They named me Kenneth Zane Beasley the Third
At age five I was adopted by a truck driver
    Became Buddy Marshall Stevens
Didn't much care for that, a number reasons
So I changed it to Buddy Wakefield
    My name Is Buddy Wakefield
I am part saint, part fraud
Being human has been a largely humiliating experience
I would say that it's been humbling
But I suspect humble people don't use that word
    They humble up, buttercup
We got ourselves some friendly names, don't we?
We got ourselves in a pickle, friends
    There are no stunt doubles
Performing the devastation in losing everything
Maybe we are losing everything on purpose
    There's a good chance I'm a bad person
    Trying to do something right
It turns out everyone is right
It turns out we are happening so fast, y'all
The whole world - so fast
    Yesterday I was 23
The day before that I was 9
And none of the soured relationships
Were worth my need to be right
Happiness - it's too far to fall
And you, my love, you are a skyscraper tabernacle
Mouthful of water, beautiful and too far to fall
But look at us take our tumble quick
Look at us take our lumps
Look, everybody's headed for the pass again
    To cut each other off
If my whole body and if your whole body
If every single one of our bodies got amputated right now
We would still have to deal with what's left of us
    Everything we ever ordered
The waiter who is very famous for telling stories
    To make people feel like
They feel better than they actually do
He strutted up to our table
A cocky lion walking straight into the mouth of a whale
And said “put it in God's hands”
I said “boy, we are God's hands"
"Stop standing like an apology you never meant to give
    Your context is unruly”
The waiter reached across my audacity
Evenly placed the silverware and then politely replied,
    “Sir you don't know me
You know a mistake I made
Now, who ordered the worst case scenario?”
    Maybe I did, maybe you
    Maybe on purpose
Until everyone in the whole world found out everything
We were ever terrified of being found out about
And no one was impressed with our nightmare air
It does not have an ego
Pay attention, then, when it enters and exits
Each one of us feels desire inside
That we can point to it on a map
Stop acting like you don't know know
Which direction your life is going
    It is hysterical, Los Angeles
Pretending to be something you're not
The loneliness is so goddamn blunt
Everything here on the ground is a trigger
Don't expect to be warned again
    You're a full-grown job phone
Though I have zero proof that any of us are adults
But there is still a voice inside of me that believes
We will make miracles of the laughter left between us
    Recently I discovered a word
That will fix everything I broke in our home
I rescued it from my body and passed it on
To people who will use it properly
You finally leaned over to my ear
Whispered so close to my throat it fogged up the knife
Spoke what you thought was my name
Until I could not remember where I came from
And patiently waited for me to explain
What in God's crippled name I am even talking about
So, I clinched your history and I pulled it out of repeat
And I loved you forever while we all sing these words
Like a choir of honest killers
Learning to leave the beast behind
if I go forth from this world without you
I did not forget to survive
    Both of us

This was a rollercoaster. Every single sentence was one honest truth after another. So visual. His actions and the way he expressed this art is another thing that made it more beautiful. I respect this man ✊🏼

Sometime early 2000s, a friend of mine, in Lobengula West Township, Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, passed me a CD and said, "you're the one that likes words and stuff, here's a CD I found with this guy who says a lot of stuff, maybe you might understand it."On that day, I was introduced to Buddy Wakefield. I am forever thankful for that CD.

I wish Button Poetry would put the words to the artists poems in the description. I am a very visual person and following along as the artist performs the poem is the best way for me to get everything out of the poem the writer has intended. (closed caption gets most words wrong)

"If my whole body and your whole body and every single one of our bodies got amputated right now, we'd still have to deal with what's left of us.".... "We are God's hands." Those parts of the poem hit me so hard no matter how many times I listen. "We are God's hands," yes exactly. I couldn't give you an absolute yes or no to the question "do you believe in God?" But I agree we are God's hands. There are so many who use belief in a deity to justify doing nothing. I think the people who originally encouraged leaving it up to god were just saying that to pacify the masses of people that were getting screwed over. We don't have hands for the sake of sitting around and waiting for someone or something else to solve our problems. We aren't infants we're people. People with the power to do a great deal of good if only we'd find the courage and to take meaningful action instead of just praying and fooling ourselves into believing that prayer replaces the real work involved. We are God's hands. Indeed we are and we should put ourselves to work repairing the planet we've so badly damaged.

He speaks about constant growing and changing and shedding old skins. Just when he thinks he has everything figured out, life throws another surprise to learn from. No matter how much we acknowledge the inevitability of these dumbfounding moments, they are so hard to recognize them as they are happening. My interpretation anyway.

And in the Bible there was an angel they took out a bunch of men the Jawbone of a donkey and then he even mentions the numbers 23 and 9. 23 chromosomes within the human DNA both male and female. As for the number 9 that is a definition of up. When weighed together on a scale of 6 and each and everyone of you 23456 scariest train of carbon-12 6 protons 6 neutrons and 6 electrons oh, I know... That's a lot of information but it's true about me you him us them the question is do you know the difference. Beautiful peace
