What if after all that work you put in to getting to love yourself, you open up, and it's not enough? I'm sure just thinking about this happening would crush you. One solution to this is something you eluded to in 12:22-12:24. I'm not saying you need to tell your self that your perfect and there is nothing wrong with you but you need to believe and tell yourself that you would be an enrichment to someones life and you have a lot offer someone, that is valuable and meaningful. I relate to this :( The thought of being vulnerable and being seen as pathetic or not good enough terrifies the shit out of me. Its because i grew up with a judgemental narcissistic parent so its hard to stop the cycle of thinking this way because it was embedded in me at a young age. Hearing Kennedy talk about her sexuality was literally me when I was her age. I thought I was asexual for a time but could never label myself because it just scared me so much. But then college came and I started having relationships that were so different from my high school relationships (which were very not serious and always ended after two months every time because I always pushed them away). I’ve been in a relationship now for a year and when I was 18 (hell, even last year when I was only 22) I never would have imagined this life I have now. For Kennedy, it could be asexuality or it could be just a matter of time before relationships just start to click for her. I hope she figures it out, because it’ll make her so much happier.
I mean asexuality is just sexual attraction, she can be asexual but still have a romantic attraction to someone. Maybe she just haven't found that romantic attraction yet or she could be aromantic too. Or she could not be asexual and just haven't found the one. So many possibilities lol

I fell in love at 21 for the first time and before that I thought I had a form of antisocial personality disorder... because not only did I never have emotions towards someone but I couldn’t care less if someone felt that way about me. When the right person falls into your life, you’ll know. You will never get tired of them. You’ll always want to be around them. Always want to talk to them. When they express affection towards you, you won’t run away and will want more of it. If you never feel this way it’s possible you’re asexual or aromantic or both! Which is totally normal. As far as sexuality as far as bi/straight/gay etc.... you don’t need to have a label. Like at all. I have and would date a girl. I’ve dated men. But I think that if someone’s mind appeals to me, thats it. I don’t call myself pan/gay/bi anything. As dumb as it sounds I hate labels, its an impulse by human nature and completely unnecessary.

I have never related so much to a person until now. I'm 24 and having to deal with anxiety, stress, overthinking, relationships etc etc sucks in every day life. I'm a total introvert and I am okay with being like that which I wouldn't be years ago. Being a total extrovert would be so tiring for me and I don't have the energy haha. Thank you for always being honest and open where you want to be. Not everyone is the same and that's okay. If us humans were all the same than it would be boring and a weird world. Some of have to accept our battles. It's a strugle but we overcome it :). Keep being you and personal growth will always improve
this is literally me. i’d say i’m probably ambiverted. i love spending time with people but eventually my mental battery runs out lol and i definitely feel most comfortable by myself in my home. my family tries to convince me that this is bad but it makes me feel safe, and it’s like an escape from the world. i try my best to get out of comfort zones, but it’s difficult for me and so mentally exhausting. i don’t have a problem with staying in that comfort zone, but i’m working on it :) we are in this together!

There is a "branch" on the aromantic spectrum where you want romance in media or in theory, but not in real life when it comes down to experiencing it yourself. I feel this way a LOT and consider myself pretty aro. I definitely fluxuate on the aspectrum and my feelings change day to day. Not labeling you AT ALL because there are infinite ways to feel, but what you said really resonated with me!

