    Nice job, Sean. A lot of competition in floorstanders near this price point. Wonder how they stack up against Q Acoustics 3050i , ELAC Debut F6.2, or JBL A170's (to name 3) instead of bookshelves. Sometimes there's just no substitute for a little more bottom end sans sub-woofer. I think I'm ready to try one of the four in my system next.

    A solid summary of what these are about. I'd add that your point about stands applies to the P5 as well…by the time you add a nice pair of stands, the difference in price between the T20 and P5 closes to under $100. At that point, I think the T20 is the better value for people who have the space to set things up properly.
    When the T20s are set up well, an increased scale from the midrange over the P5 was the first thing that I noticed. Only certain genres and albums reveal the difference in bass extension and output, but it's nice to have when it's called for! Agreed that the P5 is more versatile and a little easier to dial-in.
    Both can be played at levels approaching 100 dB in my little 15.5 x 10.1 ft room without sounding strained. I like the fact that the T20s look like baby KEF 104/2s from back in the day. It would be fun to A/B them. I bet the little PSBs would give the elder KEFs a run for their money. :)

    Pretty hard to convince myself that metal tweeter can sound smooth. However, when you and Tharbamar both say that, I think it's real.

      My classic monitor audio gold gr20 reference loudspeakers are smooth, but these are excellent alround loudspeakers anyway. They are right down the middle in terms of their accuracy performance. Then it is up to the quality and resolution of the partnering electronics driving them, then you are at the mercy of the recorded audio content, from the source and material content. I like the resolution and detail with the musicality they give me on the right recordings.

    Thanks for another great video! Have you ever done a video explaining some of your audiophile jargon you use to articulate the sound of speakers and gear in general? I'm relatively new to all of this so I would definitely love to understand more, for example what you mean by warm side of neutral and so forth.

    Great informative video as usual man. Hats off to PSB for a speaker this nice, at this price point. I have been looking at these for my front mains for my movie system. I also use this system to listen to music sometimes, so I was looking for musical ability also. After watching your review I think that these will do double duty just fine. They have a great looking cabinet, and I love that they have dual binding posts.(Bi-amp for my music listening.) They are also the perfect size for my smaller room.

    I love these reviews. They give you basic idea how speakers sound. These probably aren't for to my taste. I want speakers what are lively sharp and dynamic. So laid back soft sounding speakers aren't for me. Just personal opinion. I once had PSB Alpha B1 speakers and they were nice budget speakers. Nice balanced sound what I can remember. Sounds like PSB has now softer sounding speakers. According to the reviews Klipsch is more to my taste. Of cource I need to do listening test to really hear what is for me. Now I have DIY speakers with Peerless 3.5" TG9FD10-04 fullrange drivers and DIY 8" vented sub. That's the sound what I like, but I always want to upgrade.

    PSB has always struck me as laid back, and maybe dark. This (like Vandersteen) sounds very "musical" but forgiving. Not the last word in detail or impact. Kind of like a soft-focus lens for music.

    I probably would prefer the model 5s. Can’t really recommend the Klipsch. To each their own. As far as that goes, I won’t be getting rid of my Proac EBTs any time soon! I have yet to hear anything I like as much, but the small Ariels definitely caught my ear. They were over $3.5k, but glorious in their tone all across the band. You can’t get that silk purse from a sow’s ear, but the small PSB monitors are not a bad recommendation. Great vid Sean!👍🏻

    QUESTION,🤔🤔🤔 I was on a sight that said to replace the cheap gold plated metal jumpers on the back of most biampable speakers with speaker cable and the sound will improve with most loudspeakers? Is there any merit to this as it does make a little sense? 🤔🤓🤯 The person seemed legit and it would cost almost nothing using 12 gauge wire!🤔🤓🙄 The Monitor Audio gold I had used thick gauge wire!

    • @ZeroFidelity
      @ZeroFidelity  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is one of those things that you just have to try for yourself. Most of the time, I'd say that there is either little to no audible difference between stock jumper plates and fancy jumper cables. Every once in a rare while however, I'll come across an affordable speaker that responds (positively) to the change.

      @@bigjay1970 I'd have to disagree with Sean here. The difference can be night and day. Listen I had $25,000 B&W Matrix 800s back in '91. The jumpers were absolutely horrid sounding. They were quad wireable but I just biwired and jumped the other two binding posts.
      I visited the #1 B&W dealer in Toronto and suggested to them that they replace the jumpers on their 800s with a piece of wire right off one of their spools and once again the improvement was not subtle. The first rule of audiophile is and always has been to throw away the jumpers. I have 3 Ziploc bags full of them. An added benefit is that you can tune the sound of the speakers with different wire jumpers.

    • @SpikeoutBattleStreet
      @SpikeoutBattleStreet 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tried that on my Wharfedale Diamond 220. The result is positive. However, the best result is obtained through bi wiring. Many audiophile speaker cables (e.g. Audioquest Rocket series, Mogami 3104) internally support bi wiring. No need to spent extra money for an extra pair of cables.
