      ​@@John-qn2fd step synchronisation is the most common thing among humans. It happens when I walk with my wife, my buddies, my siblings and parents, etc. Anyone really close.
      My wife and I first thought it's so romantic and cute that it happens to us until we started noticing that it happens with the other aforementioned groups too (also for her with her friends/family), and we observed it around us when we walk in the city.
      So maybe here in the marathon could have also other reasons, but it is so common and normal that it objectively isn't special.

      Sadly the olympics since added a rule that means you can not assist another athlete as occurred with the Brownlee brothers - they deemed it unsportsmanlike, which I guess I understand in a way

    That comment, "be kind for no reason" speaks volumes. Oftentimes, people are kind because they expect some sort of reward or recognition for being kind. For so many of us, we can't be kind for the sake of being kind. For so many people, there is no kindness out of the goodness of their hearts.

      I try my best to be kind no matter what. The vast, vast majority of the time the only thing I want in return is to see them happy, to see them smile. Even if I don’t achieve that, I still feel good for helping them.

      If you're being kind with the expectation of a reward or recognition, are you really truly being kind? The question should be, are you being kind for altruistic reasons? Or is there an ulterior motive of some sort? Are you doing it for a transactional reason? And even if there is a motive or a reason, those reasons could vary from benign to nefarious.