I used to have insecurities too (still do but not as many) but I read somewhere that if you faked living the reality that you want then it'll eventually become true. So pretending that I'm perfect even though I'm not has really helped me to come out of my shell. I realized that even if I were the most prettiest girl in the world, I would still have insecurities because it's in my head. And also even if you're deemed beautiful now, the next year you may not be because beauty trends are always changing. kennedy, you remind me a lot of myself when i was younger (i'm 23 if it matters). i basically spent my teenage years shutting myself off from the world and using tv shows and books as a coping mechanism. tv shows in particular created a sort of idealized version of what the perfect boyfriend and my relationship with him should be like, that nobody in real life could compare to. just like you, i never even crushed on real life people because of the unrealistic standard i set BY MYSELF. people would always act surprised that i didn't have a boyfriend and that i had never had one. whenever someone showed interest in me i didn't know how to act. i always panicked and pushed them away, then later i'd end up regretting it when i felt all alone. i craved attention but also feared it. my advice would be to stop stressing so much about the boyfriend and just focus on learning how to be more social. this is the harsh truth - you need to socialize. i know it's very hard and draining for someone who is introverted but i can promise you that it's worth it and it gets easier. i look back and regret all the years i wasted alone in my room instead of going outside, experiencing things, making memories, etc. nobody says you need to party all the time or anything but just PHYSICALLY being outside increases your chances of meeting someone. that someone isn't going to just knock on your door, you need to put yourself out there. what helped me personally was working a job that kind of forced me to be more social, for better or worse. it was very stressful at first but later i relaxed and learned how to be more comfortable around people. simply changing my attitude made interacting with people much easier because people can sense your attitude. i noticed that sometimes for girls being shy and socially awkward can make you seem kind of stand-offish and maybe even mean (the prettier you are the worse the effect is), whereas being laid back and friendly makes you more approachable. i've noticed that i get more complimented and hit on when i'm in a good mood. so i guess my final advice is: focus on yourself, get out, make friends, don't stress it. you're bound to meet someone. for me it happened when i least expected it.

It's a good and "safe" way to socialize because there's a purpose and activities for you to do with people. I feel like that structured environment kinda cuts down on the anxiety and scariness of meeting people out somewhere where you have to think of things to do and say. Hopefully that makes sense! Plus, Kennedy loves kitties so she'll also be doing a good deed which is really fulfilling emotionally. It'd be a win-win-win really :)

The whole crush situation Kennedy described was me up until the age of 20. I genuinely thought I was broken because of it and it caused me a lot of loneliness, so I can only imagine how Kennedy is feeling. I had never had feelings for anyone before turning 20, or rather any feelings that I wanted to act on. I warned the guy that I'd panic and run the minute he showed too much interest like I'd done with literally everyone else and... It just never happened. 3 years later and it still hasn't. I firmly believe that there is too much pressure and too many rules that we impose on ourselves and others... when we should just be able to go with the flow. There aren't any strict rules or deadlines for this sort of thing and I hope Kennedy knows there's nothing wrong with her.

It could also be ADHD. In my own life, the majority of lithromantics I know either have severe ADHD or avoidant attachment issues.

Hearing Kennedy talk about her sexuality was literally me when I was her age. I thought I was asexual for a time but could never label myself because it just scared me so much. But then college came and I started having relationships that were so different from my high school relationships (which were very not serious and always ended after two months every time because I always pushed them away). I’ve been in a relationship now for a year and when I was 18 (hell, even last year when I was only 22) I never would have imagined this life I have now. For Kennedy, it could be asexuality or it could be just a matter of time before relationships just start to click for her. I hope she figures it out, because it’ll make her so much happier.
I mean asexuality is just sexual attraction, she can be asexual but still have a romantic attraction to someone. Maybe she just haven't found that romantic attraction yet or she could be aromantic too. Or she could not be asexual and just haven't found the one. So many possibilities lol

