Max is probably shattered.
    Have you thought about doing what Hodgey is doing, cos of your experience with Guss and Gawny, and you got a mouth on ya. It would add valuable experience to any call, and perspective on concussions others don't have.
    A coaching Job at Melbourne would also allow the fairytale to continue. Just a thought...
    Handled like cookie dough, molded into the shape of a soldier:)
    Good luck with the next chapter...

    The entire Melbourne team better get payback when they face Collingwood next. That selfish player deliberately put his shoulder in and took one of your best players out permanently. If the league wouldn't do anything then you lot better.

    • @OwlJohlson
      @OwlJohlson 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh fuck up you idiot, by that logic Collingwood players should go after Lincoln Mcarthy for almost retiring Nathan Murphy.. 1 more concussion and he is done.
      Brayshaw, Mcartin etc are sad stories
      But do Melbourne go after every other bloke who concussed Brayshaw? SMH it’s a contact sport where these players put their body on the line fully aware of the consequences while getting paid a fuck ton.
      You absolute flog, sad unfortunate story like this and you say shit like that.
      Shows the type of person you are, absolute wanker mate.

    • @OwlJohlson
      @OwlJohlson 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re a flog mate, stop starting shit that was an accident.
      It’s a contact sport with some unfortunate outcomes.
      Should Melbourne go after every bloke that gave Brayshaw a concussion? Should Sydney and St Kilda go after everyone that gave Mcartin concussions? Should Collingwood go after everyone that has given Nathan Murphy concussions? 1 mind you was a legit punch to the head by Rioli and another was a punch by that St Kilda dude.
      Go look at Brayshaws other concussions from actual dog shots, the final one was a legit accident going to smother a ball at full speed.
      Just shut up you muppet, sad story like this and you say shit like that. Dumb as bogan skin rat

      @michaelhehir8116 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @shannonbarron7302 You’re indicative of most of the Melbourne supporters and coach’s hysterical and unhinged response to this incident. Both the MR and tribunal found there were no grounds to sustain the charge in spite of the AFL’s desperate attempts to string Maynard up. The truth of the matter which no one is prepared to admit is that Brayshaw should have retired long ago. If you have a predisposition to concussion maybe you shouldn’t be playing a contact sport. He owes a duty of care to himself you can’t put it all on the opposition.
