I try my best to be kind no matter what. The vast, vast majority of the time the only thing I want in return is to see them happy, to see them smile. Even if I don’t achieve that, I still feel good for helping them.
I try to be kind for no reason as much as I can. I love it when I do get acknowledged for it, but otherwise I just like knowing I made someone else's day better or easier :)

Or is there an ulterior motive of some sort? Are you doing it for a transactional reason? And even if there is a motive or a reason, those reasons could vary from benign to nefarious.