I fell in love at 21 for the first time and before that I thought I had a form of antisocial personality disorder... because not only did I never have emotions towards someone but I couldn’t care less if someone felt that way about me. When the right person falls into your life, you’ll know. You will never get tired of them. You’ll always want to be around them. Always want to talk to them. When they express affection towards you, you won’t run away and will want more of it.
If you never feel this way it’s possible you’re asexual or aromantic or both! Which is totally normal.
As far as sexuality as far as bi/straight/gay etc.... you don’t need to have a label. Like at all. I have and would date a girl. I’ve dated men. I have never related so much to a person until now. I'm 24 and having to deal with anxiety, stress, overthinking, relationships etc etc sucks in every day life. I'm a total introvert and I am okay with being like that which I wouldn't be years ago. Being a total extrovert would be so tiring for me and I don't have the energy haha. Thank you for always being honest and open where you want to be. Not everyone is the same and that's okay. If us humans were all the same than it would be boring and a weird world. Some of have to accept our battles. It's a strugle but we overcome it :). Keep being you and personal growth will always improve
this is literally me. i’d say i’m probably ambiverted. i love spending time with people but eventually my mental battery runs out lol and i definitely feel most comfortable by myself in my home. my family tries to convince me that this is bad but it makes me feel safe, and it’s like an escape from the world. i try my best to get out of comfort zones, but it’s difficult for me and so mentally exhausting. i don’t have a problem with staying in that comfort zone, but i’m working on it :) we are in this together!

kennedy, you remind me a lot of myself when i was younger (i'm 23 if it matters). i basically spent my teenage years shutting myself off from the world and using tv shows and books as a coping mechanism. tv shows in particular created a sort of idealized version of what the perfect boyfriend and my relationship with him should be like, that nobody in real life could compare to. just like you, i never even crushed on real life people because of the unrealistic standard i set BY MYSELF. people would always act surprised that i didn't have a boyfriend and that i had never had one. whenever someone showed interest in me i didn't know how to act. i always panicked and pushed them away, then later i'd end up regretting it when i felt all alone. i craved attention but also feared it. my advice would be to stop stressing so much about the boyfriend and just focus on learning how to be more social. this is the harsh truth - you need to socialize. i know it's very hard and draining for someone who is introverted but i can promise you that it's worth it and it gets easier. i look back and regret all the years i wasted alone in my room instead of going outside, experiencing things, making memories, etc. nobody says you need to party all the time or anything but just PHYSICALLY being outside increases your chances of meeting someone. that someone isn't going to just knock on your door, you need to put yourself out there. what helped me personally was working a job that kind of forced me to be more social, for better or worse. it was very stressful at first but later i relaxed and learned how to be more comfortable around people. simply changing my attitude made interacting with people much easier because people can sense your attitude. i noticed that sometimes for girls being shy and socially awkward can make you seem kind of stand-offish and maybe even mean (the prettier you are the worse the effect is), whereas being laid back and friendly makes you more approachable. i've noticed that i get more complimented and hit on when i'm in a good mood. so i guess my final advice is: focus on yourself, get out, make friends, don't stress it. you're bound to meet someone. for me it happened when i least expected it.

It's a good and "safe" way to socialize because there's a purpose and activities for you to do with people. I feel like that structured environment kinda cuts down on the anxiety and scariness of meeting people out somewhere where you have to think of things to do and say. Hopefully that makes sense! Plus, Kennedy loves kitties so she'll also be doing a good deed which is really fulfilling emotionally. It'd be a win-win-win really :)

Someone tell Kennedy there's a whole spectrum for asexuality. There's even partial asexuality. Which means you can be sexual but only after having deep emotional connections with somebody else, otherwise you can be lonely and still be perfectaly comfortable with that

The whole crush situation Kennedy described was me up until the age of 20. I genuinely thought I was broken because of it and it caused me a lot of loneliness, so I can only imagine how Kennedy is feeling. I had never had feelings for anyone before turning 20, or rather any feelings that I wanted to act on. I warned the guy that I'd panic and run the minute he showed too much interest like I'd done with literally everyone else and... It just never happened. 3 years later and it still hasn't.
I firmly believe that there is too much pressure and too many rules that we impose on ourselves and others... when we should just be able to go with the flow. There aren't any strict rules or deadlines for this sort of thing and I hope Kennedy knows there's nothing wrong with her.

I feel the same too. I've never been in love and I still don't know what my sexuality, and it's ok. I really apreciate the fact that she is able to speak about it and makes me feel like i'm not alone.
